Web scrapping freelancer - have you done it?

Hello,
I've been doing open source contributions to a local civic community. Most recently, I did some web scrapping for them. I've been wanting to start freelancing, since I enjoy web scrapping I figured I could use that as my starting point.
I noticed on Fiverr and Upwork that there is a good amount of jobs for web scrapping. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with doing web scrapping as a freelancer? I can see some issues going into it, such as web scrapping being a somewhat competitive market. Also, writing and selling scripts doesn't seem too profitable - $25 for a script means you have to have a lot sales/ work fast.
I'm thinking of creating packages, like including data cleaning and analytics.
If anyone has to time to discuss their experience or two cents, I would love to hear it. Thanks!

I know a guy who's working full time on Upwork (python scraping). Def in demand. Well, what worked most was offering actual services and billing per-hour for him. He hasn't tried offer productized services though.

Thanks zerotousers. I think I'm going to try Upwork for a bit. I do see that Upwork is done by the hour. You helped me feel better with trying this route for a bit.
