Weekly todo app?

I just started reading The Mom Test (http://momtestbook.com) and getting into the questions you should not ask when interviewing users.

To answer your question, I have too many todo apps on my phone, which all allow me to drive them for free, up to a certain extent, to spend money on another one.

I'd say you're not only competing with the likes of Things or Todoist or Anydo, but you're also competing with Apple Reminders and Apple Notes, Notion and any other tool that understands how to insert checkboxes in place .

Don't want to discourage you, but I made a similar mistake with a remote hiring (jobs) platform. Spent two years working on it and the best thing I got from it was the experience. That's it!

My two cents — read the book at the beginning of my comment.

Do it and launch it!! you can then pivot or build something similar with your current baseline and experience, you will get feedback or ideas on the way

I want a to-do app that can sync and pull from my Google calendar, reminders, notes, Apple calendar, reminders, notes... all into one spot. and be able to be accessible through multi-platform (ios, mac, windows, android, etc). The closest thing right now is https://www.twentyfour.me/ that uses a "algorithm" to find open areas in your schedule, and it syncs everything. But it's super buggy, and I've been looking for a better offering. Not sure if this helps, but the idea of a "personal assistant" that can notify me when I have openings in my schedule, to get those menial tasks done... would be a game-changer.

It's a todo list + calendar app where you list out your tasks then put them on the calendar.

I use GTD principles to organize my todos and projects. In GTD there is an idea that creating daily/weekly/monthly plans is not a good idea. Calendar is only for todos that are scheduled on a specific date/time. So I'm not interested in creating weekly plans, but I might be interested in app to track scheduled todos.
But since this marked is overcrowded, I would pay for such app only if it has something I need, which other apps don't have. It can be even something small or not vital, like design I really like. In productivity world small things can be very important.

You could easily configure Notion (or similar) tool to do this (many time management templates). I would be highly dubious of getting any significant market traction at least in US market

I am using Trello to do almost the same thing with a method that is still probably used by @levelsio. I read about it in one of his articles.

I have a particular workflow with Trello. I think I saw somebody else on Hacker News do this and that’s where I copied it from. I have a list for this year, this month, this week, today, and now. When I go do something I drag it into the ‘now’ list. That gives me an immediate sense of action and knowing what to focus on. When I finish the task, I drag it to the list on the left. This list holds all completed tasks for this week. At the end of the week, I move this entire list out of the ‘to-do’ board to the ‘finished’ board.

Coming to your question, I guess people are interested in productivity apps and would pay as well only if you are providing something better than the free alternatives. 😅

So for kicks I've been reviewing an obsurd quantity of to-do apps on TaskFiler.com, and apps that present tasks in day-of-week view I'm quite fond of. Not sure if that's exactly what you're aiming for, but do look at TeuxDeux.com, supreme.li, and HTTPS://weektodo.netlify.app.

One thing I've learned is that there's a niche for hundreds of to-do apps. Have fun and keep us posted on your project!

What does "weekly" mean? Something that shows you the tasks for the week?

I use the google sheets todo template myself now. What would set your app apart from the others out there?
