Website analytics with uptime monitoring

Hi Indiehackers,

I believe there should be simple analytics just like https://plausible.io/ with more features like uptime monitoring...

You can check the health of your website with visitor analytics in the same dashboard.

What do you think about this?

This is definitely a separate problem from your typical analytics offering.

Cloudflare has standalone health checking and alerting with their paid plans. We've used the Pingdom service for this particular feature at the last couple tech companies I've been at (not free, but I think their price is reasonable).

Depending on the infrastructure you're running on there may be other free or lower cost options too. For example AWS allows for monitors and alerts on various metrics.

As trivial as health check monitoring sounds, one can't dismiss the high availability requirements, and necessity for numerous POPs to account for potential network failures isolated to a particular region, ISP, etc which would otherwise produce false positives.

While health check monitoring may seem trivial, it is crucial to ensure high availability. Moreover, it is essential to have multiple points of presence (POPs) to account for potential network failures that may be confined to a specific region or ISP. These failures may produce false positives if not considered.

Guess it makes sense to combine those together, but it's pretty low effort to include basic forms of uptime monitoring for your site. It's hard to compete against the convenience/price (free) of existing solutions.

Thats a good idea. Visitor information and when visitors not able visit are related to each other. Those services should be clubbed together.

Combining them might appeal to some people, but it's probably hard to compete with uptimerobot.com on being free and easy to use. You can sign up in a few minutes when you launch your site and then forget about it.

I believe fathom analytics does this

More features means more data and more script size. Then the product will loose the basic idea on which it was built at first hand.

That is privacy focused and lightweight analytics.

Anyway, I will implement and test how it works on AppMetrix.

This would require that actually someone is visiting your site. It should work for most, but low-traffic sites would still require a job that regularly checks that the site is still up.
