I am so proud of you and I have never even met you :) Also uncovering those secrets! In your next project I’m going to read that you were a helicopter pilot for Brazilian Special Forces or something

      1. 5

She was, but if she confirmed it directly anyone with knowledge would have to "disappear".

        1. 2

(Laughing!) Or at least make those who uncovered her secrets 'disappear'.

    2. 2

      Awesome awesome awesome!

Love the idea of hair mogul!

Also, I love the illustrations. Mind sharing the source/illustrator? :)

Not at all... kinkei! But caveat, I commissioned this piece from her years ago and she doesn't seem terribly active today. But yeah. Love this chick's pinup work!

I have been following! Looks like a fab offering!

Is the customer survey specific to restaurants, stores, etc? Or the folks walking into them?

      1. 1

It's JUST for the businesses, a brick-and-mortar store owner/manager. They're the ones who would be paying, so their input is most important to me. I've already got a small amount of feedback from consumers.

I've been thinking I want to treat my epics more like OKRs so I'm now officially aimed at 3 (ish) targets for each period, one of which is required to be a stretch.

    2019 EPIC
5 paying customers for Automated API
(new addition) grow Threadbase.io by 25 paying users
250 users for yet-to-be-launched "kind of nothing" project

    MAY EPIC
Get content trickling for Threadbase.io :

    • 4 published Evergeen Pieces (0/4)
    • 4 Additions to the onboarding email campaign (0/4)

    Launch DotNetNitro (info tomorrow)

Get AutomatedAPI.com working with 10 Alpha users (0/10)

    YESTERDAY:

    • Fixed an SSL issue in prep for DotNetNitro
    • Collected some template resources for client/DNN projects
    • finished last difficult lab for graduate coursework (this was a major blocker I'm glad to have gone)
    • prep for the trip

    TODAY:

    • Nail down final few niggling pieces before DNN announcement/launch(ish)
    • get on the road (TX, I'm coming home)
    • bit of client work from the road
    • some light content generation...because that's easy enough to do sans mobile internet access.

    KUDOS:
@Harlem killer secret project you just put out there. Been considering a course at some point in the future myself. Excited to see where that goes...and potentially get the word out locally here in Central IL. Also @sunshowerlisa, just got an email from you yesterday, so you're clearly working the list from you site. Good on ya, I'll be sure to get on a response soon.

    Thoughtful Finance:

    End Of May
Finish beta testing and publish in the [Apple] app store.

    Yesterday
Got the app formatted correctly on all iPhone and iPad screen sizes and started looking into promotion strategies.

    Today
Enabling users to re-authenticate their bank accounts.

    Kudos
@Davey for having so much on his plate. Looks like I have plenty to learn from him.

Thoughtful Finance is the first app for tracking your personal finances with end-to-end encryption. It has a simplistic design, vivid visualizations, and no advertisements or spam about credit cards.

App Store prep is a lot! Make sure you get those different screenshot versions in using the Simulator preferably, they caught me up on that a few times.. some reviewing engineer noticed the screeny was not showing the right top menu bar for the device LOL.

I do have a lot on my plate but am organizing quite well using Clubhouse. Planning at night or in the morning, and a few tasks per project every day!

      1. 1

Yeah, I never expected app store prep to be this intense, and Apple's subscription test infrastructure is totally buggy and awful. I'm fairly sure that I will end up fixing stuff after my app is in production since the test system is so different from the production one.

Do you mind elaborating on the menu bar screenshot thing? I hadn't heard about screenshots being a big issue, I should make sure I get that right!

        1. 1

I had taken screenshots inside Unity in the correct resolution for the required devices in the submission process, but they didn't include the menu bar for the specific devices. I grabbed some live screenies from my device and used for iPhone, then scaled them a little and tried to use them for a different iPhone version. They called me out on it, saying the top menu bar (time/network) wasn't correct for the device type I had them in. So I had to go through the process of running my app in the xcode simulator for each device type and taking screenies there. I should have done that in the first place, it just runs sooo slow for me and didn't show some of the GFX I had.

They also caught me out on subscription language several times. I include a monthly sub in my IAP choices but they had a crapton of language they wanted me to surface in the UI. A link to terms and conditions IN THE APP, full description of the subscription period, how it works, how the customer can cancel, etc. Which destroyed my UI and I had to make a separate screen for the subscription item just to fit all the junk they made me put in.

          1. 1

This is super helpful. Thank you. Can't wait to see what they find for me to change in my app :)
