We recently helped businesses migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify—here are the biggest challenges we kept seeing

Over the last few months, I've been researching and working on WooCommerce → Shopify migrations, and I noticed the same issues come up repeatedly.

The migration itself isn't usually the hardest part.

The real challenges are:

✅ Preserving SEO rankings after launch
✅ Migrating products, customers, and order history correctly
✅ Preventing broken URLs with proper 301 redirects
✅ Rebuilding custom WooCommerce functionality in Shopify
✅ Minimizing downtime during the switch

One thing that surprised me is how many store owners focus only on moving products but forget about SEO and redirects—which can cost months of organic traffic after launch. Proper URL mapping and testing are recurring recommendations across migration discussions.

For anyone considering the move, I'd recommend creating a migration checklist before touching your live store.

My checklist includes:

Data backup
Product & customer migration
URL redirect mapping
Theme customization
Payment & shipping setup
SEO validation
Post-launch testing

I wrote a complete step-by-step guide covering the entire process here:
