Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Dec 6th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! ๐Ÿค—

Hello, I'm Justin, I've been working as a software engineer for about 10 years now. Sometimes I get random ideas for applications and websites that I think are useful. I spend a few hours/days/weeks building out the idea, and then have no idea what to do next to get people to use it. I'm here to try to learn how to take my ideas to the next step by learning how others have found markets for their projects.

    Nice to meet you all!

    1. 3

Hi Justin, that's awesome I'm not the technical kind but I love finding ideas about the most random things and market audience that would suit them, I'd love to know what kind of projects you've worked on in the past, maybe I can help :D

      1. 3

My current project is in progress so I'm not quite ready to share it out yet. It is basically a collection of Q & As, very similar to the interviews section of Indie Hackers, except for a broader set of industries.

But to get an idea of what else I like to work on, check out https://moreencores.com/

You login with Spotify and select a city, and you are set up! It works kind of like the Discover Weekly playlist. It creates a playlist on your account that refreshes every morning. What makes it special is that all the artists on the playlist are visiting your city in the next 30 days. It's a great way to both discover new artists and to get reminders of concerts.

It also analyzes your listening habits and your favorite genres to automatically choose artists that fit you best. It works best when you select a major city. Unfortunately it is not well suited for a pandemic as most of the shows are canceled but I hope for it to be valuable again soon!

        1. 1

Love this idea. Is there any competition out there that you stand out from?

Bandsintown is a service I've used and there was another but I forgot the name.

        2. 1

That's really cool! I checked it out and yes I can definitely see how curators and event organisers could use it as well to promote their artists. That's the kind of direction I was going with my product but I ended up not following through with it.

For your Q&A project, it sounds interesting! I'd like to know more when you're ready to share :)

      2. 1

And wow I just viewed your project VybeMusic and it is verrrrry similar ๐Ÿ˜‚

    2. 1

I get the sense that people around here have found more success finding projects for their markets than the other way around ;)

  2. 5

Howdy, I'm Rickey! I've been working as a product manager for a startup called EyeLevel for the past 3 years. We're developing an app that helps managers and teams have better and happier conversations. I'm here to learn, grow, and connect with others who are working on projects of their own. If you're a manager--especially a new one--or an employee who wants to have better 1:1s or is interested in helping us test our app, please feel free to reach out! I would love to chat with you ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

    1. 2

      welcome dude!!

    2. 2

Hey Rickey, great problem to tackle. You may want to check out Soapbox to maybe learn about any problems they haven't been able to tackle for your target market.

      Good luck!

      1. 1

Hi there! We've scoped them out before and think they're a great tool. However, their product is more rigid and prescriptive--which can be helpful if that's what the team needs--than our philosophy on 1:1s. Our approach encourages more ad hoc conversations. Good tip though, thank you!

  3. 3

    Hi there,

my name's Frank, been working pretty successfully in the IT business for over 25+ years and recently traded bits and bytes for real products - I found my passion in being a leather worker, producing fancy and non-standard leather goods. Everything is handmade, no machines, just hand tools. Of course I am not perfect yet, but I strive getting better by the day and make the craziest and most useful stuff for people who don't wanna live by the mainstream.

Although this won't get me rich - it will get me rich in terms of passion and love for this profession. And maybe one or another buck to spend on it.

Yea, and - I'm from Germany actually.

So - nice to meet ya all - maybe we can get something done here.

    cheers!

  4. 3

Hi, I'm Felix! I'm a product manager at a German AI company and I started a small programming side project a few months ago. It ended up being featured in Producthunt just today. It's called: The Personality Reveal. It's a personality test that infers your personality from written text.

As I'm very new to IH, I'm excited to explore it further and exchange some great ideas and tips around product development, UX/UI design and digital marketing!

    1. 1

      Hey felix, Nice app.

      1. 1

Thank you Khizar! Did you take the test? Was it accurate for you?

        1. 1

Yes i have tried it. and i feel its good..... and your idea is also very great... specially for HR related people.
Btw whats your business model? where are you planning to pitch your app and market it?

  5. 3

Hi, I am a tech enthusiast who curses himself each day for not taking up computer science at university.

I discovered about indie hackers from YouTube, and I'm hooked to it.

It is an inspiration pill for me- I can see that!

    1. 1

haha don't curse yourself! :) There are so many great no-code tools coming up that you can use! Have you tried using any?

      I'm a fan of glideapps.com, webflow.com, pory.io, bravo.studio

    2. 1

On the same boat as you haha. Thankfully, I learned about a really near profession - Product Management.

No coding required, just really good listening and speaking skills (although it's not really as easy as it sounds, but you get the jist of it)

Good luck on your journey in Tech!

Hi, I'm Phil. I quit my job back in May and have been working on a development tooling startup since then. I'm looking forward to sharing my progress with others and getting tips on how to improve my product.

Hi all! I'm Dave. By day, I work as a software engineer for an established company. In my nights and weekends, I've been slowly pulling at the thread of "big data for small startups" i.e. leveling the playing field for independent/early stage/bootstrapped startups when it comes to data capabilities (without using words like Hive/Hadoop/Flink/etc).

Here's a blog post I wrote with more about that.

I've lurked on Indie Hackers for a long time and eager to start participating! I'm working on a simple product related to all this data stuff, and happy to chat more with anyone who's interested :)

  8. 2

Hi, I'm Sam, I've been working as a freelance software engineer for over 10 years and now I'm trying to set up as my own dev company. I'm also looking into running a series of programming tutorials and developing some web application ideas. I'm looking to connect with people who are working on similar projects or to form a 'mastermind' group. I'm interested in projects that tackle ethical issues in tech.

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm Achim, I'm a tech enthusiast, lifelong learner and curator of wisdom ๐ŸŒŸ I build trickle.app, a knowledge distribution platform for lifelong learning. Recently, I went down the rabbit hole of the indie creators and communities and came up with the term Knowledge Entrepreneur. It connected so many dots for me that I purred it into this article:

    https://achimrothe.medium.com/what-is-a-knowledge-entrepreneur-3a440633d3c0

Now I am launching a side-project to build up a knowledge entrepreneur newsletter. These are amazing times to create and earn an income from your knowledge โœจ We should talk more about it ๐Ÿ’ฌ So I am looking forward to connect with more creators here learn and riff on ideas ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi, I'm George. I've been working on iOS/macOS development for about 8 years. I am not a freelancer but I dream to become. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've been working on my personal project Graph Galaxy for about 2 years. And recently I've made some cool features such as the hand-drawn style, and some significant improvements such as rendering the graph with Core Animation. I hope it can help people visualize the data and idea. It is available with the following link: ๐Ÿ˜‹

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/graph-galaxy/id1473722262?mt=12

    1. 1

@rosiesherry Sorry to mention you here. I couldn't upload the icon for product https://www.indiehackers.com/product/graph-galaxy - after selecting the icon, I saw the loading state, but the icon won't update. There's no error message that available to figure out what happened.

      1. 1

Ah, I am seeing the product icon updated in notifications page, however, it's still empty in the product page. Please ignore if that's not an issue.

        1. 1

It is buggy atm, but I believe it should update itself in a bit of time.

  11. 2

Hey everyone, I'm Adam. I'm building Viaduct (a hosted mock API service). Often struggle with motivation - can be lonely building a product by yourself - so thought I'd join after I saw @mrsimonbennett was here and read his interview (I know Simon from the LaravelUK slack group).

I've been a developer for longer than I'd care to think about. Primarily work with Laravel and Vue now.

  12. 2

Hey all I'm Julian, I'm a colombian software developer but live in the Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ. I'm just the average developer with lots of ideas but that never executes (until now), I got inspired by @levelsio but couldn't find creators like him so I started to research and found indiehackers (just what I was looking for!).Over the past week I gathered 24 ideas, I now plan to pick one of them and just build something! My GF is also a developer so we'll work on this together. Nice to meet you all!

    1. 2

      Saludos desde Colombia amigo!

    Hello,
I'm Wenzel - I'm from Germany. I've created my first website around 2001 I think. I just checked Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20010522000506/http://www.foglab.com/
Flash was the HOT stuff back then ;) Not sure how I came up with that "cool" name. Hehe.
I've always been very curious about this kind of stuff (websites, servers, technology etc).

In 2004 I've got more serious and started to get familiar with affiliate marketing - that's what I do to this date.

With my early start I feel like I could have really achieved a lot, since I've been on most platforms very early (I even got an eMail from a YouTube employee asking for traffic from one of my sites back then). But my laziness and lack of employees (I've always been a one-man show) held me back a lot. One thing I've learned, is to accept the past and try not to dwell on it too much.

The whole no-code and SaaS industry is what got me here.

My first "project" is not even technical, which makes it a probably not the best place to find help for on IndieHackers, but I do plan to create a small eco-system around it, which will be powered by nocode and other relevant topics.

My "project" is a YouTube music channel: https://bit.ly/feelgoodmusic1 (every new subscriber gets a virtual flower ;)
As I really love the creative part of video editing (I want to do much more here) and the idea of a passive income, if I somehow get this thing to a decent size.

I've created a tiny website accompanying the channel, using carrd: www.feelgoodmusic.co - (that's the start of the eco-system).

But the "big" plan is to do an accompanying TikTok Channel, where I talk about my experience of starting this channel. As I'm sure a lot of you saw these TikToks where folks say: "How to make money while sleeping", just create a music channel on YT and profit. Of course in reality it's a boatload of work and that's the part I want to talk about.

On my (not yet online) website: wnzl.co - that is supposed to become the "center" of all future projects.

Haha, I bet nobody is going to read through all this. But I already see myself copying a big part of this text as my intro blog post.

I wish you all a wonderful day! Looking forward to interact with a lot of you guys!

Hello fellow Indie Hackers! My name is Cosmin and although my formal training is in medical field (I'm a M.D.), development has always been my passion so I'm working as a web developer for more than 7 years now. I've been involved in many projects so far and worked for a couple of companies, but my dream is to build a profitable Internet business myself. I've been following the community for some time and decided to join today.

    1. 1

Same here! Goal is to build a profitable internet biz :)

    Hey Everyone,

My name is Erik, I recently completed my undergrad in finance and have been working in banking for the last couple years. In my spare time I have been working on a couple FinTech ideas on information I see the industry lacking. Was really happy to find this community.

  17. 2

Hello everyone, I'm Sam. I'm a software engineer since the past 3.5 years.
I've always been interested in programming since middle school and am now learning about how products can be made more useful for users. Based on some day-to-day problems in my life, I have started building out an idea list on which I brainstorm. I would love to meet others who are interested in building useful products for users and brainstorm together.

  18. 2

Hi! I'm Nick. I've been doing VC research for ~5 years at CB Insights and in quarantine I launched an enterprise social network called AllHands that was well-received: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/allhands

AllHands is a bet on 2 simple ideas:

    1. internal comms is a massive moat for companies
    2. today's comms tools are terrible

In 2020, I'm looking for a technical cofounder to bring this MVP to the next level, and scale it into a full enterprise product.

  19. 2

Hi Guys. Payman, founder of Visme. Joining here to help fella indiehackers and also get some input and tips along the way.

I'm abdellaziz. Glad to have found a community like this.
I'm here to learn, to help, and to contribute. If you see this and just want someone to bouce ideas off, please reach out.

  21. 2

Hi, I'm Drew. Glad to have found a community like this. Professionally, I come from a digital marketing background. I've worked for various technology companies (SaaS, Hardware, Services etc), but never in a technical role. I'm currently working on two products.

I'm here to learn, to help, and to contribute. If you see this and just want someone to bouce ideas off, please reach out.

Hi, I'm Antonio, dev from Italy. I've been working in the last four years on a side project (saas for veterinarians) which is now mature enough to replace my (part time) day job (leaving in a few weeks). I've put lots of time on it, managing everything by myself but now I need to learn how to delegate some stuff (marketing, sales, content) which I think will be a huge step for me. I'm father of a 8y boy and 4y girl, which are often around me while I code and help introducing little bugs ;) my wife is very supportive, testing the app (she's a real user) and pushing me to go full time on it. I've read some posts here and I love how many users are in my exact situation. Hope to learn and share a lot here!

  23. 2

Hello, I'm Anindya. I run Washrunner, an on demand same day laundry pickup service in LA. I am here because I watched Courtland on TWIST and realized that what he was saying resonated with me. I also have gone through an accelerator (startengine) and noticed that there seemed to be something 'missing' in the tech industry... big gaps between 'lifestyle' businesses and the high flying tech co's (there was no in between)... I loved Courtland's explanation of what an indiehacker is, and it made me think that I could be an indie hacker... (rather than an aspiring technologist seeking VC). I have this idea... the way to scale a local service using technology is to connect the 'physical world to the digital world'... I.e. connected devices and non digital marketing. Hacking together a funnel using traditional ways of marketing, and combining them with digital efficiencies is what I am trying to do. I am hoping to meet others who are interested in building local services, and want to explore the idea of using "physical marketing to promote app based local services" with me.

  24. 2

    Hi Everyone!

    My name is Chris.

I'm currently an Athletic Director and PE Teacher for a private urban school. Prior to my adventure in education (which I've loved) I started a full-time basketball training business and before that I was a Marketing and Strategy Analyst for a productized marketing firm.

I've taken a 6 month hiatus from anything entrepreneurial (content consumption or otherwise) after realizing how much time I was spending thinking about and pursuing business ideas.

Now I'm dipping my toe back in the entrepreneurial world with the goal of building a side project rather than another full-time business.

Hello, my name is Aemilius. I am working with my wife on starting an all in one nomad/travel community. She has built a profitable language course website, and I work in SEO and on other marketing projects. Before the pandemic hit we were both travelling Europe and we are looking for ways to bootstrap a profitable business within this industry.

  27. 2

Hey guys, I'm Kevin, I love to solve problerms for people and create stuff for specific user cases in my free time.
Sometimes I get many ideas for applications and websites that I think are interesting.
I spend a few time building out the idea, but i don't know what to do next to get people to use it.
I'm a beginner for that so I'm here to try to learn how to take my ideas come true.
    Thank you!!

Hello everyone, my name is Nathan and I'm a web developer who blogs at sebhastian.com.

I've been wanting to start my own project, but still don't know what app I want to build, so here I am to get more idea and find new friends who wants to build their own app too.

I will try to follow the "Start Here" page for now and see what I could contribute to the community. Nice to meet you all :)

  29. 2

    Hello, I'm Mark.

I've been working as a product designer for about 12 years. I love to solve problems for people and regularly build products for specific use cases in my spare time. Since the birth of my daughter I've decided to start focusing one project to see if I can turn it into a revenue generator.

I'm a massive fan of the 'NoCode' movement and I've recently launched a tool that I think could be really useful. So far I've had 1200 users try it out and 125 signups from just 2 posts in a Facebook group of 22,000 people.

My plan for 2021 is to deliver a bunch of user-driven features that help simplify the tasks they perform, some of the more premium features will be available under a subscription model.

    Hi,

i'm Fares, I love working on tech products, notably by marketing them and coming up with new ideas to optimise them. I have been working on a uni project for a while that I just finished and now I'm looking for someone to join me in my next challenge!

Hi All, I'm Sherod, I've been a software engineer for 8 years now. I've always dreamed of having a sideproject that makes money. I would like to build a b2b SaaS platform or something. I always get stuck in the idea phase and intial project design and talk myself out of building something. So my goal is to build my first side project for SaaS.

    1. 1

Hi Sherod, what industries have you been involved with in the past?

      1. 1

Hi Fares, I've been in finance most of the time from Bloomberg to Bitcoin exchanges.

        1. 1

that's pretty cool, there's always something to build in that sector. and in your work have you ever found something that caused problems for customers or that could just be better? Sometimes I find people related to my field (audio & advertising) and ask them if there are some things that they're really struggling with recently at work, it really helps me get behind the idea/project

          1. 1

I've been taking an interest in security. One of the things I've been looking into is how to secure their cloud environments. More around the access to servers and internal applications. I like the open-source model of a company like hashicorp.

            1. 1

I see, this is really not my area so I won't try to give advice on something that I have limited knowledge on, but I checked them out and they seem to have a wide range of products, it would be worth talking to their existing customers and see what things remain unsolved, that's a start!
I've seen companies this size focusing on big groups of consumers for monetary gains and leaving small groups that are still important with unresolved issues, might be worth exploring.

  32. 1

Hello Everyone. I'm Rupak - Founder of Vultus (live for 6 years now) and Culturely (in beta phase). I am here to learn about how I can build better products. I am interested in the HR tech space and want to share my knowledge and learn from other people. I am not a pure technical guy (coding or design) but can have a good experience building an app. :-)

Nice to meet all of you and excited to get started.

  33. 1

Hi Everyone! I'm Tuan. In 2014 I quit my job, sold all my things, said bye to my family and friends, and moved to a 2 bedroom apartment with 23 random people in New York City to learn software development at Dev Bootcamp. 6 years later, I am leaving my software engineering job to pursue my entrepreneurial dream and devote 100% of effort towards my project. I'm so inspired by all of the stories and posts here and hope to share my success story one day.

My buddy and I are technical co-founders working on a SaaS product for a small niche market -- the martial arts industry. The product is called ActionNote and it's a knowledge management platform for martial arts schools. We spent the last 6 months after work hours building a B2C app that people didn't really want/need and after making a pivot to B2B and sharing our progress with martial arts school coaches/owners the response was very positive. We've been working towards the goal of launching our MVP by end of 2020. It'll be barebones, but it's a start and I know with time we'll continue to make the application better.

There's a lot of the biz dev side of things that I am in the dark about, but I know will become clearer as we push forward.

Looking forward to connecting. Good luck all!

  34. 1

    Hello,

My name is Jacob and Iโ€™ve been obsessively coding for 10+ years now. I mostly specialize in graphics, audio and visual fx programming. My main language of choice is c++ but I also speak most c/c++ based languages.

The only side project Iโ€™ve successfully completed and launched is Sattern, which is a music coding environment written in c++, using the JUCE framework and Googleโ€™s V8 engine.

Iโ€™m a music lover/sound designer turned software engineer. Iโ€™ve worked in music, finance and experiential software industries over the last 10+ years. I love creating cross platform pixel perfect user interfaces and have been very deep into video fx/rendering for the last few years. Lately Iโ€™ve been very interested in data sonification and slowly getting back into electronic music composition.

Was recommended by a very good friend to join the community.

Hi everyone,am Samuel. Its a pleasure joining a vibrant community with innovative ideas.

The e-commerce market in Africa is worth over $100 billion which is hugely untapped.with population of 1.25 billion people in AFRICA.

Am here to connect and network.Am in dire need of a full stack software developer (Mobile & web App) who as background in data science as a CTO/Co-founder who is passionate about solving daunting challenges, goal getter, experienced, team leader and got the entrepenuership spirit and share the Same mindset in building a great products and a great company.

Hey there, I'm Adam, from London! I'm building Bickie, an audio platform for short, inspiring stories. Think Humans of NY meets Knowable/Masterclass. No celebrities or influencers. Just authentic accounts from everyday, relatable people sharing their wisdom so others can benefit. I'm a first time founder, hoping to learn from others that have succeeded and made mistakes building a B2C product. Hi. Iโ€™m non-technical sรณlo founder who is 7 months into building an app. But really I just wait around all week my developer to turn around the next build :) Seriously though, my developers are taking much longer than seems right, but (not knowing how long it really should take to code XY or Z feature) I canโ€™t be sure. Itโ€™s extremely frustrating, not knowing how hard to push them or when I should fire them and go back to the Upwork drawing board to find someone new. Our stack is Flutter/firebase/stripe.

I heard about IH, which sounds like a cool community, and thought maybe someone here could help. Iโ€™d love to find a co-founder or CTO but I know at this stage that may be hard. I happen to be a lawyer, and someone recommended offering a trade of legal research time for coding time/general tech help, which could be cool. At very least, any time I spend on IH should help me become more tech literate. Thanks!

Hi, Iโ€™m Sam, I work at incubator for a large manufacturing company. Iโ€™m a hardware engineer by trade but work in more product focused roles now. I have the all too familiar list of ideas on my phone to work on as side projects which is growing quicker than I can launch them. Hoping to get at least one out the door by the end of the year!

Hello, I'm Julien! I'm a software engineer in a big tech company. Aside from that, I've worked on different small projects. I recently sold the first of them, a marketplace for a very niche market. Recently I started to work on a project to help people doing prospection/lead-research on Instagram. It's a small chrome extension that enriches instagram profile (with email for instance), and allows you to add profiles to a list. You can then go to the app dashboard to download your list of profiles in a nice CSV file, ready to be imported in your CRM. If any of you are interested, feel free to reach out I'm about to start beta testing :)

I've been reading IndieHackers for some weeks now, so I thought I would introduce myself.

    See you around !

    Hello, I'm Isma!
I'm a full stack developer from latin america (Colombia)and love to learn new things, solve puzzles and technology in general, I have the idea of creating programming content for a while now, but finally I took the pledge and just started creating content about the (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQ1wDLJdYl8) Apple M1, and how does perform in programming, still deciding the name of the channel and how to keep a steady flow of content, and of course improve in general but.

    Step by Step I guess.

    Hello IndieHackers community!
I am from non-dev background, but embarked on being a self-taught developer/founder/product manager.. (not sure how that is going, yet). Going to keep at it until I get where i need to. We have a slew of products that we are building and the constant learning mode is super-exciting. Heard of IndieHackers community from a friend and raced to sign up here! Looking forward to share more details about what we do and seek community's help. Good luck with everything for the year ahead, folks!

    ๐Ÿ‘‹Hi there!

I'm Andrew. I'm an entrepreneur and designer with a history in UX and product. I started my journey making a playful iPhone app called MyRazor 10 years ago. https://vimeo.com/7673136

Between the free and paid versions of that app I managed to get over 2 million downloads in the early days of the app store. Since then I've been in and out of early stage companies in product roles, ran my own consulting company with a partner for about 2 years, and most recently worked on a crypto game called Bubblebuds.

I'm currently building a journaling product called Thunk at thunkjournal.com. We have our basic MVP working, and an invitation flow set up. At the moment, my main focus is to get over a fear of publishing that has been holding me back from making efforts to market and launch the product. It's easy to sit back and noodle on the product instead of getting it out into the world. :) It's time.

I've found the stories I've read on this site really inspiring. I'm looking forward to getting to know the Indie Hackers community.

    -Andrew

Hey all, Chris here. Did the whole software engineering thing for the best part of 15 years but I've spent most of 2020 transitioning into consulting and managing some non-tech investments. I split my time about 70/30 between London and Sao Paulo.

No immediate goals on here apart from getting some catharsis from listening to peoples' technical woes, so if you've got any issues around continuous delivery (or software eng. in general) and you need to vent, ping me ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hi Rosie and y'all there at Indie Hackers...
Name's Manuel and quite content that I've discovered IH by means of Hacker News. Thanks for the opportunity to join and grow with many others looking for venture!
I come from an (almost 20-year "hack") IT background, principally in support. I enjoy programming and am currently studying @ Datacamp--if all goes well, I may actually end up in a new career in Data Science. In the interim, I'd love to get a side idea in profitable motion, even if it earns me just $1 per day. The hard part, for me at least, is the creative side of business. I trust I'll find inspiration with IH. Good luck to us all! โœŒ

Hello, i am Yaro. I have been working as a Senior Software Engineer in BigData, Web (in verticals like Traveling, VoiP, Merchant, Ads processing) for 11 years+. Before i tried myself as entrepreneur several times.
7 years ago in merchant, selling building materials (via web site)
5 years ago, i had a resource for promotion Instagram accounts and reached top edge 1,500$ per month that kept for 2 years, that moved down and the resource also.

Currently i am feeling like i can something more than to be just a developer and be completely free from bosses, control my personal time as i want and have personal business.

I am here to learn as more as possible from you guys! To get motivation, ideas and share with my experience. Learn steps how to find myself, my market and take my ideas into real life.

    Hi

Thanks for having me on the platform!

Me and a friend of mine are in the process of building a SaaS platform.

Five years ago, I helped build a startup from scratch which went on to become quite successful.

So back again to square one ๐Ÿค—...

  74. 1

Hey! I am Ilia, and right now I am co-founder and CEO of Bitskout, SaaS platform that allows you to add AI algorithms without coding to automate tasks in Asana or Monday.com. We've launched Bitskout (totally bootstrapped) couple of weeks ago and I am here to learn all there is about acquiring users, facing my fears about selling and getting inspiration to push forward.

Previously, I've been leading innovations in large telco vendor building software products. I also have a side project called Saferoom that is an encryption app for Evernote and OneNote.

From my side, I can offer any advice on generating and picking ideas, product management, coaching people, working on customer success, selling to large enterprises and building competitive response.

Nice to meet all of you!

  75. 1

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm Joran and just launched the MVP of my side project Reditus.

Pitch alert ๐Ÿ˜ฌ: Reditus helps B2B SaaS companies to setup a Partner or Affiliate channel. We have built it from the partner perspective where you can join multiple programs and maintain everything in one dashboard. One login for everything ๐Ÿ˜ This approach gives great benefits to SaaS companies as well, partners can apply to programs via the marketplace which is a great way to setup a new scalable revenue channel.

I joined Indiehackers to learn from other founders and grow my Saas and help you all where I can. Lets grow together ๐Ÿš€

Nice to meet you all! ๐Ÿค—

  78. 1

    Hi Rosie, I'm Jake.
I'm here for help mainly. But hopefully I can be wise for someone else as well. I'm a front end developer with lots of ideas. I've tried to build a lot of them but each time I get distracted or bored of them so let's see what happens this time around. My current focus is an app for parents which will help you find activities (in the sense of playground / physical games, activities, movies, films, or anything else that would be classed as an activity) for your children. I'm building a database of activities and trying to organise them into suitability by category, skill type, location etc. Having ideas is easy, building them is super hard! The final outcome would like to be a service that will be subscribed to and let people add articles (maybe monetise) - this is a long way off. Anyway, Hi! :)

  79. 1

    Hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm San and I've been working as a full-stack developer for about 10 years now.

I am working on my own early-stage startup company (SanChip.com) trying to solve the problem that everybody has - a friendly, customisable database app that requires zero coding skills. Right now, I'm building out an MVP and trying to build up users.

    1. 1

      I'm San

Bubble and Adalo customers might be very interested.

I tried both, Adalo just doesn't have a database back up yet.

      Good luck!

      1. 1

        Hello, @Bambo0 !
        Thank you for reaching out.

Any good vibes are welcomed since I am working for couple of months now and making no money.

Adalo and Bubble are huge, and they move pretty slow.
Any new ideas/feedback that you have I can implement them 10x faster.

Are you interested to see a demo?

        1. 1

          I knooow...

          Yes please. Thanks.

          1. 1

All fields, views, filters any many other parts are 100% configurable
I did not finished the part where you can edit them yet, but you will get the idea:

            https://centrale.sanchip.com/

            1. 1

Impressive - the loading time is quick too :)

              1. 1

                Thank you! :D
Actually I do have new version, improved and even faster.
I can set up a dedicated app for you, just to play with it.

                1. 1

Is that the main product and this being a side product. If that's the case. Then a good strategy.!

Haha - If you could do that and offer it to Adalo (Ben H) they might be chuffed. Might even consider integrating it on their platform.

                  1. 1

There is a long road, ahead. I really like your idea to thing big. :) Adalo is a giant and I am still one man army.

Their idea is more complex, in terms of apps.
I would like to keep is simple and offer a beautiful, user friendly database interface to build whatever you like.

Anyway, I am buliding this product around the feedback/ideas I get.. so everyone can be part of it.

  80. 1

Hi everyone I'm Lior, I've been working as a data product owner and analyst for over 10 years, I have learned a lot about the difference between startups that grow to startups that fail based on the way they are using data.
I have written "Data is Like a Plate of Hummus" as a manual for anyone wishing to drive actionable data that focus on the user.
Nowadays I am working on my second book and on launching our final product "TADOps" which allow organizations to collect their data, store process, and visualize it with full e-privacy compliance.

Hello, Sajjad here, I have been a product manager all my life here in the MENA region (https://lmgtfy.app/?q=what+is+mena+region) working with hyper-growth startups acquired by Uber and Olx. Weird, my username is a play on the name Justin, and I see @jstn455 below. Hi Justin! I just made an online identity based on my annoyance at people saying "but thats just semantics" - when they actually mean the exact opposite. The word they were looking for is "syntax" or "grammar"- semantics is the study of meaning. So its like when people use the word "literally" to mean its opposite, which is "figuratively." I'm not formally trained in linguistics, but I've been cataloging types of bias, misunderstanding, and eventually conflict that are a result of language, and it seems like a vast battlefield filled with bodies. In a literal sense, many people have died violently because somebody else identified them as an "ist"; whether that was a capitalist or communist or monotheist or whatever isn't the point. The point is our social identity is more than finding a bunch of ideologies that we agree with when its convenient. At least it is if we want to challenge assumptions, forge a new path through social spaces, and maybe even think for ourselves.

Hi, I am Dima. I have an IT management background and have launched software dev/consultancy businesses in 7 different countries over the past 15 years. Half of them failed, some are decent, a couple I am proud of. Happy to share that experience if anyone is interested (domains include mobile-web dev, 3rd party solutions implementation, banking &fintech of all sorts). In other news - I will be launching a digital banking app focused specifically on small businesses. We will be offering company formation, bank account + MC card and professional invoices as an MVP product with tons of useful stuff coming later. Would be great to get some early feedback. HI! I'm Michael and I'm currently a business student and food enthusiast from Toronto, Canada. Currently, I'm starting a food business and we plan to sell jars of edible cookie dough AND edible edible cookie dough. We're looking to create not only a tasty dessert but a tasty alternative to current market marijuana edibles. Unlike with gummies and brownies with EDIBLE edible cookie dough not only can you choose the dosage of THC you're intaking, you can also save them for later (however later it may be) with a fridge life of 2 weeks and a freezer life of close to 3 months.

Currently I plan to sell only through e-commerce, and have a team of web developers working on creating an eye-candy-like website where you can order and also find facts about the product if you so choose.

My "Goal" right now is to make 10 sales through social media marketing, word-of-mouth, etc. BEFORE the website even launches (to test whether there is even a market for this type of good :3)

We are called Cookie DOH, our instagram is @cookiedoh.to if anyone wants to stay updated on our progress, as well as enter our giveaway for a PS5, 2 Fortnite Edition Nintendo Switches, and tons of free cookie DOH!

Hey, I'm Joe, I've been working as the first sales guy at early stage startups for the past nine years. I launched my own startup earlier this year called CheetahIQ. I'm currently learning how to use no-code tools and just finished writing a 70 page ebook on how to get clients using LinkedIn. LinkedIn can be a great place for early stage startups to get business but you have to know how to use it properly.

I want to connect with new people and help them grow their business. Acquiring customers can be harder than building the first version of the product so I'm happy to share what I know to help out!

Hey! I'm Michael, a long time reader of IH but finally just joined as a member. I'm currently working on a project called cryptotrak: a tool that lets digital asset holders view their portfolios and transaction ledgers on one platform regardless of where their wallets are stored. I've built other small projects before but this is the first that I'm taking the entrepreneurial route with. Nice to finally meet the IH community!

Hi, I am Yash. I am a 4th year undergrad student passionate to build and run a business.
But it seems like, I run out of fuel as none of my friends seems interested in any of the idea I shared with them so ultimately everything goes in vain.
It's hard for me to discuss something in public with those whom I don't know. I hope to counter this bad habit of mine in this platform with the community support.

This is Jay, co-founder of 3R Computer Systems Inc.

Since 1987, we have offered our expertiseย in the area of barcode based applications, system integration, data communication with mainframes .

Keeping up with the technology changes and customer needs, we are now focussed into offering a cloud based product line called RAASPI. visit https://www.raaspi.com

We are known as creator ofย the SaaS productย RAASPI,ย but what is it?
It is based on a simple conceptย that, there is a high level pattern on how a business or an organization ย runs. We have created workflow models based onย  these patterns and built new technology to generate theย software. This allows us to offer more to our customers at less cost.

On a philosophical level, the universe runs on patterns. So the concept may be simple but the result is very powerful.

The product lime takes Software as a Service to its next level, we call RAAS ie Ready Application As Service.

RAASPI offers predefined wokflow models for many of the business applications including Small Business, ERP, Manufacturing, Agency, Clubs & Associations, Event Organizers.
It is suitable forย any business looking for both e-commerce as well as built in back office support for sales, inventory, supply management and accounting.

Looking for ideas to promote the product to get more sales! Not easy!

The goal is to help you take GOOD short breaks from work.

Hey all! I'm Dhiya, a freelance tech writer. Although, I was on the engineer track before becoming a freelance writer and definitely planning to launch a whole other business someday. Random ideas often pop into my head and won't get out unless I actually try to build it. Then, I'd get stuck in the planning phase (not enough experience or knowledge y'see) and that's how it goes over and over again. So, I'm here to learn and prepare! Looking forward to learning from this community.

  131. 1

Glad to join this awesome community! (I gotta say the color scheme on this site is superb. will have to copy it sometime;) Came here reading Yvo's posts... You really do learn something new every single effin day.

Hey! Iโ€™m Eman. Excited to meet everyone here. My background is in political science but for the last few years Iโ€™ve been running the Scribesmith, a copywriting agency aimed at helping course creators scale their business.

And last week we just launched Terrain (knowtheterrain.io)

As we worked with course creators we spotted a couple of things, the most popular courses werenโ€™t necessarily the best ones, they were just the ones with the best marketing teams.

This means course creators with great content arenโ€™t able to get in front of the right audiences, and course takers get duped by misleading marketing.

So we wanted to tackle the problem the both ends by creating Terrain.

Terrain is a curated online course marketplace that finds, vets, hosts and markets the best courses on the internet, and put all of the courses in a central location (aka Terrain) so course takers can see reviews, compare options and make informed decisions.

And for course creators, we charge $0 upfront, so the only barrier to entry is good content. We run the ads, do the emails, and only take 25% of revenue (not profit). So we only make money when they make money!

With Terrain, everyoneโ€™s business growsโ€” course creators make more sales, and course takers find better courses to uplevel their skills.

  133. 1

Hi all! Great to meet you. Similar to some of you I am sure I always have a ton of ideas for projects that I think can help people and I think this no code movement may be really awesome in helping me actually make those ideas reality. One of the bigger ideas that I have been working on, that I think could be a really impactful company, is a marketplace that help connects new or small apparel brands to manufacturers all over the world. A big problem with people starting their own unique fashion label is finding a factory willing to take an order under a certain amount (often 300 units). I have been creating a list of suppliers that can take orders as small as 25. This marketplace would also help find manufacturers that are more sustainable, and that are in all parts of the world. If anyone is starting their own fashion startup, or knows someone who is please reach out as I would love to talk to them! I am still in the talking to users phase and am helping some small brands source factories and materials by myself for free. I have a lot of experience in international trade so I can answer any questions around those logistics as well! You can find my landing page here --- https://www.barter.st/

    HI, I'm Devon.

I'm a full-stack developer living in Belfast, I have my own company with the main focus being on client projects (startups, development outsourcing etc.) I have a few ideas for SaaS applications that I am trying to get released and gain some traction on, and indiehackers seems like a great place to do that.

Hey, I'm Graham, I've been working in tech since I graduated from engineering, building small startups. I now work at a Series A startup based in Montreal, doing growth.

I love learning and love building, and can't wait to learn from everyone about how they get started with their own projects and get inspired!

    I write here: grahammann.net

    Nice to meet everyone!

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome!

    My name is Steve.

I'm a small business owner that got into app development starting in January. We've built an app that manages Bluetooth devices, locates lost Bluetooth devices, and helps identify potentially dangerous Bluetooth devices. It will soon include "marketplace" functionality and we're starting our development process to add more valuable features.

We're getting about 1,100 downloads per day since launch and 82,900 in total (so far) but we're still working on our monetization strategy and implemention of a trial/free/premium (in-app purchase) funnel.

Hi very cool app idea, but too many in your face google adsense ads on your site. maybe limit it to one in the footer?

      1. 1

Totally spot on. I was experimenting with Adsense and Ad Inserter and left it on "Let Google decide where to place ads". Which resulted in the highly aggressive ads everywhere.

I left them in one place on the front page (Amazon ads) and in the footer (Ad Sense ads).

Hello, I'm Albert, from Barcelona. I've been developing web applications for last ~18 years ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿผ, sometime for other companies, sometimes for my self in form of side projects like Splitweet -one of the first Twitter multi-account services, bought on 2012 by Hootsuite) or Obolog, a free blogging platform that reached some popularity in LATAM.

11 years ago, I started my own company (Uvinum), with two partners, and I've been working as CTO on the company since May 2020. We grew, and sold the company to a big corp two years ago. I missed being small, getting dirty in the mud again, so I left the company to start a new project with an old colleague, and here we are.

While we're still working in this main project, last month we came up with a side-project (https://cryptoadvisor.club), to learn about conversational UX, chatbots and virtual assistants, and hopefully do something useful also for other people: we've applied an AIM-like investment strategy to cryptocurrencies through this bot, that will help managing a crypto portfolio and give active recommendations based on this algorithm and user preferences.

I hope to know other people starting its own bootstrapped business in B2B Saas, learn about other people experience and share our own, with CryptoAdvisor.Club launch and our next projects development.

Hey! I'm Dave and am a ML Engineer / Software Developer currently in Singapore! I found IndieHackers earlier this year through two of my developer/ founder friends and have been listening to the podcast since. Heyhey everyone, I'm Malcolm.

I run a business called TLDR and we build audio apps for "passionate pockets" of consumers. Apps like Imagine Golf (iOS) that delivers a 3-minute daily audio lesson on the mental game with 100,000+ users. I'm always building stuff and see that there are riches (monetary and otherwise) in niches.

Looking to connect with engineers, no code builders, marketers, and content creators who want to collaborate with me on building tools and content around personal and professional passions: Golf, Gaming, Relationships, Tech, Marketing, Leadership, etc.

Don't hesitate to say hello. Great to be here!

I'm in the process of productising my services and am experimenting with building my personal brand through Twitter and Substack - particularly from a founders perspective and the lonliness/mental wellbeing side of things. Looking to meet some amazing people that I can learn from and work with. Excited to be a part of this community!

Yo everyone! I'm Raphael, a freshman computer science student. I found this site on youtube and thought that I'd. be surrounded with same minded people. I'm still not used in the software engineering field and still studying, although I am developing an app right now (not a unicorn startup or anything, just something that I think will solve one of my problems). After I develop that, I'll try to figure out how to distribute/share it to other people and figure things out after that

Is anyone have been/in the same position as me? Thanks!
