Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Jan 17th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

If you prefer audio to reading, check out the Indie Hackers Podcast Network and find a show you like.

Now is the best time to start.

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post a question in the Meta group, or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! ๐Ÿค—

I think thatโ€™s a really interesting space if you want to bounce some ideas around at some point.... Iโ€™ve been in Ecommerce for a long time time and constantly like to try and push new ideas there.

No one seems to have made a modern QVC yet...

    2. 1

I come from the fashion and retail industry and would love to try this out! I'm also developing a service for ecommerce retailers and would love to chat.

    Hi everyone,

Another software developer here! I'm a backend Ruby on Rails developer that has 10+ years experience working for an agency. That career is coming to an end in a few months, so I want to try to develop a product myself in the coming year.
I've seen multiple customers forgetting marketing & sales or not validating their idea, so I hope to skip those pitfalls.
I'm currently researching a number of ideas and hope to have a head start when I can switch full time to my new indie career!

    1. 2

Sounds great! I've definitely been guilty of building before validating before. Best of luck

    Hello everyone,

My name is Kamil, I was always a guy that does a lot of things, I basically started my first "service" business on the 2nd year of college. Now 10 years later I was involved in over a dozen projects, initiatives and businesses. Last year I started shaping myself and all the activities I am doing into a way of being independent man. I would love to share my whole story in an article that I am about to publish.

For now I just want to share with you my latest child which is a family of Slack bots under a "ubots" brand: https://ubots.xyz/.

After 10 months from launch we have over 4000 active installations, real MRR, we just released a beta program in our newest bot (https://ubots.xyz/expenses/beta/) and we are thinking about hiring first real employee for marketing activities.

I spent a month in Ireland on a study abroad trip in college and loved the entrepreneurial spirit. I'm curious, are you from Ireland or did you move there for business?

Hi everyone! My name is Piash Alam. I work full-time and work on a couple of side projects. One of them is the DTC eCom site Boneshaker Bikes (https://boneshaker.bike). I find the Indie Hackers community very inspiring, and I am joining to interact with the community more actively.

    Happy to be here!

  19. 1

Hey! My name is Maciek, and I started my side-project this year, so I'm a rookie here.

I've been running an explainer video company for a couple of years. But I got tired of working on commercial projects only.

So I decided to use my visual explanations skills to do something more artistic and fun. And I started to visualize the quotes and concepts that I find interesting. So I set up a Twitter account (Stay Luminous) where I post the new visual every day.

I have no idea where it will lead me, but I hope that it ends with some independent business that helps people.

I just heard about this platform on ClubHouse which I joined last night. So lots of new experiences, information, sign ups to new platforms and I am feeling somewhat daunted! Haha

I am an established DJ, Producer and music maker. I performed in front of over 100,000 people in the last 8 months with a popstart.

I am also a Java programmer and wish to create a solution that will serve my career as a creative. Once it works, I'd like to offer it to my other creatives that need help with automating business processes to make a living so they can focus on creating!

I wish to share my idea with you guys in hope of finding a collaborator.

Look forward to the adventures on here.

    Cheers,

    Dee

Hey everyone, I'm Lindsay and I'm building a service (Storavalu) to help you literally cash out of bitcoin. I mean getting actual cash without going through your bank.
Would you use a service like this?

This service essentially lets you buy goods from Walmart with your bitcoin/ crypto but with the option of returning the item for cash, like a normal return. The way you can get cash with a return is if cash was the original payment method and you have the original receipt. That is where the service comes in. The service accepts bitcoin as payment, converts to fiat, then pays in store with cash for you.

    Feedback appreciated!

I've just got a public landing page now which I'd love some feedback on and I am working on the tool over the coming weeks months. Happy to answer any questions.

Looking forward to know some people here and learn new things :)

Hey! My name is Tom Swift, and have been a full-time solo web dev/app dev consultant since about 2006 - but for the last the year or so have been trying to build some products that can drive some recurring revenue. So I'm excited to join the community and learn as much as I can. I am always coming up with ideas, so I hope to learn about ways to test, validate, and market my original ideas.

Currently building a Covid-19 vaccine volunteer matching service to get shots in arms before the vaccines can end up in the trash. - I don't want to spam, just reach out, I'd love to talk your ear off about it. AND get your feedback. Currently on day 5 of building (1/21/21)

Thanks allowing me an opportunity to join this community!

Hello there! My name is Cristian, I am 32 years old, from Romania, programming since 2015, I built a Luxury River Cruise ships agency called Aurasjobs (https://www.aurasjobs.ro/?lang=en) which in 2 years arrived at a monthly income of 5000 Euro/monthly. Due to the Covid situation, all cruises are blocked. Reason why I joined and finished Microverse Remote Programming School which I managed to finish in 5 months. I am actively searching for a permanent developer job but I also have lot's of ideas of startups.

I am very passionate about programming, building projects and helping others. I am curious what my experience with Indiehackers will be.

    Best regards,

    Hi guys!
I'm Federico from Italy, currently working for tagvenue.com.
We introduced few months ago a team building platform (virtual.tagvenue.com), with a great success for Christmas (more than 300 companies bought it!), but we are struggling now to acquire more interested users.

I'm here to find and share ideas about sales and marketing, mostly with no budget LOL!

Hi everyone! I'm working full time in mental health tech & am starting a company in the space as well called Equal Health. I'm on a mission to make mental health services accessible to everyone. I'm currently working on my MVP and would love some help!

Hi guys! My name is Dave, I am super passionate about building stuff in the ecommerce space. I previously built a web app for apartment hunting by students as a side project, signed up thousands of users and hundreds of apartments.
I am currently building an MVP for an ecommerce app driven by local retailers and shoppers. Got 5 major beta signups so far! I am technical but don't code except for SQL.
Glad and excited to be a part of this community!

Hi Dave! I am building something for ecommerce retailers that might be of interest to you. I'm new here but would love to learn more about what you're working on.

Hi Carrie! Good to hear from you. I am working on an ecommerce app that deviates from the way typical ecommerce works. I have explained it here: https://www.lumacart.com . Feel free to reply with questions if you need more clarity on the idea. What are you working on?

  67. 1

Hi! My name's Gabbie and I'm a rising freshman majoring in Economics & Stats in Hong Kong. I use to run a stationary store in primary school (which failed), multiple of Instagram accounts to sell bits and bob, and an ecommerce site (that sorta worked since it generated over thousands of revenue - good enough for lunch money - and sold the domain eventually!).

My latest venture is a Facebook group (for the mean time but we're on Instagram too) where students across Asia (@asiastartupsama) can rely on for support and inspiration (since there's a lot of places where entrepreneurship is not encouraged) which is why I'm on Indie Hackers to learn a thing or two about community building. Hoping to connect with people here on the platform along the way too :)

Hello everyone. My name is Ashwani Paliwal. I am a systems programmer and an information security evangelist. I am working on building my own cybersecurity venture called SecOps Solution.

I am building an agent-less cloud security platform for securing infrastructure and application of enterprises. I have built a basic MVP and am currently in the product validation stage.

I am happy to be a part of this community and wish to learn more on b2b sales side of things.

Hey everyone! I'm Brian Anglin. I'm super curious about psychology, technology and security. I've explored those passion through all different experiences--I've joined the founding team of a 5 person startup, built a micro-saas for my high school, traveled in a van for 2 years while working remote for GitHub. I'm beginning to explore building for myself again after largely focusing on other pursuits for the past couple of years! Excited to be a part of this community!

    Hi everyone!

I hope you're all doing well and staying safe. My name is Tia Kelly and I'm the founder of a remote public relations agency based in Dallas, called KEFI PR. (www.kefipr.com) All things digital branding, social media, event planning, and PR is my jam. I launched the company on the 1st of this month on a bit of a whim. Long story short, I was tired of waiting for a PR or marketing job opportunity to get me through the pandemic.

I'm currently diving more into SEO, learning the ins and outs of it. Feel free to send me any tips! I try to educate aspiring PR professionals and small business owners as much as I can on public relations and digital marketing with our social media and blog. I'm excited to be a part of the community and I look forward to reading all of your posts!

    Hello Indie Hackers!

My name is Philip and I'm a software engineer based in Dublin, Ireland.

In my free time, I maintain a site devoted to the collection, presentation and analysis of bike share scheme data. At the moment it's a (mostly) mobile friendly site which shows live data across most of the major bike schemes in Ireland and the UK. It also features a couple of data analysis tools, and a blog. It's over at www.schemestats.bike.

I'm here to learn from the experience of others who have successfully gained a strong user base for their site/app, and hopefully get some opinions about features. I also hope that I might be of some help to others when it comes to advice on the technical side of things.

Looking forward to taking part in this community :)

Hi everyone, my name is Hari from Austin, TX. I'm excited to dive deeper into the Indie Hacker community. Have a couple of ideas rattling around, but not entirely sure the best place to start, but excited to get going and learn from this great community.

Hi! I'm Jakub. I started coding in primary school, and since then, it was a life-defining skill for me. Having a few years of experience as a Lead Software Engineer in smaller startups, I wanted to build a product on my own.

There are many great culinary recipes out there, but most of them come without their's nutrition value. I thought that a tool that automatically calculates those values out of ingredients could be useful. So I created it. Apart from the calculations, it's also an excellent search engine for recipes. An early version was done for the Polish market and can be seen here: https://kcalto.com/ (it's in Polish, but Google Translate does pretty well ;) ).

With the initial version released, I now focus on augmenting the blogs with nutrition value's tables. I hope it will bring some early-adopters to the site - and organically grow a community around this. The hardest part is still ahead. :)

Cheers everyone! My name is John and I'm based in Indianapolis, IN. I'm product team/entrepreneur-facing. I'm really interested in startup communities and ecosystems - shout-out to Brad Feld. I'm with Near the Box - a lean, 5-person MVP/Prototyping technical partner to non-technical founders based in Detroit/Indy/Chicago. Though we're vertical-agnostic, healthcare/healthtech is the industry we've had the most recent impact in. We feel there's a lack of technical partners who genuinely care about the long-term success of founders and their startups. Our mission is build digital products that truly make a difference in people's lives.

Hello beautiful people of the world! My name is Amir Bomani and to keep it plain and simple, It's my goal to create and collaborate with businesses to create a more positive world that will enhance our existence on this planet.

Currently, I'm working hard to make products with my closest friends. I am the creator of dreadytennis.com, a subscription based service where every week we breakdown a specific tennis shot and run a slack community where we provide off court coaching and answer strategy, technique, and fitness questions.

My Favorite project though is My Fashion brand, Bomani Fashion ( bomanifashion.com ). I started an initiative called #ProjectPositive ( https://project-positive.webflow.io/ ) where I used a few nocode tools to create a platform that allows you to send a positive text to anyone, that message gets converted to a tweet and the tweet with the most engagement every week gets 10% of our weekly revenue.

I came to indie hackers to find a community of like minded people. Honestly I don't really have anyone to talk to about this world of creating and problem solving so it would be cool to be apart of a community of people that think like me. I hope everyone has a positive day! Thank you

  91. 1

Hi All! I'm George. I hope everyone is well? I own a small graduate recruitment agency here in the UK and not long ago transitioned into the graduate job board market as well. Excited to learn more about you all along with your ideas, feedback and more.

    Thanks!

  92. 1

Hey everyone! So glad to have found this community. I am a software developer who has just created an app (with my friend). This app has a fresh take on social media as we strive to connect people through their honest experiences with products and services. It's especially relevant now given the rise of digitalisation and e-commerce. We have managed to raise some funds but as the concept is quite new, we have to put in more effort to build the awareness. Looking forward to learn from the community here!!

Hey guys, My name is Jeevan Betigeri, and I am from Dallas, TX. I have been a part of multiple startups and I run my dev shop as well. One of my startups that I am very proud of is betafy.co which is #2 in PH on 2016. Currently working on brandarmy.com

Hey all. My name is Jen and I am definitely new but blown away by this forum. I have had an idea churning in my mind for 2 years and am ready to get it out into the world for a test drive. My background is in strategy, user experience and advertising, so I am out of my league in the tech arena. Hoping this forum can help me prove my concept and figure out how to develop an MVP for beta. Excited to get things going.

Hi guys! My name is Sophia O'Neal and I'm a brand and marketing strategist for startups looking to create her own "next big thing". Currently, I'm building my freelance client base so I can start a marketing agency that specializes in branding and G2M strategy.

But in my free time I'm learning no-code platforms so I can build something of my own. Not sure exactly what, but I'm leaning towards tool(s) for founders, small business owners, or freelancers.

Excited to be part of the community!

Hi, I'm Abdul and I'm 3 months into a new Head of Marketing role for a B2B tech company that has found itself. I'm busy building the resources and tools our partners need to understand our product offering and communicate that to their clients. We're a white-label provider focused on Local Pages at the moment. I'm a one-man team and focused on a little bit of everything, which can be challenging, but I'm figuring it out (IndieHackers has been a constant source of inspiration) and having fun too.

The company is called DevHub if you want to check it out and share any/all feedback you guys have.

    Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!

I am delighted to be a part of this community. I read your intros - amazing people gather here! Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Vladimir, I am 30 years old, I am Belarusian. This is the same country from the very center of Europe, where the president went crazy, and we are slowly rolling to North Korea :(

I have also been leading IT products and teams for 10 years. Worked for Yandex Corporation and made Yandex Browser. And he worked in a small company and made the world's most extensive shopping assistant for Aliexpress - Alitools.io.

Now I started working on my startup. I decided to combine my Browser and Browser Extensions competencies - this is how the idea of โ€‹โ€‹a product enriching a new Chrome tab was born.

I've already put together a team. I'm at the prototyping stage. It will be an exciting journey :) Mostly because I decided to bootstrap this project and not look for investments at the start.

I will try to figure out how everything works here to get the most out of this community and try to be as useful as possible for it.

This will be my first experience in developing and launching a B2C product on the US market. Exciting. If someone is ready to share their knowledge, I will be grateful. Also, I am currently looking for someone on Upwork who could help me with the interview. If you know this and can recommend it, or you can help me - let me know!

Have a nice day, everyone, successful launches, and don't get sick :)

Hi everyone! I'm Heloise, a bookworm and passionate about learning new things. Right now I'm learning how I can build a bilingual website so I can start my new side project and having my own blog. I'm also working with MightyForms (https://www.mightyforms.com/), an amazing tool that allows anyone to build responsive and beautiful web forms.

    1. 1

      Hi Heloise!
I'm curious, what's the side project?

      1. 1

        Hi Sophia,
I call it a side project, but it's something really small. It is a blog, Still on the planning and learning part, about writing content and digital marketing, you know, a subject that is in constant growth. I want it bilingual because I can't find much in Brazilian Portuguese about it. And I really hope I can help people that want to know more about becoming a content writer. That's it.

        1. 1

That is really cool! Portuguese is on my language learning list (my boyfriend speaks Spanish, which I am also learning, and we would love to be able to travel to South America and be able to converse without a translator).

          best of luck!

Hey Folks, I am John Kurian, Cofounder at Corz.io(https://corz.io). We are building an Automated Cloud Cost Management and Optimization platform targeted at developers and managers in an enterprise. The platform is live currently and we are building out incremental features. Wonderful to connect with the community here!

Hey, my name is Jaka and I am from Slovenia. Finishing my Tourism studies but I am a geek as well. With some other students we started a marketplace for booking local experiences. I am in charge of B2B community we are building. Currently searching for a platform that will do the job. Have my eyes set on Mighty Networks, but not sure yet. I am not fan of the UX over there.

  106. 1

    Hi Squad,

My name is K.J. and I am Co-Founder of Royal VI ,a luxury watch brand based out of Dallas, TX. The brand was co-founded with my brother Corey who is also on the platform.

We have a lot of exciting content and products we are about to launch into the market. Including a new publication/community that we are starting to help founders on their path to success. Our watches are the daily reminder of the core values of the brand: immense action, taking control, and escaping the status quo. We are excited to be able to share and learn from each and everyone of you on this journey.

  107. 1

Hi, I'm Wes - an expat/digital nomad living in Chiang Mai.

I've been programming since the 70's, which is to say I've coded "Hello World!" in languages from FORTRAN to Haskell to Kotlin on platforms from VAX's to torpedoes (one of the earlier forms of mobile).

I'm getting ready to release oldfrog.world - an app to help folks learn Japanese by capturing their whole engagement with the language - so that years from now they'll have both fluency and all the souvenirs of experience, the words, the sounds, the stories along the way.

  108. 1

Hey everyone! My name is Chase. I'm a recent college graduate and an imminent software developer.

I intend to use this space to interact with other hackers who are progressing and overcoming challenges in their side hustles.

My goal is to build up my personal brand through content creation, mainly in the software, productivity, and business domains. I would also love to begin creating digital products, which I'm sure many (most?) people here have done successfully.

Looking forward to learning from y'all!

  109. 1

Hi everyone! My name is Chris Fanchi and I head up marketing at Backendless. I'm looking to spread the word about our awesome no-code platform and help the community see that we are much more than just a backend.

With the release of our UI Builder last summer, we are now a true "full-stack" no-code tool, meaning you can build anything you want without needing half a dozen tools and fighting through pages and pages of integration documentation.

You can build your frontend, backend, database, push notifications, emails, landing pages, and tons more, all in one place and completely secure. We can't wait for you to try it!

  110. 1

Hey everyone! My name is Alec and I live in the Boston area. I currently work full-time as a product manager in a professional services firm working on energy efficiency products for utilities. I have also run a small handmade business making laser cut wood items for about 2 years. I sell my work at craft fairs (at least when we're not in a pandemic), at a couple of local shops, and online through Etsy and my own website.

So, why am I here? I have wanted to start a technology business for a long time, but thought the only path to doing it was the typical VC route until I came across this community and realized there was another way that fit my personality a lot better - indie hacking / bootstrapping / self-funded / whatever you want to call it.

I'm working on a web app to help people find local craft fairs and connect with makers. I have some web development experience, but I decided to try building it on Bubble to get it out into the world more quickly and be able to iterate until I find what works.

I'm looking forward to being part of this community to stay motivated and learn from all you smart people out there!

  111. 1

Hey everyone! Tyler here. I work full-time as a writer & marketing director but in my free time over the past several years I've spent my free time building a blog following, contributing at Huff Post, and launched some successful online courses on Udemy.

Most recently, I've been working on building Learn Stash with my friend Emilio (@learnstash). It's a personal growth directory we created at the start of the pandemic that contains curated learning recommendations for specific personal growth paths (I.e., books, podcast episodes, courses, and products all related to habit building). The hope is that we can encourage some guided browsing/shopping that's actually good for you and an investment in your future self.

It's been a great experience so far as I'm putting my content writing skills to the test and my friend is stretching his design and development skills. Looking forward to learning from this community as we inch closer to a Product Hunt launch soon!

    ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ Hi, guys!

I'm Roberto, an anti-bullshit digital maker that has waited too long to write this message. Partly due to a considerable imposter-syndrome, in part because of being burned-out by big-corpo dynamics at my previous job.

But here I am! I've just launched two products to salute you:

๐Ÿ“ฉ Maker's Way -> Short and sweet case studies covering how successful makers are going from 0 to $100k with their digital products.

๐Ÿ’กlitpath -> A tool to build a connected and organically categorized personal knowledge base (currently in beta).

Though I have a business background, I've been covering for the past ten years the end to end of digital products (Inception, design, development, ownership, management, etc.), so I'll humbly try to help anyone going through a stage I've been before, at the same time I learn from each of you.

    See you around!

Hi everyone! My name is Mike and I'm building a digital tour app & web marketplace on the weekends. It's been pretty slow-going as I'm still working a busy 60hr/wk job in the actuarial space and have been learning web development along the way. In particular, I'd love to hear about how others learned development and built their own software products!

Hey there indie hackers. I'm Erik and I've been writing about podcasts via newsletters and articles for a few years now.

Decided to take the plunge on a new project and looking forward to posting my progress here. It's a new site/newsletter called The Featured Image that is all about visual creativity for writers and creators.

What are the tools anyone can use to draw or illustrate their own work as a non-artist? Who are the people doing this now that would serve as inspiration? Where to begin?! That sort of thing.

Hi Rosie and fellow Indie Hackers. My name is Natalie and I am happy to meet your all. It's great to be in a place where people share in the ambition to build for positive impact.

Right now I am focused on building solutions for remote freelancers, specifically to help freelancers find more clients and a stable source of revenue. My first product is Freelance Notion, and operating system for freelancers built using Notion.

Hi there! I'm Cesc Vilanova, from sunny Barcelona โ˜€๏ธ

I'm a former videogame designer, turned into an entrepreneur (achieved around 2kโ‚ฌ on average monthly revenue but eventually failed), turned into a product manager, turned into an intrapreneur (leading a team from prototype to several $ million acquisition). I'm now working as a Chief Product Officer of the company that acquired us ๐Ÿ’ต

I've worked on half a dozen side-projects in the last 10 years. The most money I've done with any of them has been around 700โ‚ฌ. Most of the projects have been related to e-commerce and original physical products ๐ŸŽ

This is a nice place I'd like to be in 4-5 years: Having my family expenses comfortably covered by the profits generated from a bootstrapped subscription-based product ๐Ÿ“ˆ

The end goal: working on whatever makes me feel happy and fulfilled, independently on how much money I make in these activities ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

I'm looking forward to learning with and from all of you and to building cool shit in 2021!!

Hi Rosie & all the awesome people of this community,

I am Sudhama, the Founder of Track, https://thetrackapp.com, the fastest calendar experience ever. Time is one of our most valuable assets and we are building a tool to let people achieve their highest potential. As Rudyard Kipling said in the poem IF - "If you can fill the unforgiving minute, with sixty seconds' worth of distance run, yours is the earth and everything that's in it."

Meeting amazing people is the most rewarding part of a founders journey and I hope to connect with you all.

Lastly, I am a huge Tennis and F1 racing fan. I grew up watching an insane amount of tennis . Also played a bunch of tennis too. My dad used to wonder how I could watch a ball go back and forth across a net for hours on end! :)

Hi everyone! Finally, joining the community after many months of reading IH posts without participating.

    Cheers!

Hey, I'm Tony and I write a newsletter on substack called The Polymerist. My goal is to write about chemical industry news, build a community of chemists and chemical engineers, and to try and write about the things I've been wanting to read about the last five years of being a professional chemist.

Another thing that I find annoying is that it is easy to paint the chemical industry as some sort of "bad actor," but this is the industry that enables our modern lives. We don't have AWS servers without the plastics and semiconductors that chemical companies produce. We don't have lithium ion batteries without companies like Albemarle and even Teslas need rubber tires and brake pads. I hope that my newsletter can eventually educate the broader public on the importance of how chemistry and chemical companies play a role in our everyday lives.

Love reading a lot of the stories on here. They are compelling and inspiring. Nice to be part of the community.

    Hey Indie Hackers,
I'm Gokul Madan and very excited to be here. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur and have started down different ideas over the years but never seemed to be able to take it to completion..... until 2020.
As the world went into lockdown, I decided to build a platform to help restaurants digitize their menus and enable social distancing - hunQRy.online. Fast forward 8 months, and the company didn't go anywhere but the entire experience was incredible.
I want to keep building things that have real impact in the world and have more freedom (both with time and finances).
I have now moved on to my next idea and am very excited to learn from this incredible community of entrepreneurs.

Hey there, I'm Philip an R&D Engineer currently working in Medical Devices -

I have a runway (not the typical one that we associate with startups) of about 16 weeks left at my current job before I will be unemployed. My contract with my current employer is expiring in May 2021 and will not be converted to a permanent one due to my department having to downsize unexpectedly. I'm completely at peace with this even turning down a permanent role in another less interesting area and don't have any desire to seek out permanent employment afterwards of which there is plenty as the medical device industry is pretty robust even during downturns in the economy.

I have been aware of IH for about a year and have been upskilling designing websites with Figma and Webflow in parallel to my current job for a while now. Ever since taking my first job I have always planned to at least try to work for myself one day and now I'm ready for this next chapter fully aware of the ups and downs that lay ahead, I plan to initially build a niche web design service and look forward to joining in on the conversations on Indie Hackers.

  164. 1

Hey, I'm Ziggy. I'm a marketer who likes to spend his free time working on fun little projects. I'm currently at the early stages of working on OpenBackgrounds.com. An open-source background image resource for anyone to use. It's helped me defeat lockdown boredom and opening the fridge door 100 times a day :)

Looking forward to contributing to the community and learning from others who are much wiser than me!

    1. 1

Hi Ziggy! Your resource is awesome! And you have a great sense of humor, fridge reference made me chuckle :)

I'm in product management and open to validate ideas on how to make your product more engaging.

  165. 1

Hi! Iโ€™m Raisa. I worked at a corporate job for the last 15 years & overall it has been great. I was paid well for a specific set of time and the stability allowed me to focus on growing & supporting my family.

I set a goal for myself in 2020 to be independent - where I make money by working hard at what I want to do - by 2023.

Year 1 was focused on eliminating the mortgage, writing regularly & taking a few side consulting gigs to test out my skills outside of a corporate setting (Covid impacted these plans in unexpected ways).

This year I want to continue my writing & explore ideas around what it is that I actually want to do.

    1. 1

Hi Raisa! Great to have you here! I'm in product management, open to networking and collabs on ideas :)

  166. 1

Hi, I'm Sune. I'm a content creator on YouTube (mobile gaming-related videos), and I'm working on a platform (web + Android/iOS app) to fix mobile games discovery, which is severely lacking!

I love connecting with fellow product and content creators, so don't hesitate saying "hi" :)

    1. 1

Hi Sine! Nice to have you here. In case you need someone to bounce ideas, I'm available :)

Hi, I'm Alex. Have been a management consultant in the area of growth and go-to-market strategy for 10+ years. I'm thinking about starting a no-code app around the idea of value proposition development / service design approach. Looking for inspiration and tips on how to start.

    1. 1

Hi Alex! Hice to have you here. I'm in product management and open for collabs on ideas. I'd say initial step is to do a preliminary TA/market research and data collection to validate your idea assumptions. Then create a roadmap for your product and move forward implementing it.

  168. 1

@rosiesherry hi, just joined in. Have been a Banking Professional for nearly 4 decades. Basis my experiences during this journey, have evolved some ideas & wish to introduce some niche regtech solutions for regulated entities. Looking to connect with a Tech Co-founder with core competencies of modern day tech solutions, to take my idea forward.

    1. 1

Hi and welcome to the community! I'm not a programmer, but familiar with fintech and mainly in product management. Open to collabs on product pre-production validation. Let me know if you want to brainstorm together your idea and present it in a more comprehensive way to a future co-founder, CTO or development agency.

  169. 1

@rosiesherry hi first day here. Have not even been here for 10 minute and I know I am just going to love it here!
I have taken that leap into the world of small business and my mind has exploded with ideas of what to sell on line. My problem is...... how do I become popular that people โ€œclickโ€ on my posts?

    1. 1

Honestly, you don't need to be popular, the key is to focus on writing interesting things.

I recommend to perhaps get inspiration from the 'top posts' to see what kind of content resonates, then adapt your ideas or world view to write something of your own.

And update your profile to come across a bit more human. ๐Ÿ˜‡

Hello, Iโ€™m Arnie and Iโ€™m wanting to start a side project. Iโ€™m just starting to learn to code (freecodecamp.org) and really want to get ideas to move forward with. I flip cars with my spare time, learning BMW diagnostic software better currently to focus on that manufacturer. Iโ€™m good with my hands and know my way around a computer

    1. 1

Hi Arnie! Nice to have you here. Sounds like you are very handy with cars! Car owners is a huge market and car ownership has many pains and problems - a great receipe for a startup. When I was in YC online school we had an idea for Car Maintenance Records app, but decided to pursue another idea. I have a product management domain expertise and open to brainstorm your idea and help to validate it.

    2. 1

Ohhhh BMWs! Nice .... awesome choice! I wish you the best Arnie!
