Week 3 update — Traffic down, but Google growing. Got a surprise subscriber.

Monday check-in 👋

Mixed week for OpenQR. Here's the honest breakdown.

The numbers:

  • MRR: €67 (+€5)

  • Active users: 485 (↓4%)

  • Sessions: 533 (↓7.3%)

Overall traffic dropped. But here's what's interesting:

Google traffic is actually up.

While social and other channels dipped, organic search keeps climbing. The blog posts are working — slow, but compounding.

Surprise win:

Got a new paid subscriber this week. Plot twist: user registered over a month ago.

Didn't convert immediately. Came back later and upgraded.

Lesson: not everyone converts on day one. Some people need time. Your free tier is a long-term funnel, not a failed conversion.

Focus this week:

  • Keep writing problem-focused blog content (that's what's driving Google traffic)

  • Improve onboarding emails — maybe I can nudge those "registered but inactive" users

Question:

How long is your typical free-to-paid conversion time? Curious if 30+ days is normal or if I should be worried about my activation flow.

Thanks for sharing this breakdown — the organic growth despite dips elsewhere is a solid signal.

30+ days for conversion isn’t necessarily worrying. Some users just need time to build trust with the product. You might experiment with:

    • Highlighting the top feature in onboarding emails

    • Small milestone nudges to keep them active

Have you tried tracking which activation steps correlate best with eventual upgrades? That can help optimize the flow without rushing conversions.

Good point. I appreciate your feedback.
My traffic is still pretty small, so I haven’t gone deep on activation-step tracking yet. Probably something I should prioritize right?

Onboarding emails feel like the lowest-hanging fruit right now. At the moment it’s just a generic welcome email, so highlighting a single “aha” feature and adding light nudges makes a lot of sense. Thanks for suggestion.
