We replaced stock images with our own and built a landing page people love

I love the fact that high quality stock images are so easily available now and lots of them are free to use. It has made the lives of indie makers like us easy.

But lately I've been feeling a stock image fatigue.

For a previous project last year I had used some fine images from a free stock image site. I was happy with the result but pretty soon I kept seeing the images of the same people everywhere! The same guy was recommending a car hire service in one place and was the on a finance report somewhere else.

So when started designing the landing page for our new product, we set out to avoid the stock image fatigue.

Here's what we did

We took rounded up the team and shot our photos in-front of coloured backdrops with a phone camera. Some basic editing later they were good to go on our new landing page!

We even screen recorded ourselves using our laptop cams to use in marketing videos.

It was definitely more effort but the page looked quite refreshing and authentic and we got great feedback. Check it our here - thursday.social Would love to hear your feedback!

The product we have built is a fun playful solution so it was definitely easier to create the look with bold colours and copy. I'd be happy to ideate visuals for your landing pages with you, drop in your links!
