We built an alternative to AWS, apparently it's 96% cheaper

I finally did the math on our Storage VPS product and apparently it's 96% less expensive than AWS.

We sell a 2 vCPU, 2GB RAM, 2 TB Disk virtual private server with 6TB of monthly transfer for $20/month.

I fired up the AWS Pricing Calculator and this is what I came up with:

2 vCPU Instance (t4g.small) - $12.26/month
2 TB Storage - $92.16/month
6 TB Transfer - $552.96/month

AWS Total: $657.38/month
ADTAQ Total: $20/month

Maybe we're on to something here!

What’s the storage performance? I would assume these are spinning disks and not NVMe SSDs?

I am looking for an affordable 4TB NVMe SSD VPS for a database server, but haven‘t found one yet.

They are spinning disk, but we've added a bit of secret sauce. Here's a benchmark from an instance on a hypervisor with actual user load:

Let me know if you have further questions!

That's pretty impressive, I have to say! This beats my current (non-stripped) NVMe SSD setup noticeably. Great job!

I hope I find some time this or next week to have a closer look!

        Thanks for the link.

This is actually RAID6, too, so you'll have redundancy.

Let me know if you'd like to trial an instance for a few days and I can set it up 👍

          1. 1

I really appreciate it and wouldn't mind. However, it might take a few days before I can actually have a look at it. I could send you a message when I'm ready?
