Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Feb 7th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! 👋

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. 👇

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

If you prefer audio to reading, check out the Indie Hackers Podcast Network and find a show you like.

Now is the best time to start.

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post a question in the Meta group, or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! 🤗

    Hey y'all,

I'm Jake and I've been a lurker on here for quite a bit but decided it was time to finally join the community. I'm a product designer at a SaaS company but I'm starting to venture into Indie Hacking.

I recently launched an info product — a home fitness system for Notion (homefitnessos.com) which allows you to discover, create, and log workouts. It also makes it easy to track nutrition and overall progress so you can achieve your wellness goals.

I'm new to this IH world, but I'm excited to learn from the rest of you in this community. Feel free to reach out here or via Twitter (@jacobrokaw).

Hey @jacobrokaw, it looks great! Congrats on hitting a new milestone

Hey! I’m Gloria. I’m a graphics designer and an engineering student. I discovered y’all from Apple Podcasts and I’m just here to sharpen my entrepreneurial IQ and see how I can monetize my other skill-Electronics repairs.
Thanks for having me here, really appreciate it!

I was wondering if y’all have an app though

      You are welcome Gloria

    Hi Indie Hackers,

Kieran here, I am the co-founder of ReferralHero (referralhero.com) (RH). We provide online businesses with out of the box incentivized referral software for products, we charge a subscription. We currently turnover $10k MRR. It's all 100% bootstrapped and growth is currently generated through organic referrals. RH has ben around for a while (5y) and the product has evolved from it's early iterations as predominantly a viral waiting list tool, it's now a full suite of tools, e.g 'give $10 get $10' type of referrals.

(example of our widget in action)
    https://example-3.referralhero.com/

The aim is to grow by 35 customers and get to $25k MRR in 6-weeks. We think we can do this by offering a concierge type onboarding, tech set up and referral coaching package. Historically RH has always been self-service i.e we don't really do any customer success. We realise this was probably a mistake, but hey, it's all about the journey of self realisation.

Looking forward to leveraging off the communities good vibes and updating on progress.

If anyone wants to connect please reply, DM, follow or email me at [email protected]

This is a very nice angle to affiliate marketing(correct me if I am wrong).

Looking forward to seeing more of you here. And would probably forward this to some of my networks.

      Good one.

Hi! I'm Ricardo. I am a medical doctor working as a software / machine learning engineer / CTO-ish at a teledermatology startup. Apart from that, I love working on other projects. I'm also a dancer and ex-swimmer, so I love sports too.

Some things I'm working on right now are:

    • drwn.io: a set of logos to visualize software better. You can use them to create presentations or copy them to Excalidraw and modify them. The website provides full-text search for the drawings (by title or tags).

    • litements: data structures and patterns implemented with Python + SQLite.

    • My blog

In general, I am always trying random stuff that catches my attention.

    1. 2

Wow, looks like there's nothing too difficult for you. Glad to meet people like that. That blog seems pretty interesting, especially for the "Recipes" section, so I'd check it out.

By the way, I strongly agree with your last sentence, in fact, I think that's what I've been doing my whole life haha.

      1. 1

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the blog, many times I was reading blogs when I really just wanted to see the code. Then I said, "I'll have a section that is just the code" hehe.

I think it's fantastic you try stuff as long as you make progress. Many things I enjoy doing right now are because I once tried it randomly.

    Hello Indie Hackers!

Alberto here. I am a Product Designer with a previous background on CS. I work for clients as a UX Consultant. Even though consulting is good, my aim is to build something that is meaningful to me; so, I always leave some time to side projects.

I built gurudelaguitarra.com along with a musician friend. It's a site in Spanish for learning how to play the guitar. Now I'm working on a similar project but this time the approach is to become a marketplace.

A few more things about me: my first language is Spanish; I'm a musician and play the guitar; I teach Design Thinking to CS students at university.

Excited to be here to share and learn from you all!

I'm here to learn and contribute knowledge in the community. If anyone would like to connect, feel free to reply to the thread.

Looking forward to getting involved with IH. 👏

    Hello Indie Hackers!

I'm Austin and I recently graduated Lambda School (coding bootcamp) and built and launched a simple web app that helps users reclaim, search, and explore all of their Facebook data. https://fbexplorer.app/

Me and my cofounder who I met at Lambda are currently working on a native desktop app that will expand the capabilities of fbexplorer and allow users to reclaim a majority of their social media data.

I'm very new to building in public and launching products but I'm excited to be connecting with this community and starting my founder journey!

    What are you working on?

    1. 1

Hey Would love to know more about this. We have been working on profiling users from different social media handles using different attributes.

  9. 2

    Hi everyone,

I love coding and talking to users, but I am burnt out from working with VC-backed startups. I am looking for a better way to sustainably align making money with working on something both I and a market of customers are passionate about. I have been most alive and self-actualized when I was a cofounder of an early stage company with no investors and tiny revenue (1 customer paid $100 / yr). We failed ferociously fast, but as I've read is the case for others too, I was left broke and in need of a steady paycheck. Hence, I focused on VC-backed startups where there was capital to pay me a decent salary while still having the upside opportunity to participate in the game of private equity.

For the VC-backed startups I've worked with, I have contributed as employee number 1-10 typically as full stack engineering hire, and usually inherit rough legacy prototypes that have been outsourced to contractors before I joined. When I would start with the founders, there was generally a high degree of anxiety and pressure to deliver a scalable MVP from the prototype code. Interestingly, the organization's investors are often the source of these pressures. The investors' short-term outlook on a dwindling ROI potential from the lackluster progress of their investment causes them to demand "growth" from founders, which trickles down to me on day 1 of the job to build the product. I've had to wear many hats, but the stress has been taxing.

Despite the stressful peaks and valleys along the way (and a one-off real estate deal gone bad), I did manage to stumble across a mediocre acquisition exit experience (it canceled out the financially ruining real estate deal). I am grateful for the journey as I have reached a clearer idea of what I value and were I want to spend my time. I now value slow, sustainable, consistent, wholesome ventures that are not afraid to end their own life if they think they've evolved into a bigger problem than the one they'd set out to solve in the first place.

I do rely on a full-time day job to pay for my life and family, but since COVID, I have found sparse bandwidth to start a podcast, Money Beyond Borders (https://moneybeyondborders.com/), helping people to develop a practical and modern education in personal finance.

I am here to read and listen to the stories of fellow indie hackers and maybe provide some wholesome help / insight in some way I can to add to the inspiration and support this community already provides to its members. Entrepreneurship has been a lonely road, but just knowing that there are others out there working hard in the face of uncertainty gets me fired up again.

Never give up - please reach out at anytime along your journey [email protected], sometimes we just need a little encouragement to get back to it :)

Mario here, and I am a founder looking to start a job board. I am a non-tech founder and yeah been learning on the fly. My searches always lead me here, so here I am.

  11. 2

    Hi Indie Hackers!

My name is Derek, and I'm full stack engineer with a focus on mobile. I've been in the mobile enterprise app world for ~5 years now. I'm here on IH to validate my side project, be involved in the community, and to potentially team up with designers, marketers, and other devs.

As I'm working full-time, my side project is more for fun and to hone my design skills... although I could get an MVP going if I worked at it for a month or two.

Looking forward to diving into IH
    D

    1. 1

Hi Derek! Thanks for following me. It's great to see that you don't have any pressure with you side project and you are doing it just for fun. I bet you know that Einstein said that play is the highest form of research, so I bet your MVP will be awesome when you release it.

I wanted to share a bit more about me, because my 2021 purpose is to help 5 aspiring entrepreneurs build a successful and meaningful business, so if you think I can be of any help, please reach out and we can start getting to know each other.

I spent 3 years, raised $600k, got into 500 Startups, spent 90% of mi life's savings (10 years of savings), and after 4 pivots, our company has not taken off.

Unfortunately, I have to quit my startup because we don't have enough capital to pay me a salary that supports my family (3 children under 5).

I am looking for a job, but I have decided that I want to help people with their businesses. I would have love to meet you 6-12 months ago so I could share all of my learnings.

I have learned a lot in the past 13 years as an Investor, Investment Banker, Consultant and Entrepreneur.

My life's mission is to help entrepreneurs build successful, meaningful businesses.

Please let me know if you would like to help with:

      • Validating business ideas, selling, marketing, business models
      • All things fundraising (preparing, executing and investor relations)
      • Make their businesses more efficient
      • How to navigate from zero to Product-market fit

Hey there! Jonathan here (@jonbstrong), working on growing my productized service - Spotlight Podcasting (spotlightpodcasting.com). We provide full service podcast production, helping businesses launch and produce shows. I've also got a couple of side projects, including two weekly email newsletters. Looking forward to connecting with more fellow indie hackers :)

Hey me and a friend were talking about the need for a similar service recently, seems like a great idea.

      Your website looks awesome too!

Hi, here is Daniel. I am a software developer that has some ideas hanging over my head and I would like to know if I can make them real. I hope to learn a lot from you all

  14. 1

It’s important I make this confession. My wife and I were planning of securing a mortgage loan. With which I couldn’t get approval due to issues of low credit rating such as hard inquiries, bankruptcy, collection accounts, late payments, and these got us totally frustrated. But thanks to RAYLINK CYBER SERVICES who came true for me after I subscribed to their services. They raised my score to 785, now I have been able to buy a home and car for my family, my appreciation goes to RAYLINK. His info: [email protected]

    Hey everybody!

My name is Octavian and I'm a software consultant in London, UK. I heard a lot about this community so I'm happy to finally have joined.

I would love to get your feedback on this product that I've been building part-time for a few months now called Airlou (https://www.airlou.com).

The idea behind this platform is:

    1. to provide inspiration to people that are planning to visit places for the first time but unsure where to start from
    2. allow users to visualize their own travel experiences and share them with friends and families
    3. help people plan their journeys quicker

The idea came from a personal frustration when it came down to planning my trips, especially within a pretty short timeframe. I always ended up rushing and probably missed a lot of cool places I could have seen had I had a community of people to inspire me.

I know the whole COVID-19 thing is making things very hard for traveling but I don't believe people will restrain from traveling forever.

I would very much love to hear from you guys. Feel free to reach out here, or on the FB page (https://www.facebook.com/airlou.official/).

    Hi all,

I'm Senthil, Content Strategist at a social network. We're bootstrapping for now. I'm looking forward to meet new people who are good at growth, which is a major pain point we're trying hard to solve. :)

    Cheers.

    Hey there!

I'm Can and I am a growth hacker at a SaaS company and I am recording podcast episodes about digital product environments. My education background is industrial engineer and I like to talk with numbers and graphs. I have been following indie hacker as spectator but I decided to join here as active user and here I am! I'm also extremely interested in gastronomy.

  18. 1

well I just clicked an I thought I was hooked up to the prime on my tv so if not I really don't know what im doing so you might have to coach me along. God bless! Godislove21!

    Hey everyone,

I'm Timo and I'm a senior engineer at a startup in Australia but a few months ago I started working on my own project in my free time: relayforms.com - a backend for your form submissions that can be integrated with virtually any other service and has a focus on privacy.

I know the idea isn't very new and there are already a few players in the market. I needed something like this for a website I was working on and decided to create my own. I really enjoyed creating it so far, but now that I'm on the last stretch from an engineering perspective, I need to start thinking about how to acquire users and actually sell it.

I'm hoping to learn a lot from the people in this community! If anyone wants to connect DM me here or on twitter @Timo_Hill.

  20. 1

    Hey all!

I've been a writer for a long time but have never been able to monetize it or even build an audience I could use to sell products. So the goal is to change that :)

Work as a PM at a tech company, but I've always loved tinkering with things here and there.

  21. 1

Hey! I'm Regan and I'm a web developer and not-currently-practicing attorney. I'm here to learn as much as I can about hustling and running a successful web-based side business (or full-time business). Working on a couple projects at the moment but excited to learn from the community.

  22. 1

    Hi Guys,

I am Sushant, I am the co-founder of Optimite.net. I'm so excited to learn from the rest of you in this community.

  23. 1

    Hey Indie Hackers,
My name is Lakshraj Doshi, I am an avid product enthusiast. Being an undergrad at an engineering college , I keep on exposing myself to different strata of topics to build effective solutions.

I have experience working in diverse industries, like being a PM at a micromobility company known as Bounce where I handled their KYC stack, onboarding users and hadnling tradeoffs between customer convenience & frauds done on bookings. I love to build products zero to one and was the first product hire at an e-procurement firm known as Gomigo (www.gomigo.com), where we created an omnichannel communication for easier onboarding of suppliers and lifecycle management of purchase orders.

Currently, I have been building Infloso is an open marketplace that standardizes and democratizes Influencer marketing and helps connect brands with influencers. We help brands of all budgets, sizes and types to build this trust with Infloso. We are currently in our beta stage doing live campaigns with 5 brands and 500 influencers.

I would love to garner feedback, suggestions from you all about the same of how should we build trust and authenticity in influencer marketing and create active communities of influencers.

If anyone wants to connect, please DM me on [email protected]

  24. 1

Hi, I am Tim and I have been listening to the podcast. I joined because I want to contribute, not only take.

  25. 1

Hi, Ro here and I'm looking forward to join your community. I'm a part time coder with some ideas, so i figured why not talking about then.

  26. 1

Hey, I am Christian. I am getting in touch with life again, restarting to learn and build. I like ideas that are new, helpful and profitable. And found some I like and are worth pursuing. So I can freely help others in thinking their projects a little bit bigger, if they like to. Not having anything pulled off yet that meets my criteria, this thought is a little bit bold. But that's me... I hope to inspire, to get inspired, and to connect, here. It's never 2L82 (re)start!

  27. 1

    Hey friends and indie hackers!

I've been searching for a community like this, a friend of mine told me it is the place I need, and am glad to have found you here!

I'm a developer and designer consultant from Canada, lives in Dubai. I'm super excited for the coming months of sharing ideas, resources, and making connections with people in this wonderful community.

Currently I'm building a community for UAE startups, investors and talents. Check it here (https://uaehub.vercel.app).

I'm supper exited and want to meet and learn from everyone here how to build successful and sustainable communities and products.

Looking forward to chatting more soon.
    Cheers 🙌🏼

    Hi everyone—

Where do I start. You know those people who buy countless domain names, renewing them year-over-year, only to never end up using them. Yeah, that's me.

For years I have been coming up with ideas, buying domain names, writing business plans, and failing to execute. Every. Single. Time. I think I've always had a fear of launching something before it's ready, but in reality that means I never launched anything. No matter how many times I hear someone say "never let perfect stand in the way of good enough" or words to that effect, it doesn't sink in.

The last year has been difficult for everyone. But, while extremely hard, it has taught me that I should get my shit together and start launching all the business, side hustles and passion projects that have been swirling around my heard for years.

So, starting in 2021 I made a commitment to myself. One that would see my launch as many projects as possible. And that leads me to today. A day or so away from launching my first new service—an outsourced email and marketing automation agency—I'm I'm feeling excited for what the next few months hold.

So I'm here seeking a some like-minded connections with fellow creatives, makers, domain hoarders and developers. I look forward to participating.

    —Ollie

    Hey everyone,

I'm Blake and I was just recommended this site by a friend of mine a couple days ago. I am an engineering student in Springfield, MO and a founder of a new mobile app startup... But I don't have much experience in programming.

I had an internship at a nonprofit the summer after graduating high school and lived in Nicaragua for 3 months. It was a life changing experience, and once I got back I knew I wanted to create something that would do more to help organizations like the one I interned for enact change in the world.

I'm pretty pumped to have had this platform recommended to me and hope I can learn from all of you!

  38. 1

    Thanks for the intro Rosie!

I'm Kathleen Booth, VP of Marketing at clean.io, a digital engagement security platform that helps businesses retain revenue and build stronger customer relationships by controlling the third party code that executes on their websites.

Prior to 2017, I was an entrepreneur and business owner who started and exited several different companies. Now, I help high growth startups build scalable marketing engines.

At clean.io, I'm currently working on taking our new product cleanCART (https://www.clean.io/ecommerce-coupon-extension-blocker) to market. cleanCART helps online retailers protect their revenue and user experience by blocking coupon code extensions such as Honey and Capital One Shopping from auto-injecting coupon codes at checkout.

Excited to be here and learn from you all!

Hello! I'm D'vorah. I'm a tech enthusiast that started programming at 17. I worked at the Human Genome Project as a programmer and there, I discover the power of intellectual property. Although not a very attractive topic (and something that's often overlooked by founders), I found in intellectual property a way to build a company I love while helping smaller startups make this world a better place.

20 years later, I'm as excited about tech as when I started programming!

I'm currently bootstrapping a SaaS company and this is a journey I don't want to do alone.

I've followed Indie Hackers' content for a long time but now I want to be part of this community, have conversations with other tech and startup enthusiasts, and be as helpful as possible!

I would love to get your feedback on it and most importantly finally join the community, because I have been listening to the podcast for over 3 years on and off, awesome stuff and has actually inspired me to start my own podcast, too! :) www.openschoolofbusiness.com if you care to check it out. Happy to being a part of such great community!

    Hi everybody !, Jhon here.
This may sound controversial to some people but I'm a Bussines Administrator. I fell in love with apps after seeing all the potential a simple app, even one built by a single person in his room, can have to improve people's life. So I started learning with all the motivation to combine my two passions, Bussines and apps.
I hope I can share some of my business knowledge and at the same time learn from all the beautiful people that makes up this community (because sincerely I'm still pretty new to this world). Also, in the way, I'm searching to build great friendships to make awesome products that help people.
Follow me if you want to connect or want to know about business (especially for investing) and some code (@J_Idrovo1).

I had enough. I am really keen to build revenue generating business. (Not the type of business which I tried and never made a penny.)
I have learned a lot already in the last couple of years now I started to kick myself to do something about it.

    Hi, I'm Iman from Australia.

I am a Construction Project Manager working in the housing industry, and studying Master of Project Management in QUT. I got 40 yesterday :)

IndieHackers recommended to me by a great friend that I admire a lot.

I have a side project: I am developing a construction management software, which I personally use daily. I hope to find a way to get other builders to use it as much as I use and enjoy.

The hurdle I encounter at the moment is marketing the app. I hope I can find some people here to help me find a way to get some customers.

My goal for the next 6 month is to find 3 new customers.

    Cheers, :)

Hey y'all! I'm Jelle from Belgium, full-time psychology, tech and start-up lover. I recently joined a SaaS start-up named Spott.ai, a platform which allows people to make their content (images, video, PDF) interactive by adding tags on it. These tags can serve different purposes, for instance to let people add a product shown in the content directly to their cart or to provide more information about a certain element.

I'm hoping to learn some ideas on growing our start-up and on general entrepreneurship practices which will come in useful when (not if) I'm ready to start my own business.

Looking forward to getting to know you and learning from you!

Hi, I'm Josh. I am an a data-science analyst and academic by profession but have run a couple of businesses too. Prior to my current new venture, I ran and eventually sold a webdesign and development firm that was based out of Singapore and the UK.

I have just embarked on a newsletter project titled: "Wait! Just Listen" http://waitjustlisten.substack.com

This (currently free) writing project explores the hidden stories around seemingly ordinary forms of data and its impact on our society, life and work.

The newsletter also provides snapshot studies on how various forms of publicly accessible data on major digital media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, relate to, reinforce and even challenge real world systems, cultures and practices.

Good to be part of this thriving community of likeminded individuals and if you have even a fleeting interest in social media, data and technology, get in touch and/or subscribe to the newsletter. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I'm Indri, a growth marketer and a recent grad passionate in leveraging early-age startup products to its biggest potential through marketing, storytelling, and data. I discovered this wonderful community through a blog post, and I'm excited to join other indie/startup creators, developers, and professionals.

I'm currently building a project management tool with a small team in NYC and Seattle – with a hypothesis of its usage for bug-bashing and transparency of information. We are currently going towards our alpha-stage, and aiming to get 100 customers before we go into beta. In addition, we are on a stealth mode, so we won't be revealing that much about the product until we are well into the beta stage, and unless if you participate in our user-research.

If you'd like to help us succeed in providing feedback or insights, or join us on our road, please feel free to DM me here or email me at [email protected]

Looking forward to provide value and learn from you all!

    Hello Gloria & Indie Hackers,

My name is Eric. I am an owner/ sales consultant for a timeshare termination firm. I would say it is more of a marketing company as our company does not actually perform the services we sell. We pay/hire 3rd party attorneys at a lower rate to perform our services than what our service fee is for our clients. That allows us to focus solely on marketing and sales. I am looking to expand and looking for partners who are skilled in marketing. If anyone would like more information and interested in collaboration please reach out.

    Thank you.

    Hi Indie Hackers,

I'm Pramod, from Bangalore, India 🇮🇳 (Twitter, LinkedIn)

    👉 About me:

    • Currently building Threado - an engagement platform that helps brands manage and grow online communities. We are an early-stage bootstrapped startup (team of 3).
    • Started my professional journey in 2007 with Bain. A weekend work project (Zomato) by a couple of my colleagues took off. Joined them in 2010 and spent 8+ years at Zomato focusing on user growth, marketing, community building and marketplace operations.
    • Moved on from Zomato in 2019, took a year long break before starting Threado

🧑‍💻 Keen on learning about how to build minimum viable solutions that solve a real need and do it for the long term, sustainably.

🥅 Goal: Ship an MVP solution every two weeks
While the core product of my startup has taken a couple of months to build out, we just decided to ship smaller products every couple of weeks to build momentum and get feedback. This week we released a SlackBot that makes it fun to express gratitude on Slack communities for example: SamosaBot. Planning to work next on a Zoom + Typeform product around breakouts/meetups.

🤝 What can I help with:

    • Anything around user growth, community building, brand marketing
    • Building/scaling marketplace operations
    • Beta testing new products and sharing feedback

    ✋ Where I need help:

    • Tech related (working with APIs, frontend help)
    • Feedback on the product/early beta testers from different markets

Looking forward to learning from the community and contributing to it.

👋 Jim here, hello. I'm building 2x side projects (1x serious, 1x fun) after 20 years "building other people's dreams" (ie. running a digital agency).

Before saying what they are I just wanted to say hi to @ilovewordsworth 🤗 ... Tash, you're the reason I'm here - I've just read your post and that sucks - I'm so sorry. I came and signed up to offer support in the form of hug emoji - it's all I've got, soz.

Our two side projects are... 🥁

💛 OneSub - a better way to read & pay for news. A balanced daily perspective on world news in the time you have available. Big v1.0 release live next Monday 😬

🎩 twiDAQ - a slightly bonkers Twitter stock-exchange game!.. technically started ~10 years ago and month-balled cos clients & bills & chores... Needs dusting off & relaunching this spring.

We're ~bootstrapped.. though OneSub did manage a crowd round of GBP 100k in 2019.. and our MRR is a whopping ~£100 .. which just about covers the coffee budget!

Good luck with all your projects and I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone. 🙌

    PS. Guilty pleasure: Emoji 🤓
PPS. Source of sanity after 2020: Kittens 🐱 (pics on twitter)
PPPS. Backup plan (if tech career nosedives): Organic herb farmer 🚜 🌱

    Hey everyone,

I'm shashwat, a software developer based in the UK. I was born and raised in India and moved to the UK for undergraduate studies.

I discovered indie hackers from a youtube video I was watching about online communities for enterpreneurs.

I have always dreamed of being an enterpreneur and running my own startup. As i have entered the developer life i am slowly realising that the monotony of a fulltime job where I don't really care about the products i work on is not for me.

Currently i am experienced in backend development with a speciality in API development in python. I have started working on side projects as a way to experience what its like to take an idea from concept to product.

The current project im working on is a note taking app designed to allow people to take quick notes on the go without compromising on security and detail.

Looking forward to being a part of this community.

    Cheers

    Hi hackers,

I'm Josh and I've been working solo for years, so I’m excited about broadening into more community by joining IndieHackers. My indie passion project is an iOS app called Lifechime (lifechime.com). My current little project is designing and marketing a sticker sheet, which is fun because of how much faster the process is compared to software. I’ll post about that on my profile once it’s up. Coming from engineering at Apple, I’m usually all about creating consumer-facing apps that go the extra mile with interaction design — but solid growth model is priority #1 for my next software project. My career started in tech support, QA, and UX, so I'm happy to help beta test – but be ready for feedback!

    Hello all,

My name is Ben, I work in the Emergency Room as a Nurse Practitioner. It goes without saying that the last year has been tough and has really caused an increase in burnout amongst healthcare workers in general, as I'm sure we are all experiencing! This burnout has led me to start a few side projects which I have been totally blind on until finding this community and Podcast! I currently publish 3 different news letters all with less than 100 subscribers at this point...

    https://thepoliticalmuse.substack.com/

    https://crackedgaming.substack.com/

and an investment letter which is on a private email chain. I am fairly new to the newsletter space but have recognized its challenges early on. This has prompted me to come up with my latest idea which would be a mobile app for newsletters, think of it like the apple podcast app but for articles. Separating them from email and allowing people to intentionally seek out the articles they want to read when they have time as well as a web landing page for authors to write and publish their work to the app. I have 0 coding experience and want to try to teach myself but have found the task daunting to this point, especially while working full time. I am excited by idea and love writing my news letters and hope to build and grow them so that I can get out of the rat race and practice medicine for the fun and helping others again! Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with suggestions or feedback on any of my letters or ideas! email and twitter below:

    Thanks

    Hey nerds,

I'm a software engineer looking to learn more about validating SaaS ideas and acquiring customers. By day I work backend on payments systems, and in my free time I work on games and game-adjacent services, like EFT-Graph (https://eft-graph.com).

I'm currently working on a tiny roguelike in the browser, as a way to build familiarity with game programming before this year's 7 day roguelike challenge (http://7drl.com/).

While games are my passion, I'd really like to create a service that can help users while helping me pay the bills 😊

I'm interested in learning to acquire customers, market a product, and find exploitable niches, and I'm available to teach about software architecture and development processes, etc.

    Hi Indie Hackers,

Adam here, I'm the founder of Websiteshot. The idea behind it is quite simple: automate screenshots - I can already hear the yawn ;) But: the difference and the big added value is on the one hand the easy integration into existing workflows and on the other hand the automation that comes with it. The whole project was created to solve a personal problem: regularly screenshots for documentations have to be updated. For example, if the header of a page changes, all screenshots need an update. I wanted a solution to automate this procedure.

My goal for the next 4 weeks is to have 50 users testing Websiteshot and validating the idea. For this I have described some example use cases to make an integration as easy as possible.

The complete product is 100% bootstrapped. That means I act completely independent and don't have to consider third parties when it comes to the roadmap.

I am looking forward to your feedback and especially to a great community here that helps me to bring the product one step further.

If you want to connect please just reply, follow or write to [email protected].

We are a young startup from Berlin, Germany, and our goal is to make recruiting in the educational sector easier, starting with nursery schools and kindergarten. I am looking forward to join the IH community for knowledge exchange and to meet some great people.

    Hi everyone!

I'm Sonia, a Software Developer from Italy 🇮🇹.

Although I'm very happily employed at a company that treats me well, lately I've been feeling more and more driven towards making my own products on the side. 😎

But while I really enjoy the building part, the rest (marketing, launching, pricing, finding a userbase) really scares me since I'm very inexperienced. 😰

Now I'm on the road to launching my first simple product on Product Hunt, in order to gain experience for the launch of a bigger product later this year. 🚀

I'm very inexperienced (and scared) so I hope I can find a community here to get feedback and also share my learnings! Let's connect! 😃

Hey! Edima here. I have been putting a lot of ideas on the back burner and 2021 is the best time to start. Looking forward to challenging myself, building, executing, failing, learning and starting a successful business or 2.

    Hi all.

I'm here because someone referred me to: https://www.indiehackers.com/group/newsletter-crew

I've been fascinated by subscription businesses and newsletters for a few years now. I'm bootstrapping a courses membership and will be starting another paid email newsletter soon.

I was in IT for 15 years before falling into Google Ads in 2009. I've run paid inbound marketing campaigns for clients since then, but use organic inbound marketing to get my own clients.

Looking forward to learning and contributing.

    Andy

Hi everyone, I've spent some time researching modern cyber threat landscape and now want to productize my findings in order to make cybersecurity more accessible to businesses which often find themselves under-resourced to address cybersecurity challenges.

Hey everyone, I'm currently working with a couple other people on a side project on social media. The vision behind the app is simple: build a platform for better conversations online. We're looking to start promoting our landing page soon (with a private beta version on the pipeline as well), if you'd like to follow our development story or would be interested in joining the community of early users, please do get in touch :)

Hi everyone! Newbie indie dev here. I just had this idea of trying out indie dev a few months ago, and quitted my software engineer job a month ago to clear my head.

Hope I'll build something soon and looking forward to getting to know and learn from my fellow indie hackers here!
