[weekly update] My landing page is scaring people away…

https://dnca.ca/gwc-signup/

Since the Grow with Confidence Challenge launched last week, I’ve had 2 people sign up. Not doing so well right out the gate.

Perhaps I haven’t been promoting it as aggressively as I could be on Instagram & Twitter. I’ve been relying on facebook ads to bring people in but in retrospect that was probably a mistake 😅

I ran 2 ads this week, one totally flopped but the second one is actually doing pretty well. It’s directing a good amount of traffic (past 7 days: 10,292 people reached, 195 post engagement, 131 link clicks…but only 35 landing page views). Something about my landing page is not converting (https://dnca.ca/gwc-signup/).

I suspect it’s the facebook chat box that’s scaring people off (it’s site wide & covers the form on mobile & is slowing the page down quite a bit. I’m working w/ developer to get it taken off that page today).

New on the blog:

Nothing, I almost finished a post but did not publish. I will not give up on my goal of one per week, though!

What I’m doing to support my growth:

I’ve been working on keyword research & creating artwork for pinterest marketing. The idea is to have at least 5 pins for every blog post or piece of content. This is something I should have started months ago so it’s taking a bit of time to catch up…but once I do it’ll be another way to bring in some steady traffic.

I signed up for some free Facebook ads and list growth “challenges” but haven’t finished them yet. Hopefully they have some goodies I can use to grow my audience.

Still connecting thru Messenger with people who’ve commented on my posts in facebook groups. So far this has been the most effective way to invite people to my group (and therefor my mailing list).

Along with getting some new challenge signups, my goal is to create a presentation based on the challenge that I can use for a live webinar. I’ve never done a webinar before, so it’ll be really interesting to see what resonates with my audience and what doesn’t.

The Stats

  • Email subscribers: 33 (+3) / Unsubscribes: 0 (+0)
  • Instagram followers: 443 (+4)
  • Twitter followers: 97 (+3)
  • Facebook likes: 19 (+4)
  • Group members: 9

Things aren’t happening as quickly as I’d like, but they’re still growing. So for that I’m thankful!

@danicanorton I think it's the design, specifically the newsletter signup forms. At the bottom, it doesn't really stand out. The background color for the form is the same as background of the page so it just blends in. Here are few things you can do that might improve conversions.

Thanks for the feedback! I changed it since (before I saw this), so there is a background image behind the form and the headline has changed to "get out of your own way."

How does having the same image twice help? Right now it's in the middle-ish of the page to break up the content.

I'll try changing the button text -- good suggestion! :)

Some people may not scroll to the bottom. Adding it to the top may help incentivize it more.
