We built Dealsspy.in to fight fake e-commerce discounts. Read our story and roast our UI!

in 2024, I was hunting for a new pair of noise-canceling headphones. I landed on one of India’s biggest "deals and coupons" forums. The top-voted post in screaming all-caps read: "LOOT DEAL! 60% OFF!" I rushed to buy it, feeling like a savvy shopper.

A few days later, out of pure curiosity, I ran that product through a backend price scraper I had built. My heart sank. That "loot" price was actually ₹500 more than the average selling price from two months prior. The e-commerce site had quietly inflated the MRP, and the deal aggregator didn't care to verify it—they just wanted the affiliate click.

I realized the entire deal-hunting ecosystem was broken. Other websites weren't curating bargains; they were just laundering fake e-commerce discounts.

That betrayal was the exact moment Dealsspy.in was born.

We decided to build a platform where data, not hype, dictates what a "deal" is. We engineered Dealsspy around one core philosophy: Price history is the only source of truth.

Here is how we do things differently:

  • Historical Verification: We don't care what the "current discount" says. If the price hasn't actually dropped below its 90-day historical average, we don't list it as a deal. Period.

  • Anti-Loot Spam: We eliminated the FOMO-driven "Loot" alerts that trick users into buying inflated junk.

  • Signal Over Noise: A clean, data-first UI that shows you exactly how good a deal really is compared to its past pricing.

We are trying to bring transparency back to Indian e-commerce, but building a robust price-tracking engine is tough.

We’d love for the India Hacker community to poke holes in our product.

  1. The Data: Do the historical price trends feel accurate for the products you regularly track?

  2. The UX: Does the interface make it easy to quickly verify if a deal is genuine?

Check it out, test your favorite products, and let us know your honest thoughts.
