Website re-design to (hopefully) gain the trust of my visitors. Feedback request!

Hey Everyone,

I posted here late last week asking for feedback on how to prove to my customers that we're safe to use. I had a ton of amazing feedback and have put it into my new design of https://sharemyinsights.com

I've re-designed the site - with more of an emphasis on privacy and safety. I've added a "our values" page as well as adding a "Community" page to help with social proof.

I'd really love some feedback, so I know I'm on track to gaining my customers trust.

Cheers!!

I feel like you may need to talk to your current customers, find out why they used your service, and craft the copy around that

Ur right to focus on trust - if I'm letting some Facebook account access my insta account, I need to trust it.

Great, thanks for the feedback :)

    Social proof creates trust

    1. Lead with user testimonials (this should come right after your hero text). I.e. where you currently have small user avatars -- this isn't really doing much for me.

    Change this to user testimonials.

    1. Show the number of users in the community. i.e. "join 2,310 influencers"

    2. Simple interactions like buttons that change on hover/press can also add implicit trust

I haven't watched this yet, but this talk from Joe Gebbia of AirBnB sounds like it's right up your alley:

Additionally, trust only becomes an issue when you don't offer enough value. if someone feels like they are getting enough value out of something, they stop focusing on trust. It's a table stake, not something that will sell your service.

Sell your service by focusing on the benefits, and have the sense of trust built through those testimonials that focus on the value the service provides.

Great advice, thanks for taking the time. Going to use this going forward!

Hi Tim, thanks for sharing. I am an NYC based graphic designer and brand strategist. On the design side: Upon looking at the page, I don't get a sense of trust from the design elements you've chosen they are 1. too casual and 2. lack an edge or sophistication one might want to see for a company focused on working with Instagram influencers. The title header font must be changed. In terms of copy: I don't get a strong understanding of what your value prop is, really ever on the home page. Who is this for? How do they use it? And what is the use case? are all questions that come up for me. Happy to chat more — email is in my profile!

      Hey @tenlie,

      Thanks for your detailed response!!

Alrighty, I'll look for a new font to replace the main one, I know it's quite bold.

As for the value prop, yeah I think you're right - reading over everything it doesn't seem to explain to well EXACTLY what it does, nor who is it for.

Going to work on fixing this today, thanks again for your response - really appreciated :)

I don't think that a "value" page and a "community" page is that defines if a site is safe to use. What I think your doing is pulling the API from Instagram only if influencers come and create an account with you and give you permission to post them on your site, and they have the option to delete themselves from your site? If so this sounds perfectly reasonable, especially if you allow them to have "private" pages to share just with their potential customers instead of made public.

I have no idea why you feel that you have mistrust with your customers, I assume something happened, but regardless you can just go ahead and assume you've lost their trust for good, and your focus should be on bringing in new customers.

That being said, I think you have a good idea, but a bad UI. Horrible color choice.

      Hey @combition,

      Thanks for the feedback!

Yes, exactly that's what I'm doing - my website previously didn't explain that...at all really, so I guess it works - in that sense.

I don't have mistrust with any customers, just a few influencers (and users here) I've reached out to expressed a lack of detail which led them to not have enough trust to use the service - which I fully understood and is why I changed it :)

Haha okay, will have a think about the color choice! (may be pushing it) but do you have any suggestions of colors that would work well in your opinion?

Either way, thanks a ton for your feedback! Working on improving it today!

      Cheers

I'm not sure, deciding on what you like is harder than knowing what you don't, that the hard part for you to figure out haha.

In general I follow a principled approach. Elegance in simplicity. proper proportions. symmetry. The ability to tell a large story in a simple and refined way. Functional and ability to get your point across and engage the users, get them to sign up should be a priority. Japanese art I found helpful to study.

I run an expirement to myself when designing and think:
If I were to come to this site, what would it have to look like to engage me and for me to go "Wow, awesome idea, lets sign up, how can I use this". What attributes would that site have?
        Generally you'd want to see:

        1. something different and captivating
        2. exactly what the site does, explained as simply and as fast as possible.
        3. something to play with to get the idea across to understand.
        4. extremely simple and streamline process to get signed up
        5. intuitive UI, if you have to explain how to use something - its probably wrong.
        6. no bullshit, not even a hit of inauthenticity

          Hey @combition,

          Yeah exactly!

I like your approach and I'll be using it going forward. I have added a few use cases near the top of my page, so hopefully that helps with explaining what/who the service is for.

I'm also changing around the wording to try and get to the point of what we do, as fast as possible.

Thanks for all the help, it's appreciated!
