We’re powering Imejis-io with BuildBase

We’ve been building BuildBase as the infrastructure layer for SaaS products, and one of the products using it is Imejis.io.

Imejis is a developer-focused image generation API and design platform. You can create template-based images programmatically, and AI agents can also create, edit, preview, and render designs through MCP.

The interesting part for us is what the Imejis team does not have to build from scratch.

BuildBase handles the SaaS infrastructure around the product:

  • 🔐 Authentication
  • 🔑 API token management
  • 🛡️ Authorization and permissions
  • 👥 Teams and workspaces
  • 💳 Billing and subscriptions
  • 📊 Usage and credits infrastructure
  • 🤖 MCP and AI agent readiness

This means the Imejis team can spend more engineering time on the actual product: rendering, templates, components, APIs, and making image generation accessible to AI agents.

The MCP part is especially interesting.

Imejis can be used through MCP clients such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor. An AI agent can discover available components, create a design, modify it, preview it, and render the final asset.

The architecture looks roughly like this:

Developer → Imejis API → BuildBase infrastructure

AI Agent → MCP → Imejis → BuildBase

This is the direction we are building BuildBase toward:

Build your product. Don’t spend months rebuilding authentication, billing, permissions, teams, and AI agent infrastructure.

We are still early, so I’d love to hear from other Indie Hackers:

How much of your engineering time goes into SaaS infrastructure that isn’t actually your core product?
