We launched Smores - an AI Music Discovery App | Part 5 - Metrics 📈

Chapter 5: Where we are now:

Usage Stats over the last 90 days:
(Images from Amplitude are in this Medium article: https://medium.com/@alexruber/smores-music-discovery-side-project-9fd9ef2de1b4)

  1. Average of ~80-100 unique sessions per day (without marketing) where a session is defined as “playing at least two tracks” for one session. The random spikes you see are from Reddit posts that took off and the Techcrunch article that was published. You can read the Techcrunch article here: https://techcrunch.com/2023/01/19/smores-is-a-music-discovery-app-with-a-tiktok-like-feed/

  2. The most important metric and the one we are continuing to improve is Weekly Retention. As of writing this post, Week 9 retention is 4.39% ( a bit higher than the Industry standard of 3.5% on day 30) from the cohort that started 12 weeks ago.

  3. People have liked and/or added over 20k new songs!

  4. This is one of my favorites and validates our original assumption: Most people like a new song within 5 seconds of hearing the ‘right’ snippet for the first time, insane!

App Stats:
5.6K Downloads
Conversion is roughly 36.9% from App Store Impression Event → Install
Thank you for making it this far. If you have any feedback, suggestions or comments about the project, we’d love to hear it below! If you need any help or suggestions on your side-project journey, feel free to reach out :)

Andrei and I are really excited about continuing Smores as we progress into the new year. We have a ton of great initiatives in the product pipeline that we can’t wait to show you. I’ll post a Part 2 of this series later on, so stay tuned!

Thank you guys and as always happy listening!
