We just launched! Looking for your feedback on our audiobook App

We, at Deepmoth, are offering an audiobook platform for free to everyone keeping rich user experience in mind to enhance their level of comfort while using the app to play audiobooks.
We realized that current audiobook platforms available in the market do not bring a super-rich user experience and the users feel lost while they try to discover the books either by the genre, by the authors or by the trend. Also, the existing platforms do not provide a pleasant piece of description about the book and its author. We also failed to find a very interactive & eyes pleasing platform for playing the audiobooks.
We have launched our app ‘Papervoice’ on Google Playstore and on Apple Store which has 50+ audiobooks already onboarded. To ensure a high quality user experience that we are currently providing in our app and to enhance it even further, we would love to hear your feedbacks and opinions. You can find our app here:

Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.papervoice
Apple Store: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/papervoice/id1518475351

What does "rich user experience" mean? I've personally never said to myself: "I need a more rich user experience". Do lots of users tell you that they face this problem?

"Presenting the right set of information at the right place, bringing the right set of user actions and placing those at the right portion of the display, showing what a user wants to see, Impressing the user with freshness in color encoding used", We see these as part of rich user experience. The rich user experience is definitely not the main KPI here for our app. Our app is providing free access to all the books in public domain. Audible uses studio setup for audio-book generation and hence brings a costly subscription for the users. We, on the other hand, do AI and hence are guaranteeing a way cheaper subscription plans for the user in future to access the books in non-public domain. Having said all this, as the first step, we we want to focus first on the user experience and offer them a cool interface to play their likes. Requesting you to kindly let us know what you feel about our app :)

Just took a look around your app. I like the UX and aesthetic. You face an uphill battle competing against Audible and Overdrive. They either have the best selection available or all the free books from your local library.

That said, if you can work on developing your unique angle, you might be able to carve out a spot here.

I noticed your books are most free ones in the public domain of I'm not mistaken. There's a bunch of websites out there that provide ebooks for these. But I don't think there's a go-to audiobook app yet for that space. Or I haven't seen it anyway.

You could lean into that angle of "listen to call the classics you told your friends you read".

Something like that. Either way, don't try to beat the heavyweights at their own game. Keep brainstorming your angle and hit that hard.

    Good luck!

Oh also, there's a typo on the 3rd slide of your welcome messages.

      Thanks for your feedback !

yes, we definitely are not competing with platforms like Audible. Audible brings the best voice quality for their users given the fact that they leverage recording studio to generate audio-book versions . However we do AI and we know we may only match their voice quality that too post a lot of feedback and improvements over next 1 or 2 years. We recognize it very well.

Our main KPI on the other hand is providing the users a platform which has way cheaper subscription plans for the books in non-public domain. And at the same time providing them the free access to books in public domain. We are also very focused on providing rich user experience which we felt is missing in such platforms.

We always had the question for everyone. This one .... "Why audio-books are not as famous as the Hard-copies ? Why most of the books don't have their own audio-book version ?"

Given an extremely slow growth in audio-book segment, it stands nowhere compare to the market of Hard-copies & Kindle. We realized that the costing is the major problem. We realized that small scale publishers simply can not afford it. So let's try this one, let them give a platform where there is an opportunity for small scale publishers to get an exposure to the world of audio-books. Let us give it a try :)
