Hey indiehackers,
From now onwards, every week, I’m planning to share about our journey of building and launching List My Saas
I will write about the things that worked for us, mistakes we made, and the lessons we learnt.
Let’s kick off
TL;DR - This week’s highlights
→ We built and launched list my saas on Twitter and on our newsletter
→ Launch tweet went viral and it brought 500+ visitors to the site
→ Made $500 from our products and services in less than 2 days from the launch
List My SaaS is a list of 115 directories and launch platforms for makers and indiehackers to launch their saas and get their first 1000 users.
→ We completed compiling the list and designed the website
→ We started launching on Twitter and on our newsletter
My launch tweet got 11k+ impressions and 500+ link clicks.
How?
→ I’ve did build in public for listmysaas right from day 1 of building it.
→ Every day I shared updates about the list, site design, and how I’m building. This is how I created buzz about list my saas
→ On the launch day, I posted a tweet in the morning that we are launching today. This boosted engagement on my account and also made people recall about the launch
→ And then I posted the launch tweet.
→ Many makers from the community retweeted the launch tweet and it started getting link clicks.
Our list of is completely free. So we had to find a way to monetize it before we launched.
Generally directory websites make money through featured spots and sponsorships. But that takes times as they need to get a good amount of traffic. And it can be very inconsistent.
So instead we decided to up sell our own paid products and services.
We had 2 products to up sell:
Reddit launch kit ($19)- A collection of reddit post ideas that founders can use to launch their SaaS on reddit.
Done for you launch service ($149): since many founders don't have time, we also offered a service where we launch their saas on multiple Platforms.
Deciding to up sell our paid products really paid off for us
Launch done for you service: $447 (3 sales)
Reddit launch kit: $133 (7 sales)
Unique Visitors: 850+
Sessions: 1,000+
Revenue: $500+
If you’re building a directory, don’t just wait for traffic and then monetize it with sponsorships. Try to sell a digital product or offer a service.
It's always good to have multiple monetization models. You can minimize the risk.
We got a couple of feedbacks on our list from the visitors.
So, this week we are planning to add
→ Filters, categories, search bar to make the list more accessible and
→ Add more details about the directories like backlink type, pricing, and how to list.
And once these are done, we are planning to launch on other platforms.
That’s it from my side for this week. I hope this post helps you to learn something new.
Also, if you are a saas founder who want to get the first 1000 users, do checkout List My Saas
👏 Impressive launch, Karthik!
I am interested in your service, but I would like a little more fine-grained control over where you are planning to post. For example, I am building up to a PH launch and want to manage that myself. Is this possible?
And secondly, given that many of the services do require logins (and allow tracking and engagement) do you provide those login details as part of the service?
Hey John, totally. We will launch your SaaS on 45 launch Platforms. Product Hunt is not included in our service. So you don't have to worry about it.
Regarding the login details, Once you complete the purchase you will get a tally form to share your email address. We will use this email address for all our submissions. Once we finish submitting, we will share a Google sheet with you of all the places we submitted with proof of submission. You can track their status in your inbox.
@Just_Karthik This is amazing! Following your journey on X. Always feel great! Happy to support in any way I can :)
Thanks a lot Neel for supporting us 🤗
But some of the directories require you to log in before posting right? how do you manage that? do you ask for an email id and password from the client?
Yeah Iqbal
Once the purchase is done, our clients will get a tally form where they need to share their email address. And, we will use that for our submissions.
Nice Job Congratulations
question : what's the best to start social media marketing for my services in saas or seo
Didn't get you Elias?
Do you want to know how to promote your saas on social media or anything else?
Amazing to see such success in just two days of launch 🥳
I've just launched my SaaS and I need your guide.
Cool man!
Let me know if you need any help 🤗
Great job! Very useful for link building (SEO).
Thanks Sheridan 🤗
Amazing achievements. Congratulations 🥳
Thanks Sergiu 🤗
Hey, huge props on the launch! 🚀 Smashing through 500+ visitors and bagging $500 in just two days? That's solid. Love how you're sharing the journey and learning as you go. Upselling your own products is smart – clearly paying off. Excited to see those new features in action. Keep up the great work and keep us posted!
Thanks a lot Scott 🤗
Impressive launch, Karthik!
Great
Congratulations on the successful launch! Is it part of Launchpedia or a separate project?
Thanks Diego 🤗
It is a part of LaunchPedia only.
We used a seperate domain, so that people can remember the site easily.
