Week 1 update — SSL monitoring shipped, two features live

Quick update on the first week of building Observare.

Since the last post, SSL certificate expiry monitoring is now live alongside uptime monitoring. That's two of the core features shipped.

Here's what's working:

Uptime monitoring — HTTP/HTTPS checks on 5, 10, or 15 minute intervals. If a check fails, it waits 30 seconds and rechecks before alerting — no more false alarms from a transient blip. It also detects flapping if a monitor goes down twice in 30 minutes, it suppresses the noise and sends one alert instead of hammering your inbox.

SSL certificate monitoring — daily TLS scans that alert you at thresholds you choose (30, 14, 7, and 1 days before expiry). Each threshold fires once so you're not spammed, and they reset automatically when a cert is renewed. It also validates the full certificate chain.

Alert channels — email alerts for everything: down, recovery, flapping, SSL expiry warnings. Set up your channels and attach them to any monitor.

Dashboard — monitor lists, detail pages with 30-day uptime charts, incident history, paginated check logs with an all/failed filter, and a sub-sidebar for switching between monitor types.

What's next:

Port monitoring — external checks from our servers to probe public IPs and hostnames on specific ports. Then cron heartbeat monitoring.

I have decided to not open up for registration yet until more of the features are live and I can then open invites for beta testers, still building. Two of eleven planned features live.
