Website Policies

Happy Tuesday IH!

After some further work to getting my product live - I'm excited to say I'm very nearly there. Still balancing main hustle vs this but made some great progress in the last 2 weeks.

Going forward, I need some website terms/privacy policy etc drafted up. This is for a job board so we will be handling candidate data etc. Where is the best place to get this sort of stuff drafted? I've looked online but don't really know whether they are good to cover all bases?

Or am I overthinking things? I seem to get bogged down by small details so trying to break that habit.

Thanks
Josh

I'm actually setting up a super-niche job board too and just went through this.

    I took basically four approaches:

    1. Use online terms and conditions generators. There are a bunch, some are free and some charge. I used the free ones to get the main foundations in place and to get a sense of how it should sound (e.g., authoritative, legal, comprehensive, etc.)
    2. Looked at other job boards and SaaS sites which that deal with similar topics or situations. For example, since I'm hosting content from a 3rd party, I need a disclaimer that I am not responsible for any negative events that may come from the use of that content. I found some terms that were similar and adapted them to my needs.
    3. What are the rules relating to what I am selling. For example, I don't guarantee that anyone will apply for a job listed. I also state the requirements relating to refunds or what they will get when they purchase a listing (e.g., how long will it be online, placement of featured listings, etc.)
    4. Think about negative things people could do with the site, the content, or anything relating to the effort and add a line about that. For example, what happens if someone applies for a role listed on the site and has a terrible experience? What if the company is actually super offensive or doing illegal things? Etc. So I put lines in the terms stating that I am not responsible for what happens in the job application/interview process.

Now, with all of that said, I am not a lawyer and have never done this before. So, while my terms are probably better than nothing, I certainly hope that I don't have to rely on them all that much. If this becomes anything (which I doubt, mostly just trying to launch something), then I'll get the terms done properly.
