We made $750K with an open-source project, AMA
The open-source project is NativeBase. With authors and creators from the community, we made a sale of $750k in a span of 3 years.
We built premium starter kits on top of React Native with NativeBase that helped people save the bootstrapping time, priced starting from $100.
We then built multiple app UIs from location-sharing to e-commerce app screens that helped startups accelerate their development.
There is more. We are ready for the next major release of NativeBase, the v3.

What skills should react native developers will need to maintain your library up-to-date in the next year?
I think it's basic React Native with TypeScript. The codebase is pretty self-explanatory.
These are the few things that I can think of from the top of my head –
• ThemeProvider (uses Context)
• Design tokens (that is replaced with actual values)
• Compound component pattern
• React Native Web (as NativeBase supports web now)
