Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Feb 14th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! 👋

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. 👇

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

If you prefer audio to reading, check out the Indie Hackers Podcast Network and find a show you like.

Now is the best time to start.

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post a question in the Meta group, or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! 🤗

Hello, I am working in a government company in Dubai. Besides, I started as a freelancer web designer 5 years ago.

I had some clients which came from my friends' referrals and from Fiverr. In fiverr.com I earned around $1800 monthly, but I was not able to continue due to busy full time job, which I am not ready to quit due to flexible working hours and the company facilities.
But I am passionate about tech entrepreneurship. My goal is to start a website design agency with different approach.

I heard about indiehackers from other website. I spent two days to make sure this is a community I required to achieve my goal.

I started a chatbot, spent around one year for that cloud application. Everything was worked well; unfortunately, I failed in marketing the software. Still I can restart the chatbot concept. I would like to provide this chatbot as a product of my website design company.

I need an inspiring partner to work with me to achieve my goals.

  56. 1

Hey all, I'm now on my 3rd company.

My professional journey as a designer trying to follow passion and love what I do each day has shown me how many people never get there.

My business partner and I are experienced project people (design & dev) and we've noticed that most project teams are run in a way that makes everyone miserable.

We fix that by teaching teams to work in a way that yields a high return on energy. This is a really new initiative that's yielded inspiring results and full team turnarounds.

Despite awesome results, I'm early on in spreading the message and connecting with others.

I'm here to connect with and support fellow journeypeople, especially leaders who are feeling that they and/or their teams are underperforming or underenjoying.

  57. 1

Looking forward to dive into this exciting community. I am a UX designer, Graphic designer and also a Full Stack developer. My name is Todd - I'm based here in Australia but have worked around the traps (mainly as a management consultant). I call myself a baby dev because I mainly just hack things together with code and no-code tools.

Right now I am proving out an idea I had to provide co-founder services for people who need someone to build their MVP as well as launch a few of my own product ideas along the way.

Looking forward to learning more about the community and helping as many people as I can too!

Cut down the learning time and minimise hurdles faced on this entrepreneurial journey. If anyone is interested, here’s the podcast: https://bit.ly/3qtqqLx

    Hey everyone!

    I’m Vadym, founder of Auxility.ca and Scalifier.com

I’ve been doing software for pretty much all of my life!

I started as and indie maker 🧑‍💻 before it was a thing, building anime websites and communities at the age of 13 on my grandpa‘a laptop.

I then finished a software engineering degree and a degree in Data Science, built my own software development company where my team of 50+ people built apps for huge corporations, banks, startups and individual creators.

I believe I am a good engineer, but over time I realised that being a CEO of a software company is sooo far from actually making software... 😢 It has become more about holding meetings and writing emails.

In 2021 I decided to return to basics so to speak! I’m resigning as the CEO and starting to build indie in public!

I am so excited to meet you all, please connect with me on Twitter and medium at @vadymhimself

    🙌

Hi @rosiesherry! Thanks for welcoming everyone! My name is Derrick and I'm tired of building things on my own, so I came here. I've lurked for a couple of weeks and I really like the vibe and positive environment here--the time spent here makes me want to work on my projects more, so I thought I'd say. If you're still reading, I'm an engineer and data scientist, most comfortable coding in Python, but will learn anything. I've built a couple of sites slowly getting page views, and now I'm going to graduate to my first SaaS which will help with sites create more content with their existing data. I don't even have a name for it yet. Thanks again for creating this environment!

Hey, I'm an ex-strategy consultant and PE investor now fully self employed. My partner and I started www.lockdownpresents.com as a passion project to support musicians during lockdown. It allows you to book a private virtual concert from a musician for special occasions and get togethers. We do that on a volunteer basis with any profits currently going to charity. We're open to having other people get involved if it's something they are passionate about. We've done about 500 bookings so far and think there's a lot of scope to scale

I'm also in the early stages of setting up a knowledge base and community for PE-backed leaders. Have been finding lots of useful info on here about different community platforms so thought I should finally join in the discussion! Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge.

  194. 1

Hey, I’m a Fintech professional for 10 years. Now, I’m assessing the idea of creating a fintech startup. To my best knowledge, a payment company is not something to be created over the weekend due to regulations, or to be validated with an MVP. Therefore I’m looking forward to different perspectives, and maybe find someone with tech skills to partner with.
