We improved 3 indie hackers landing pages, LIVE...

We had a Product design live-stream for indiehackers, Tuesday the 12th and we're grateful for the 15 people who joined us through it.

πŸ‘ Thanks it was our first time live-streaming
βœ… The recording is available here with the timestamp.

We looked at 4 pages from our IH community and improved 3:

** How we prepared for the live-stream? **

  • We created the twitch channel scenes in OBS/StreamLabs so we could easily switch between the "stream is beginning" and "stream ended" video.

  • We used the chat to engage with viewers

  • We had a spreadsheet filled with products that I scraped from indiehackers.com community board

  • We had an agenda written down with approximate time-boxed approach, so we knew we should only spend 20-30 min in every page.

** What can we do better next time? **

  • Further customize our Twitch channel so there's a list of resources quickly available for viewers

  • Promote the live-stream more and more

  • Engage more with the chat at the start of the session

** What can YOU learn from this live-stream? **

  • Use whitespace to your advantage
  • Stick to your colorscheme
  • Less is more, reading in a Z pattern is what you're aiming for (for western landing pages)
  • Don't be afraid to wireframe on paper
  • Hire a designer if you can't do it yourself, it's worth every penny!

Until next time, we will post more info on the board within the next couple of days (or follow us on twitter haha) !

Bye from @nxAlessandro and myself πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹

If you keep an eye on the sidebar with "events/meetups" here on Indiehackers' homepage you should see it announced soon, otherwise follow me or alessandro on twitter - we will defo be tweeting it

    2. 1

We will announce it on Indiehackers! Still deciding on doing another one next week or the week after.

If there are any topics you'd like us to cover feel free to ask for it here, you can also DM @orliesaurus or myself ;)

Thank you for mentioning me @orliesaurus, @NxAlessandro.
The stream was almost 3 hours long, and I don't even know how it went. The guys were great. When analyzing my landing page, they commented exactly on the problems I was solving during the development, and I was not satisfied with their solution. I recommend watching another online broadcast. This content is precious to anyone who wants to improve in product design. I can't wait for the next one.

I mean it as I was not satisfied with my own work :D ... sorry for my bad English writing.

Thanks hope you enjoy it, let us know what you think, it's pretty long but there's good advice!

Thanks for the feedback! You really tore into our stock illustrations. I thought all those illustrations looked cool, me with my developer-non-designer-non-marketing eye πŸ˜‚.

Thanks again, we will iterate on this.

No hard feelings πŸ˜‰TBH even basics illustration made by a freelance designer can boost anyone's brand!

I glanced over the video, looks very interesting. I will have a look a bit later.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to give detailed feedback.

I was looking at those landing pages before:

    https://www.zerofasting.com/
    https://www.headspace.com/

Right now I focus a bit more on the product again, but my landing page issues backlog is getting big quick.

What font did you use for your alternative solution @orliesaurus ? It looks nice and I'm not happy with my current one (Archivo).

This sounds like a great idea @orliesaurus. Great work. !!

Special thanks to @manyTomas such a great down to earth guy working on a cool project.
