We Launched MicroConf Masterminds

Along with the team at MicroConf, we've launched a mastermind matching service for non-venture track hackers and founders. Applications are open for two weeks.

Our goal is to be the easiest way for people to get connected on a recurring, focused basis with like-minded founders for accountability, sanity checks, and support as you launch and grow your products.

We’ve built a proprietary matching system based on criteria like headcount, stage of business, annual revenue, location, and a handful of others. The strength and quality of the MicroConf community lends itself to connecting motivated founders with one another.

If you’ve been considering joining a mastermind (or want to learn more about about reasons to be part of one), check it out at https://microconf.com/masterminds.

I also did a 30-minute livestream yesterday talking about why you might want to be part of a mastermind, at https://microconf.com/microconf-on-air.

I'm just one data point, but here's what I would have loved to see instead:

    • A slack group for entirety of the mastermind groups
    • Slack channels per mastermind group
    • Personalized events, such as Q&A with founders you've had on the show or with yourself
    • Random pop-ins from yourself or other well-known names in the mastermind sessions

Basically, mastermind groups all organized and directed with MicroConf at the core. I could see myself shelling out up to $19/mo for a mastermind of that quality (that's at 0-10k ARR). At $10/mo it would have been a no-brainer

But a basic, self-directed matching service doesn't help me nearly as much as the above.

Just some food for thought, big fan of the show and such so hopefully this doesn't come across as too negative!

Thanks for the input! We have effectively built what you are suggesting, but aren’t charging for the non-mastermind pieces.

For Slack, we have more than 1,000 founders in MicroConfConnect.com and it’s an active, well-moderated Slack community.

For the live Q&As we are doing a weekly stream at microconfair.com.

For three person masterminds it wouldn’t be super practical to have well-known folks pop in, that’s an in-depth level that you’ll only find in expensive mastermind programs from internet marketers that run $1k per month and up, or in an accelerator program. So...while an awesome idea, $19/mo just isn’t practical.

But the good news is we’re already providing the other items you’ve mentioned for free 😉

Fair enough on the price point, just wanted to offer my perspective. Hope this all works well!
