We’re ditching Facebook Ads and sponsoring indie creators instead. Can we sponsor you?

Hey all!

I run marketing at Biteable and I’m so tired of just shoveling ad spend into Facebook Ads.

2020 has been crazy and the last thing I want to do at this point is give Facebook any more money.

We want to support independent creators, makers, builders, youtubers and streamers.

We have a couple hundred thousand dollars we’ll be spending over next few months with you all instead of with Facebook. Help me make the best of it.

Can you recommend someone or nominate yourself as someone we should sponsor?

More info here on the rationale:

And our tweet announcing here:

So, who’s in?

I don't have enough traffic on most of my web apps for this, but you have my respect for the initiative and I hope it will bring you better results then FB ads so you keep using it.

    1. 1

Hey Mike, thanks for that! If you come up with an initiative, let me know!

  2. 2

Love this. I think it’s so important for brands/marketers to make their own choices about where their advertising dollars go (instead of relying on fraud-prone ad tech!).

  3. 2

    You love to see this!

  4. 1

I honestly don’t have enough traffic yet for my newsletter (Podmmunity) for indie podcast creators but slowly building up my network and got a consistent plan in place. Would love the sponsorship opportunity :)

Hey Chris, Just following up. We'd be interested to know if you offered sponsorship to any of the applicants? We sent you an email on the 27th Oct. It would be good for the thread to hear your feedback and if you sponsored anyone:)

    This is great, @ChrisFrantz!

I've just checked Biteable and I think it makes a great fit with the audience of my project, Failory. We're a content site for (tech) startup founders.

+70,000 users check our website every month (80% come from Google) and we have a newsletter with +7,5000 email subscribers (30% open rates and 4-7% click rates). We share more information about our sponsorships here. I think the Everything Package makes sense in your case. I'd be super happy to talk further about it.

My email is [email protected]; let me know if you prefer me to contact you instead.

Hey Nico, would love to learn more. Hit me up over email! [email protected]

Hey Chris, interesting idea. We have a newsletter that goes out each week to 10,000 people interested in travel. If you think we can offer something, feel free to get in touch :)

    I made this https://navnav.co/
    Currently I have 6 -7k ad views per month that yield $7 - 8/month.
Happy to replace the ads with a long term sponsor banner.
    Thanks

We're just starting out with our YouTube Channel with I think 24 subscribers 😂@ChrisFrantz. What kind of boxes do you want to have ticked for sponsoring? I have some video's in the backlog I'd like to upload...

    1. 1

Hah, let's figure it out. [email protected] and let's chat

  10. 1

    Yo Chris!

I have a newsletter thats definitely right up your alley. I’ve been offering sponsorships and classifieds spots for quite some time now that might be of interest to you.

Here is a link to my advertising page with more details if you’re interested.

This is awesome. I'm building Remote Leaf and looking for sponsors. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi,

I built https://mkws.sh/ as a solution to JavaScript static site generators bloat and also as a solution to the modern web development tech stack. I'm exploring using UNIX tools to develop modern websites.

  13. 1

    Hi Chris!

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I built a tool that makes it easier to find influencers/creators on Instagram/TikTok/Pinterest: https:mynexus.me

Well done! Really heartening to see direct-to-maker efforts like this.

What type of audience are you after, and what's are the minimum numbers/metrics required?

No min, small businesses and startups. What's on your mind?

      1. 1

Well I have a product, early stage: markfolder.com. Not a lot of traffic but just a handful of active users.

It's a tool for bookmarking tweets and organising them. At the moment the bookmarks are private, but I'll be launching public/sharable folders so users can share them.

So I was wondering if this is too early for you as you'd want to see traffic.

    Love the thinking Chris.

My newsletter is called Alternative Assets. It's about alternatives to traditional investments, with a focus on digital assets.

Would love to have you as a sponsor. Here's the media kit (err, Google Doc): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yaxGNoMq4sHuS26lMJHPqT1j1tWduVjmpa-pL3Ezp54/edit?usp=sharing

Really cool idea! I was gonna mention myself (https://studiocinematic.com), but I guess you would probably consider me competition :D

  19. 1

Well, I'm not sure what is your selection criteria and what's it all about but I think why not to drop a comment here mentioning myself.

Here is what I'm working on, at the phase of investigation if people need this or not and what can be done further. This might be a new stuff for my existing product, which is https://pingr.io

    Completely independent, build everything alone

Sponsorship is always interesting. What would sponsees have to do for biteable in return?

    1. 1

Cartwheels. But only if you're a professional.
