We reached our first 30 users with an AI grading assistant for instructors

We just passed 31 users for GradeProAI, a browser-based AI assistant that helps instructors speed up grading inside Canvas & Brightspace.
It’s early, but I wanted to share a few things we’ve learned so far.

Why we built it:
Online courses create a huge amount of repetitive feedback work. Instructors often type the same comments dozens of times each week — across assignments, discussions, and rubrics.

Early lessons from our first 30 users:

  • Instructors value control — they want AI to assist, not automate

  • Tone presets (formal, friendly, encouraging) are surprisingly important

  • Speed matters more than anything else

  • LMS workflows (especially discussion grading) are far more painful than expected

  • Most instructors are not anti-AI; they just want tools that save time without taking over

What’s next:
We’re preparing broader LMS support and deeper workflow automations, while keeping the instructor fully in control.

If anyone here is working in EdTech, AI workflows, or browser extensions, I’d love to hear your insights as well.

Happy to answer questions!
