We showed an identity-based system to early testers.
Here’s what surprised me:

  1. People don’t question identity systems — until something breaks.
When it does, their tolerance for friction changes instantly.

  2. Small moments of confusion kill trust faster than they kill conversion.
Especially right after verification or before high-risk actions.

  3. Users don’t just evaluate features — they evaluate risk in real time.
If they’re not sure what happens after they click, they hesitate.

It made me rethink early-stage growth less as “getting users”
and more as “reducing uncertainty at key moments.”

Curious if others have seen similar patterns while testing early products.
