Today we launched Viyo.io on Product Hunt and we haven't seen any traffic from it. For people who have successfully done launches from PH, what sort of things did you do to promote your product? Was it a combination of launching on PH and posting on other platforms? Is there anything we can do to boost visibility/engagement on PH? Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated!

In addition to what @JamieGilman said, I looked at your PH listing and honestly... I don't even know what your product does... I clicked the thumbnails and they don't show me anything...
"Use any device as a pet camera" ... ok what does that even mean? next image
Screenshot of the login page... ok why is this here? next image
"What would you like to do?" ok, cool screenshot of inside the app.. gives a couple options, setup camera or view cameras... next image
Ok, an onboarding screen that shows the same page as the last... useless next image
The logo... well that was anti-climatic...
Lets read the description... Ok I can use any device with a browser and a camera to monitor my pets... How does this work? What exactly do I do?
Lets read the top comment from the maker...
Oh... ok you had a problem, you solved it.. What was the problem exactly and how did you solve it... You're expecting me to just know what this is and why I would want it...
I only went this far down to give feedback, the original time I opened the post I got side tracked and when I came back I looked through the screenshots and then immediately thought to myself "Why do I have this PH post open?" then I closed it. Then I saw this thread and immediate remembered why.
Try using this next time. https://previewhunt.com/
Looks like a really useful tool, thanks for sharing!
We had our product featured on Product Hunt and it ended number 5 for the day - https://www.producthunt.com/posts/archetype-2
Ultimately, you need a good product, which sounds obvious! But Archetype was featured I assume because the PH guys thought it was a worthwhile product - we tried to solve a problem that we were having with typography design for ourselves as we couldn't find something online that did it for us - so we must have resonated with users that also were looking for that solution.
To stand out a little we animated our icon and provided a video and made sure our screenshot designs and product introduction were of good quality - although I'm not sure how much this would have affected being featured.
We also posted to lots of web design sites and newsletters that tweeted or shared it for free, and we also got a lot of traffic from writing a blog article on typography design that showed why Archetype was relevant, so some content marketing could help.
Awesome app (gave you guys an upvote :)) and thank you for the feedback!
I like the idea of creating a video. I think that's something we'll have to work on. Also, I love small design details like the animation in your icon! It really shows the extra care and effort that you put into making your product exceptional.
As harsh as it sounds, @joshmanders comment was also my impression as well unfortunately. Screenshots don't really explain what your product/service is or does.
"Use any device with a browser and camera as a security camera", so... its software that runs in the browser with 0 install, making your camera remotely accessible? Did I get that right? If so, it took me a bit of mental gymnastics to discern that - it needs to be much clearer. It actually sounds like a cool and useful product though, so I wouldn't give up hope yet!
If my interpretation is wrong then... well you see the problem! Either way, you need to re-work your marketing.
