Webflow stack or bubble, for a marketplace (redbubble clone)?

Hi,

I would like to build something like redbubble.com, where an artist can place a specific design on a product and start selling it. I hesitate between a webflow stack or bubble.

Personally I find Bubble powerful and limitless but not so friendly for front end customization. I love webflow (I think it will overtake Bubble in the near future) but for building a marketplace it takes a lot more integrations with third party services .

What do you think ?

Thank you in advance

    What @tbotnar said.
I think for marketplaces Bubble is the way to go.
Don't see why you think Webflow will take over Bubble, it's not their goal at all.
Webflow is a tool for designers to build beautiful websites, Bubble is more about advanced functionalities and workflows.
Build your landing page with Webflow and you're good to go.
You can get a template for your marketplace on zeroqode.

Thanks a lot @nanatoni. I think that because webflow's pedagogy follows rules of classical code. They can have the same logic to create a more powerful tool (also designer oriented) for more complex web applications. And since they have raised 170 M$ ... :)

But it's not there yet. I agree.

I'd recommend bubble for any marketplace, because you want customization and flexibility. In terms of front end, bubble allows you to basically do anything, it's just not as user-friendly for developers as Webflow. You can always build your landing page with Webflow and then have the internal app portion hosted in Bubble..

Thank you @tbotnar. Ok i'll play with bubble's front end tools :)

    Webflow thoughts:

Webflow can do this with add-ons, but the advantage of using Webflow with those 3rd party services is usually when you already have a Webflow site versus starting from scratch. You don't have to start over on a new platform (and spend the time to learn it as well).

That said, another BIG advantage of using Webflow with 3rd parties is the ability to export your site, host it yourself, continue using those 3rd party services, and hire a programmer to replace the minimal functionality that Webflow specifically gave you.

The get's you out of "vendor lock-in" which can be very important.

    Bubble thoughts:

You'll be able to do more, and do it more easily than with Webflow. But... you are 100% locked into their platform. They decide they don't want you on it, you have to start over. They decide to raise prices, too bad. Their platform isn't performing well for you, you're outta luck.

But with Bubble you'll have the ability to add more advanced features, more quickly.

Thanks @Coffee. It's never a good choice to depend on only one supplier.

Why not using something like bigcommerce or shopify? Are there any specific features that will make or break your idea when using one of those?

No it's just that i like webflow's UX and logic

yeah, i think webflow/bubble combo works based on what others are doing - anything with complex workflow will probably need bubble
