Weightless.so started as a simple email capture tool.
As I got a few users, and I started using it in my other projects, it became clear that for it to have a shot at becoming a business, it needed to send emails as well.
So now it is a full newsletter service, doing both.
Nice, sounds cool - so essentially you get your normal email experience but because you handle actual sending then it stops you getting flagged by google et al as spam for sending too many emails?
That's part of it. Most email clients, including Gmail, limit how many emails you can send per day.
And even if you send under the limit, it's not exactly easy to send the same email to multiple recipients.
Well, you can have multiple recipients in the TO field. But this is even more limited, and everyone will see each other's email addresses. Not good for most cases.
Or you can use BCC trick, but that's not what BCC is for, and it will likely hurt your deliverability in most cases. Even if you don't care about it, you are again facing the limits as soon as your subscriber numbers start to grow.
That's where Weightless comes in, keeping things easy for you, and keeping your emails readable for your audience.
And what email address do recipients see?
With the zero-setup approach, meaning you won't have to poke around in your domain registrar's ugly dashboard, it looks like this:

In words: I am relying on the "Reply-to" field. If the recipient clicks the "Reply" button, they will be replying to your email, but in the "From" field, they will still see the weightless.so subdomain.
I am happy to support custom emails in "From"address for paid users who commit to a yearly plan, but so far I have 0 of those 😬
Nice, this looks like a really awesome product idea, congrats 🙂
I wonder if you could be even more matter-of-fact with your H1 on your website? Like 'Run a newsletter from your email inbox'

A little bit on how it works:
I wanted to stay true to the spirit of the initial idea (being simple & fast), and the promise suggested by the name Weightless. So I added the big feature in a small way.
To send marketing [== mass] emails via Weightless, you won't leave your Gmail (or whichever email client you prefer). Instead you will send the message to a special address, and Weightless will re-send it to your subscribers.
So, in other words, my "innovation" is to let you email your audience the normal way, just like you email your friends or colleagues.
