Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Aug 23rd)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! ๐Ÿค—

    Hey, I am Travis.

I just launched Quest Theme (questtheme.com) and this is the start of my journey.

Thanks, nice to meet you too!

        What are you building?

  2. 4

Hi, Iโ€™m Austin! I spent a few years in Google Ads/ conversion rate optimization management, and Iโ€™m building a dead simple tool to allow dynamic keyword replacement for landing pages based on query parameters that works for every platform. Iโ€™m hoping to launch in two weeks!

    1. 2

Hi Austin! That sounds like a great idea, I hope you'll be able to share it here soon!

      1. 1

Thanks Arthur! Iโ€™m looking forward to the day!

Hey everyone, Raunak here. I'm a CTO of WhataStory where we make awesome explainer videos and SaaS products. My friend @idavinder introduced me to indiehackers and I can say I like the content here. During the pandemic I lost some big projects which were scheduled this year and contract were also accepted by the clients and cuz of that had some financial losses. But then I got 2 big SaaS projects, which helped me scale my company and within like 1-2 months I hired multiple talented people in our company :D

If you are starting a tech company, want to learn how to do better project management, learn Wordpress, have ques related to the UX or growing your SaaS business and more importantly be a people's person then shoot those Qs to me. I love talking in communities like this one, love to help people and make new friends along the way :)

    1. 1

Nice to meet you Raunak. Nice to know how you were able to get past the pandemic. Would help me as well. I'm a newbie here.

I'm building a community for Vipassana meditators around the world.

My name is Frederick and I'm a software developer, currently staying at the Dhamma Suttama meditation center in Montebello, Canada. I'm working there on the North American tech team.

This side project I'm starting is to connect Vipassana meditators together.

When they finish a course, people are very enthusiastic about keeping in touch with each other, but they connect through facebook or email. Platforms not designed with the meditator in mind.

On top of it, a course is usually 60-100 people at a time, so you don't meet the whole community, just a tiny subset of it.

That's what DhammaList aims to change. By being the central place where meditators find each other, I hope to empower them to create lasting connections that will truly lead to a global Vipassana community.

    1. 2

Hey Freddy! Love the sound of that. I am involved with an organization called Namchak which is a nonprofit that teaches Tibetan Budhhist practices. They do retreats (online and virtual) and I've attended their Vipassana trainings. One thing they're doing is learning circles - small groups who practice/study together.

You might want to also chat with Daragh Byrne who is working in a similar space.

Hi all! I'm Andres! I'm a product manager with technical background and a hunger to find a golden problem to solve.
Right now im working full time in a tech startup in the entertainment industry, but I'm actively looking and pursuing side projects that could build some passive income.
I'll be asking for feedback and advice on each project, looking forward to hear everyone's thoughts!!๐Ÿ‘Œ

    1. 1

Hey Andres, your reasons for joining are the exact same reasons I joined this community. If you have any ideas and are looking for people to join you on your journey feel free to reach out!

      1. 1

Hey robo!! That nice to hear! are you currently working on any project?

  6. 2

Hello am glad to be here. Am new to all this. I just landed a good domain name (laptopsguide.com) that i could not avoid taking. Well, it was affordable. But now, i have realized, getting a good domain name is just a 0.000000001 of the journey!!

Anyway, am here to get tips and if possible partner with someone who may be interested in the same. It is all about laptops, yes a VERY VERY VERY competitive niche. Almost impregnable! But i accept the challenge. Hope to get your input on this journey.

I have very limited knowledge of SEO, which i guess is my biggest problem at the moment. I have always wished to get into the Amazon affiliate business. Then this came!

  7. 2

Hi , I am siddhesh and I am 23 years old. I am pursuing my MBA and I am a social media creator. I love talking about things like business , marketing , fashion , art and entrepreneurship. I am currently working on a social media platform called Wylo and it helps like minded people communicate and share their knowledge with each other. We provide live news updates and help people stay connected with their interests and passion. I am here to make good connections and be part of an atmosphere where personal growth is considered as the priority.

  8. 2

Hi everyone, I'm Askar. I'm software engineer and I work on the Chrome extension that allows you to make a quick notes and manage them without leaving your browser. Project's main goal is simplicity and security. https://qnotes.me/

Going to launch it next week ๐Ÿคž

Hi all, I'm Andres, I've procrastinated joining IH for a while but I finally decided to join you.
I partnered up a few months ago with two guys and I think IH can help me to grab some tips, get feedback for our project and hopefully launch it by the end of this year!

    1. 1

Hi, I'm new as well. I hope you'll find the community helpful and get feedback from fellow Indie Hackers โ˜บ๏ธ

  10. 2

Hello everyone! I've sunk a few years into engineering at Google and was introduced to the site after reading this post: https://mtlynch.io/why-i-quit-google/. Now during the pandemic, I'm torn between staying at the big company for stability or getting to work on something I'm passionate about sooner rather than later. I wanted to join the community to learn what it takes and to be inspired!

    1. 1

Yeah I wouldn't call it sunk years. I worked as an engineer at Google for couple years and then left to travel the world. Thanks to Google, I had enough savings to not worry about work for a while. Also it's been pretty easy to find new work because of having worked there on resume. Leaving Google to travel was one of the best decision of my life.

Everyone's situation is different though and you have to figure out what works the best for you. Pandemic could give you lot of focus time to seriously work on something you are passionate about. Or you could carve out more time on the side to work on your passion while keeping your job. Best of luck!

    2. 1

I just finished a podcast about being torn between two worlds we resolved that one must follow one's instincts (heart?), else be full of regret later.

    3. 1

I wouldn't call working at Google "sinking a few years"! What about starting off by building something during your off-time after work?

      1. 1

Haha perhaps that's a poor choice of words -- I have really enjoyed it and learned a lot, but it's hit a plateau and it's time for a new challenge.

That's exactly what I should do. I don't need to start out full time. An hour or two per day is better than nothing!

  11. 1

    Hey! I'm Jo!

I've build a chatbot startup that almost got investment money but we pulled the plug right before.

Since then I've spent some time trying to create micro-startups but never had the motivation to finish! I'm here to find that motivation and try to share and get some good tips!

  12. 1

Hey, I'm Omar, I'm a mechanical engineer who currently works in consumer goods as a Design Engineer doing New Product Development. What I'd like to get out of indie hackers is to join a group of like minded individuals wanting to create a product or service that can have an awesome impact, and also generate income on the side.

  13. 1

Hi, I'm Mohammed. I graduated recently from university and am now working at a startup in a marketing and operations capacity. I'm very interested in no-code /low-code tools as well as tech which is solving high impact commerical and social challenges. Complete newbie to product creation and looking forward to learning with y'all :-D

  14. 1

Hello, I'm Tatiana, an Australian based in Dubai.
I'm looking forward to learning from you all guys and share my ideas and tips.
I plan to launch a newsletter and am currently working on narrowing down my niche.

  15. 1

Hello, My name is Jacob. I'm a full stack developer working at a large company for 14 years. I'm interested in venturing out with a side project.

I hope to launch my first project getcurbsidepickup (https://www.getcurbsidepickup.com) , which enable small grocery stores to have online stores for curbside pickup.

  16. 1

Hey all! I'm Mike- I was recently furloughed from my job, so in the past couple weeks I took the opportunity to start working on a project around simple/fun landing page creation that I've been kicking around - looking forward to being in this community and maybe finding some collaborators!

  17. 1

Hi guys, I am Rishi! I am on my way to launch my web design agency. I will post my journey and milestones, I hope I can contribute to the community and community will help me find the solution if I ever get stuck.

  18. 1

Hi Rosie, Thanks for having me...
I can say that I'm an entrepreneur, I love on like marketing, ecommerce and innovation.

  19. 1

    Hey, I'm Petter!
I've been reading indiehackers, and thought it was about time to join the community :)
I'm building a note taking tool geared towards generating ideas, kind of a cross between Evernote and Roam. It's half-way live at unstumped if you want to check it out :)
(half-way as in that landing page is terrible and unfinished at the moment)

  20. 1

Hi, I'm Bryan, very welcoming sign up process!

I came across indiehackers and started reading some posts, it was great information so signing up. I've been a developer for years creating API's and backends over and over and got inspired to make this easier. I created restpoint.io, where you configure the APIs you need, click a button and the backend api/db is generated and deployed, as a free service.

I recommend using this for API prototypes right now as I work through a few more features. It's been a lot of fun so far, not sure it was even possible when I started but it's coming together and still more to do. Look forward to reading about other peoples projects!

  21. 1

Hi just joined looking for some motivation and community. I work as head of data for a large mobile gaming company and on the side further developing my programming skills

Hi, I am John and I would love to see others ideas and also maybe to make my own soon. Glad to be here

  25. 1

Hi people! My name's Mos and i started off as a mechanical engineer but pivoted after 2 years, to working with all kinds of startups. Currently working on a Middle East based Insuretech. Hoping to learn from and contribute to the amazing set of folks out here!

  26. 1

    Hi, Rosie and Indies!!!

Firstly, I would like to congratulate Rosie and Indiehackers team for their incredible work. It's impressive, and I do really appreciate all your efforts to try to improve our lives. Your job is simply AWESOME. Period.

Secondly, I'd like to thank you all for taking part in this project, 100% full of great and nice people.

I'm Spanish, living in Madrid, and I'm 44 years old. I'm an engineer in computer science, even though I've been "out of the tech market" for almost 20 years. I'm an entrepreneur since 2002, and right now I have three different companies: a marketing agency, a spirits brand, and a private online B2B-B2C business.

Since long time ago (I'd say decades) I'm seriously considering to create a website about all the knowledge I know, because I love reading and writing about these topics:ย time management, motivation, communication skills, leadership, technology, optimizing processes, meditation, health, fitness, finances, self-improvement, personal development, performance, entrepreneurship, organization, and so forth...

It attracts me a lot the point of "going back" to technology (creating and promoting this website I'm talking about) because, even though I'm not professionally working on the tech field, I've always been connected to it (SaaS solutions, Apps, Apple... I'm kind of a tech-geek because I love all these topics...). I hope to launch this project in 2021.

I am looking forward to meeting great people here and, most of all, being able to share knowledge that can be useful to all of you. When one gets older, there's no such thing as sharing and helping people to achieve fulfillment.

I will just finish sharing two quotes that I love:

โ€ข "Be yourself, everyone else is already taken". Oscar Wilde.

โ€ข "I'm ignorant but not stupid, so that I can learn". Jeffrey Madoff.

Thanks for reading! It's a privilege to be inside this community!

  27. 1

Hello. I am efltaminor. I am just starting to get into all this startup stuff and I want to make something that is actually useful to people. I have had some experience with React and Node, and I just like to code in general.

  28. 1

Hey! I'm Johan a designer that started coding a few years ago and cant stop :) I love building website using 11ty.dev and more recently Craft CMS. Here to learn and get inapired to build something.

  29. 1

Hey everyone! I'm Jesse. I'm the mobile app product manager at Weave (www.getweave.com) and am also working on a side project called SquidFace Games which is a mobile gaming platform for party games (www.squidfacegames.com). I've worked for 4 venture backed startups and love helping early stage companies. I've read content on IH for a while but never signed up until now so I'm looking forward to being a more active member of the community!

  30. 1

Hi everyone, I'm Baptiste. Really love this community and happy to join today.
I launched an hardware company in audio wearables 10 years ago and had to shut it down last year. I am hoping to share and learn with everyone here to start a new venture eventually. Good luck and vibes to all ! :)

  31. 1

I co-founded a digital marketing agency in October 2019. I'm still learning a lot about running a business, something I had no experience doing before. I need help and support from people who have tread upon this path.

  32. 1

Hey everyone, I'm Mark, former startup accelerator founder & operator and enthusiast of the passion economy. I've recently publicly released a chrome extension for creators to annotate news/articles, build a following, and monetize subscribers. Like a substack for web annotations. Would love any tips, feedback, and most definitely users! Looking forward to participating in IH.

  33. 1

Hi I am Tara. And I just created a Handstand Essentials course to teach people to do handstands in their living rooms. It is just about ready to launch and I joined this community to explore ways of promoting and letting people know about it.

  34. 1

Hey all! I'm Jonas and I want to make staying in touch during times like these (pandemics) a whole lot easier. No more awkward calls, short twitter messages or rambling facebook posts. Just share & listen to audio messages from the people you care about.
    https://friendsandfamily-tune.kickoffpages.com/

I've worked in tech for 10 years+ somewhere between development and operations and have decided it's time to venture out on my own, albeit carefully.

  35. 1

I have been working in a med-tech startup for 2 years, but going indie now. I am interested in tools that visualize and provide tooling to time. Already built Napchart (napchart.com) - a visual 24h time planner. Looking forward to build on that, maybe monetize it, and see if there is something more I can explore in that space.

Looking forward to being a part of the community!

  36. 1

Hi, I'm Roger - I have experience in various areas, but I haven't focused my abilities on something profitable due to fear of failure. I'm hoping to put all my sweat into the next three months and build something that will allow me to spend more time with my children one of which is special needs. I want to be a good father and role model - so fear of failure isn't an option.

  37. 1

Hi! I'm Celyn, Co-Founder of SaveForward. The SaveForward app helps socially-conscious millennials to save money and put a portion of their savings toward a microfinance loan. These loans empower underbanked individuals to start a business, expand their farm, or go to school, and ultimately lift themselves out of poverty. SaveForward users get to see the direct difference they make in someoneโ€™s life, without going over budget.

We had a web platform for proof of concept. It went really well so we're moving toward launching a native app and are looking for a team member to help us get to market! Always looking to connect with other entrepreneurs and bounce ideas around.

  38. 1

Hello, I'm Jason. I've been listening to the Indie Hackers podcast for a couple of years, but haven't joined the community until now. I've been coding off and on for years, but am not formally trained. I'm currently working on filling in some of the gaps in my knowledge and skillset with the goal of bootstrapping my own side projects.

  39. 1

Hello there, I'm Aleksa working & living in Berlin.
My whole background is in business (mostly sales) in FinTech and recently I've started learning web development(just to understand it better). I'm starting my 2nd startup and currently looking for a cofounder.

The main reason why I'm here is to understand better tech talents and the right approach towards synergy between business & tech. I've worked closely with developers in the past but it's different kind of relationship.

I'm starting a B2B SaaS for the B2B sales teams with emphasis on psychological and relationship building components (working smarter instead of harder). It's a hybrid version between a CRM and a sales tool. On the market most of this tools are just input based products (dumb) where I am working more in giving constant pro-active feedback to the user for better way of doing business.

Happy to be here and looking forward to learning from each other.

  40. 1

Hi, I'm Darsh! I am from the DC area and have been a UX designer for almost 7 years now. Prior to UX, I was in finance and absolutely hated it. I made the transition to UX with no formal education and love it. I boil down the reason I love UX to the fact that I enjoy improving processes strategically. To me, UX is the improvement of a process; wireframes, visual design, etc. is just a product of that. Strategy comes in when you have to think about the future implications of what you do now.

My goal is to get motivated to pursue my own ideas and connect with people that can help me on the technical side of things.

Hi, my name is Sandip. I am a software engineer at a startup.

I have been jamming on a browser extension for Gmail that helps you take back control of your email. Specifically, it brings email screening, one click filters directly on Gmail. If you have heard of Hey, it's Hey for Gmail :)

I'm Ed, a fullstack dev and have been coding for over a decade. I have coding realted YouTube channel called What The Func? and have built quite a few things as part of agencies or small teams. My dream is to independently launch a SaaS of my own. I've been inspired by all the makers I've stumbled upon on Twitter and decided to join IH. Currently hiding out in Bali while the world is gone mad.

Hi guys, I'm Arnaud. My soul purpose is to learn and transcend myself to better help people. I'm lucky as I can do it in my professional life.

I used to be a specialist in Entrepreneurship and Counsulting (for social entrepreneurs, Accelerators and even the UN).
For the past 10 months I taught myself the Growth Hacking mindset and tactics because I found myself passionate about yet (I mean it). At the same time, I've upskilled myself on programming, UX, copywriting, automation, scraping and SEO.

Today, I want to discover your great community I've heard so much of! Learn a lot from you and investigate how best I can find user my new product an encrypted browser-based chat to keep communication with clients confidential.

If I can help you with anything, that would be a real pleasure!

    Hi, I'm Jonathan.

Earlier this year my startup Caravel pivoted while entering Techstars Seattle. We're building software that allows customer success and support teams to have deeper insights into what they're customers want across all of their feedback channels.

I'm also working on a smaller side project called Gifty which makes it easy to set up and manage a gift exchange. My extended family has been doing this for a few years and I'm hoping to have it done in time for this holiday season since we'll be almost entirely remote :-(

Happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know this community!

Hi everyone! I recently was conferred for my EdD in Instructional Technology and Distance Education. I have over 20 years ESL teaching experience and am currently transitioning to the work of UX/UI through Springboard. My experience in my doctorate equipped me with knowledge of Telehealth and academic research methodologies. Although I am interested in research and enjoy it, I am not limited my scope of interest to research. I am looking for opportunities that I can continue learning UX and UI through project collaboration. As I have experience as a researcher, I would love to help fill that role in projects that are in need of a good researcher.

Hi all! I'm MJ, a mechanical engineer currently working for Rivian Automotive, and a prior SpaceX engineer.

Outside of work though, I really enjoy trying to find ways to add value and ultimately develop a product or service that would bring in some side income and potentially result in running a business of my own someday. This could be anything from a physical product, to a consulting or educational service, to a web app or piece of software.

Lately most of my focus has been on trying to come up with an idea for a web app due to low barrier to entry and capital needed to get started. But the struggle is finding those areas where people need something that's in my wheelhouse of interests (finance, data analysis, engineering, poker), that also isn't super saturated yet. Or, some of my ideas I think have a solid need, but I wouldn't know how best to monetize or scale them in a way that they would bring in significant income or expand into something larger.

Hoping IH can help provide some inspiration and a place to receive some feedback on my ideas!

    Cheers,
    MJ

Hi. I am Salman from India. I don't have a job and host a video podcast about that called Salman Needs A Job (it's a podcast about jobs). And I write a twice a week newsletter about COVID-19 in India called http://lettersaboutcovid19.com/. I really struggle in growing both of them. My newsletter is basically at where it was months ago after I started. With my podcast and video content, it's been going fine but I somehow discontinued in between which sucks. I am back at it now and I wish to produce a lot more.

I am quite intrigued by what's happening in the world of nocode, and I hear the Indiehackers community talk about it a lot :) I am happy to finally join here after having lurked around for a bit.

Hello! I'm Paris, though I know nothing about coding, I'm a tech enthusiast and I understand how most things work.
Currently building a real estate and investment company in Africa, and other side projects includes a website where local SMEs can converge and share ideas and navigate the complex, non-linear tracks of building a business in Africa.
Oh, also a dropshipping business; both of them outsourced.
I hope to learm more on here.

    Hi there! ๐Ÿ‘‹

My name is Barbara. I am content creator, marketer, HR-tech startups co-founder, a bit of designer, mountains climber and runner.

During the quarantine, we started working on a completely new product for us, cause we felt the lack of connection between each other working remotely. It's called NextPage [http://nxt.page/]! NextPage is the social extension that recreates spontaneous meetings online. You just invite your friends and colleagues โ€” next time you are on the same webpage at the same time you can start a water cooler chat or wave to each other like in good old offline times.

I am new to the community, but already love it โœจ

Hi, I'm Emiliano! I'm a fullstack developer with over 15 years of experience. I've been working as an employee since I turned 18. Lately, I've been wanting to build my own micro-saas and so here I am. I don't have an idea yet and I also I didn't do a lot of side projects during my career (couldn't really find the time between work and personal life).
Hopefully I'll find some inspiration here and who knows?, maybe a partner too.

Anyone one with a good idea and design skills wanting to team up with a web/cloud developer... I'm all ears!

    Thank you!

Hi everyone, I'm Yi-Hui. Previously doing digital marketing, now in product management at a SaaS startup. I'd like to learn more about building from scratch to the end, and hearing about other people's experiences.

I have an idea in mind (something like etsy, but not quite), but I'm not entirely sure whether it's something I want to do in the long run or just a side project. One thing for sure is that I want to go through the entire process myself, and I'm okay failing at it! No solid plans yet - I might change my mind but I'm going with the flow for now because I need to prioritise some personal things first :)

Hey, I'm Mohit. I'm an independent iOS developer. I recently launched my new app which helps you track your subscriptions. https://subtrack.vercel.app/

Hi, I'm Damjan! I've been subscribed to the newsletter for years now, and what everyone is doing is really inspiring! I'm always trying to think what is a product I'd like to build, and I think I finally have an idea that excites me. My background is in software engineering, but being in the management track it's been a while since I properly built something from scratch, so I'll use this to brush up on my dev skills as well :)

If anyone is working on SEO related things I'd appreciate you emailing me (in my profile) to bounce some ideas, and happy to give my two cents with my head of technology experience.

Hi I'm Juan, I'm an experienced developer looking to learn more about your journeys, experiences and ideas. I would love to build something that I'm passionate about, I have a couple ideas already in my head, but I've 0 experience in the whole product or marketing area, which I've been doing research lately and I've found IndieHacker while doing this. I'm happy to be here and hopefully connect with people with similar interests or ideas, and maybe someday share my journey as well!

    Hi there. Rami here.

I heard about this community on Syntax FM podcast but ended up here while researching a dropshipping business idea I am currently working on.

Sup y'all. I'm Adam and I'm passionate about using behavioral psychology and gamification to help people achieve their goals, with a current focus on fitness.

Back in 2013 I built an app called RockMyRun and did the whole startup thing. While it was successful, growing to 20M+ users, I got burnt out and stepped aside.

Now I'm looking to start a more modest, lifestyle business in the same space. I look forward to learning from you all and sharing what I've learned!

P.S. For anyone interested in gamification, I can't recommend the book "Actionable Gamification" by Yu-Kai Chou, enough. It's a bible on how to use proven techniques to drive engagement

I worked in a tech startup in the events industry for five years and am now looking to build a new SaaS product. I hope that I'll find lots of tips on the business side and some motivation here ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
I'm currently working on an app to help photographers share galleries with their customers and I hope to release it in the upcoming weeks.

    Hi, Indie Hacker Community.

I don't know how I only now discovered this community. My whole career has been helping improving developers working lives. First company, focus adding various endpoint management interfaces a snap -- we delivered the first web-based management solution. Second company solved end-to-end encryption and identity for devices. The third and current company, (dellfer.com), focuses on weaving personalized cybersecurity during compilation/linking build process. I'd love to help everyone here to build secure services and devices. Our thesis, your customer will pay for ongoing, post-sales cybersecurity support.

Looking for partners for mutual growth and success.

Hi everyone! I'm a new YouTube content creator, indie hacker/maker, travel abroad enthusiast. Let's be friends.

For my YouTube channel, I'm in need of specific custom videos. I could use recommendations on websites where I can post small gigs (< $50 USD) that can be completed by one or many people. Which freelance / service site could accomplish this?

  121. 1

Hey everyone, I'm Shaun. Really enjoying learning more about everyones journeys here.

I'm here to (hopefully) find like-minded people with shared values and goals, and collaborate in some form: perhaps as a co-founder, sharing constructive feedback, or even helping test what I'm building.

My biggest goal for 2020 is to automate 100 hours of time. To help me get there, my current goal is to understand the market and how to reach my target audience.

  122. 1

Hi all, I'm Jeroen, a software developer who also loves to design and run an online product.

I've been working on iOS apps since 2010 and started a SaaS with a co-founder in 2017. At some point I realised you might call me an indie hacker / bootstrapped founder after I had done so for a few years. Living in the Netherlands with wife and kids. Since 2011 the apps pay most of the bills, with a few weeks of freelancing every year maybe, and at the moment the SaaS is slowly replacing the apps, which is a good thing!

The SaaS: https://inventoryalarm.com which I spend 75%+ of my time on.

Lately interested in privacy. Both as something to do the right way (GDPR, Schrems II) and to see it used as USP (love Fathom and simpleanalytics). Will share my learnings and react to posts where I can help, and ask for advice on stuff I encounter for the first time that others may have sorted long time ago.

Two days ago, a colleague of mine sent me an article/blog post, where one of the IH community members talks about online courses, and he is mentioning our company's name, solely because my colleague was active in this community talking about our expertise. That was a first time I've heard about IH, and now I've decided to join. It seems like an extremly smart community!

Hello friends, I'm August. After spending the last decade in golden handcuffs working a state job, I've walked away in hopes of finding my way back to being a modern developer. My main focus has been to become a react developer, and just hoping to learn more as I move along.

    Hi - I'm Bob!

I've built a 3D medical imaging service, but need some gigs/income before scaling it for release. It would also be helpful to find people familiar with the business side of the medical imaging industry, as well as access to CT/MRI scans to broaden my tests with.

My passion is 3D Imaging and Computer Vision - I love building Cloud/IoT/Mobile solutions that help people and systems better understand what they are seeing.

I have 14 computer vision patents, drove face recognition tech at Apple, built the systems at Adobe that made Creative Suite I, II, and their Video Suite possible.

If you want to take a peek at some of the tech things I do:

Hi everyone, I'm Akshay and a recent first time Founder of a fledgling startup at the intersection of Food and A.I. A fellow Founder highly recommended and was kind enough to suggest this platform as a way to explore and get plugged into the community.

We are creating a platform to eliminate the boredom that is associated with the question(s) - "Meal prep for ___" or "What to cook this week?"

I'm hoping to learn from others here and to use this as an opportunity to get our first 100 users and allow them to "Roast" our early product MVP, so we can work hard on ironing it to provide a better experience.

Would really love to connect with you all, especially if you believe the problem presented needs to be solved.

Hey everyone. I'm Trent and I'm working on Routegy. We make it easy to add touchless, interactive experiences to anything, anywhere, with no app or code required. Think things like orders and payments, ratings and surveys, help and requests, etc.

My co-founders and I have worked together for 15 years and previously founded AppThwack, which was acquired by AWS and became Amazon Device Farm.

Excited to join this community and give feedback, get feedback, and learn from others' experience.

    Hi all,
My name is Tom, I've been programming video games for a while. I've recently made my own programming language to make game development easier, and have started publishing games made with it.
Looking forward to interacting with all of you and explore your creations :)

    1. 1

Can you tell me the name of the language developed by you, would like to try it out.

      1. 1

        Hi, thanks for the interest!
The language is called avdl (Abstract Video-game Description Language) and it is open-sourced here: https://notabug.org/tomtsagk/avdl
Unfortunately It is missing documentation and examples, so it is not easy for someone new to make something with it yet. It is one of the biggest priorities I have for this year.

Hi partypeople! I am Ben. I am building an open collaboration plant database focused on permaculture aspects. You can use the database when you plan your next season to find all the info you need to grow plants successfully and with little work based on permaculture design principles. ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฅ’๐ŸŒถ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿฅ”

Heya, I'm Amrit! I'm building a productised service and would love to be part of a community to learn as much as I can so that I can get faster in doing stuff. I've been feeling rather grumpy at myself for not moving fast enough. So I look forward to being part of a community & may my competitive streak by inspired by your speed. :)

Hi Amrit, welcome to the club. I am myself in the "not fast enough" mood at the moment ;)

Hi everyone, I'm happy to join the community. What we are trying to do is to power feed to feed traffic trading by introducing own pre-scoring, post-scoring and server technology, which lead to in purchased traffic quality growth and 60% cut of the server costs.

Hey, I'm Sam. I'm a software dev who got annoyed at estate agents and how expensive they are. so i decided to make an app that lets people list their how for sale for free. my goals for the rest of 2020 are to get feedback from people about what I've build and, fingers crossed, get my first users. Also kinda looking for a community of people in the same boat so we can talk about what we're working on without worrying about those self-promo rules on reddit... ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am so happy to finally be here with you all.
My name is Martijn and after selling my Productized Service company I am now building Otira: the Online Team Interaction & Reporting Assistant.
Otira is an HR chatbot that lives in your Slack and automates your remote team culture and makes people feel seen.

I'm starting this as a solo project and am now developing it myself (after 10 years of not coding) so the learning curve is steep. But I am having so much fun!

Indiehackers is an amazing community in which I love to contribute my knowledge about business, teams and marketing and hope to learn and meet new friends.

    Talk to you soon!

Hello Indie Hackers community! I am super excited to jump in here. I had heard the name Indie Hackers for a while now, recently tuned into the podcast and binged a few episodes, and thought now was the right timing for me to start investing in this community for myself and hopefully to help others. My day job is being a full-time CPA (certified public accountant) at a top 20 firm here in the US. I travel quite a bit as my specialty is in casinos & gaming, mostly Tribal, and also in Tribal governments. My job is mostly CFO-level advisory and ERP implementation advisory.

I live in Billings, Montana [born & raised]. First entrepreneurial pursuit was a DJ business I started at 16. Really grew in my college years and but slowed down when I graduated. I still do about 8 weddings every year or so, just enough to keep the tunes collection fresh. That small side project has been going for about 12 years.

My business partner and I launched a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. This year was the 9th annual, which was held just a few weeks ago (yup, even among COVID!) That event is our largest, with over 100 teams participating this year. We have branched that off into a youth basketball league and a couple smaller tournaments. About 5 years ago we tried to open a basketball gym (basically a warehouse with hoops) and might as well give that cash a tombstone.

Always being tech-inspired, in the last 9 months or so I have been getting heavier into trying out tech businesses. Built a server in my living room on which I host a handful of Wordpress sites and email. Been in discussions on acquisitions via MicroAcquire & Flippa (haven't bought anything - yet). Launched a minority-owned business directory that I don't put enough time into (BuyMinorityOwned.com). Launched a meal planning service for families that my girlfriend helps put together each week (SavvyCarrot.com).

What my hopes are here of joining the community are 1) get inspired to keep pressing on in these endeavors, 2) learn from others who are having successes, 3) feel a little accountability towards attaining my goals, 4) meet some new people, and 5) share the wins!

If any of my story resonates with you please reach out!

    howdy!

i'm jonathan and i've been making web sites since the late 90s. i've worked in a lot of "engineering" roles and had my hands on all kinds of technology over the years, but i really love the simplicity of writing html and making things for the web.

in addition to the dev jobs that pay the bills, i spend a lot of my free time working on open source projects and slowly building sustainable businesses.

i want to emphasize the "slowly" part...i have a family, personal interests (rock climbing, making art, playing music) and other pursuits (real estate, construction, property management) outside the digital world that limit the amount of time i'm able to spend working on these projects. i also have ADHD, so doing a lot of things at once has always worked for me, haha.

i've occasionally read posts from people on this site over the past few years and yesterday i decided it was finally time to join. IH seems like a cool community and i'm looking forward to talking with you all about...whatever we end up talking about!

    ciao! ๐Ÿ˜˜

Hi everyone, I am Lorenzo from Italy. I am an iOS and web developer.

During the lockdown all my classes moved online and my learning process has changed a lot. Recorded lectures and content tailored to the online experience made me realize that most of the new information I was reading and listening to was being lost.

Then I have found a note-taking method called zettelkasten and I made a tool based on it to never miss any fact or idea and relate them to my previous thoughts immediately. It really improved my learning experience and made me more creative. Even if I forget something I can recall my previous thoughts and connections very quickly, saving a huge amount of time for my future self and gaining more and more insights each time I add new notes. I have just made it publicly available https://gemsnotes.app You can access it via your favorite browser, I recommend using desktop instead of mobile for a better experience.

I think there is more than one way to use the tool effectively and I would like to meet someone to exchange techniques to write and organize the notes and discuss about new features and improvements. Thank you and nice to meet you all! ๐Ÿ‘‹

    Hello Everyone!!
I am Abdinassir, a software developer. I work a 9-5 job as a software developer right now to support my family but I want to start my own business. I've been wanting to do that for a while now. I am teaching myself how to bring the ideas I have to fruition. I know that while Entrepreneurship may seem attractive on the outside, it really is not. I am willing to take on the challenges that it will bring my way and do whatever it takes to build something that will bring value to others.
