Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Jul 26th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! ๐Ÿค—

Hello Iโ€™m Alex. Iโ€™m 30 y.o. I was born in Moscow, now Iโ€™m living in Switzerland. I have been making startups for more then 10 years. I sold a couple projects in travel industry and e-commerce. My co-founder/partner @double_pablo and i have been working as a web-developers and as a mobile app development agency for the last 4 years. We have successfully made 20 clients projects in 4 years.Iโ€™m an expert in UI/UX , WordPress and Flutter. I have an experience in marketing and project management.

Few month ago we have started a new project. It is a marketplace with mobile app templates https://code.market/
Before we had launch the project we have made โ€œproduct market fitโ€ research.
We have found the niche that doesnโ€™t have good projects.
If you are making mobile app from the beginning without any knowledge in development and experience it will be really hard to do. Our goal is to solve this problem for you.

I launched code.market at IH yesterday (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/code-market). I wrote milestones about our projects.

    Feel free ask me about:

    1. How to develop your startup
    2. How to start your first mobile app
    3. How to build and promote marketplaces
    1. 2

      Nice to meet you, Alex!

    2. 1

How do I develop a start up?

    3. 1

Hi Alex, this is brilliant to see. I'm feeling rather inspired reading your story. I am actually in a situation now where I am trying to develop my project but i'm not a coder and have no software development skills. I'd love to discuss this further with you to see how you may be able to help with my project.

๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm Pedro. I work as a Senior Software Engineer at Shopify. Before joining Shopify I was the CTO of the largest social fashion app in Europe and LatAm. Before joining Shopify I got interested in the idea of being a digital nomad and I traveled around the world for one year.

A few weeks ago I started exploring the idea of building a side-project related to digital nomads with a colleague of mine and I joined Indiehackers to learn about things I don't get to practise on my day to day like growth, marketing and community engagement.

    Tw: @pedrotgimenez

    1. 1

Hi Pedro, nice to meet you!
How is the digital nomad world treating you these days? I believe a lot of stuff has changed, would you care to share your experiences?

  3. 5

Hello, so excited about this...looking to learn and impact!

    Hello Everyone,

I am a comp.sci. grad, web developer and part-time farmer from Ireland, living in Victoria, Australia. Hoping to soon launch a hosting service which is open, transparent and enables people/organisations to be free and independent on the web. Hopefully the Indie Hacker community can be of some support?

In terms of goals, I reckon the following:

    1. Launch MVP by October 31st.
    2. Get some paying customers.
    3. Refine the initial offering and launch additional related services .

    Cheers,
    David

Hey everyone, I'm Andrรฉ and I've been working as a Frontend Developer for 5 years or so.
I imagine this is the story of almost everyone here but I hate to work for someone else's expectations and profit so I have decided this is a good time to start doing something for myself.
I'm all for transparent and ethical business and I wanna start a job board and a SaS mobile platform in the Tattoo world in these next months.
Really hope IH will help me to achieve that and weed out some of my fears and doubts.

    Wish you all the best,
    Andrรฉ

Hey, I'm Dawid ๐Ÿ‘‹. I run softwaretestingweekly.com โ€” a curated newsletter with the best picks on software testing. A few months ago, I quit a QA Lead position in a London start-up to start sharing my experience and hustle in software testing space.

I've heard a lot about this IndieHackers community and decided to be a part of it (thanks @rosiesherry). Can't wait to dive in! See you around ๐Ÿ™Œ

    1. 1

Hi Dawid -- looks interesting. How are you going about marketing it?

      1. 2

Thanks Abhineet. I'm trying to be active across various channels but the best results are coming from social media โ€” mostly Twitter and LinkedIn.

Our first product is going to be Zen Inbox, an inbox for all the newsletters and substacks that you subscribe to. We will be sharing our journey through my IndieHackers page hoping to get your feedback and questions.

I am excited to be part of this community and learn about the impactful products each of you is working on. Carpe Diem!

I'm Joshua. Just on a journey to find something I can sink all of my being into. Itโ€™s tough. I donโ€™t know if thereโ€™s any other 20yr old constantly as frustrated, or even on the search, as I am.

  25. 2

HI all. I'm a professional writer who fell in love with an offbeat idea--turning a narrative nonfiction serial into a Substack newsletter. @Casey_Botticello shared the idea of documenting Substack progress on Indie Hackers, so here I am! Cheers, Cynthia

    1. 1

Hey fellow Dallas maker! Excited to follow your Substack journey. Where can we access it?

      1. 2

Thanks for saying hi! I've just now set up my product here on Indie Hackers, and look forward to networking. The Constance Project is in MVP status, but would love for you to check it out at https://theconstanceproject.substack.com.

        1. 1

Perfect. Loved this "The Constance Project pieces together the puzzle of one womanโ€™s lifeโ€”and in the process, reveals at least a little of the mysterious complexity that swirls around us all, every day."

Looking forward to following the progress.

          1. 1

Thanks so much for taking the time to add this quote. I'd love to know more about the project/product you're working on!

            1. 1

My friend @bharani91 and I are building Zen Inbox, which is a a better inbox to discover, read, manage newsletters and substacks :)

People have too many newsletters saturating their inboxes, and not a great way to discover, manage, and consume them.

Zen Inbox will be an attempt to give people who love reading newsletters a better tool to do so. If you'd be interested, you can sign up to be a beta user here Cynthia https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/zen-inbox/

We are setting up our landing page soon

    2. 1

Welcome @cynthiagiles! I look forward to reading your Substack updates!

      1. 1

Thanks for the welcome! And for the inspiration to explore here on Indie Hackers. I've just set up my product and posted the first milestones on my timeline. Meanwhile, the MVP version of my pub is up and running on Substack.
So I'm excited about next steps!

  26. 2

Hi! I'm Jennifer. I'm a product designer/owner at a small mobile dev agency called LunarLincoln. We recently launched out first product/apps and I'm learning the ins and outs of everything that ISN'T just mobile development. Looking for advice on marketing, growth, and crowdfunding and excited to learn more from my fellow Indie Hackers.

Our project is called Gif TV and it's a mobile app (iOS & Android) and phone stand that Gif allows you to stream your favorite gifs and create custom channels for you and friends. https://bit.ly/Gif_TV

    TW: @rulesforbabies or @a_gif_tv

    1. 1

      Love the idea Jennifer!

      1. 1

Thanks! It's a fun one versus something a bit more practical (we're working on some practical projects too).

        1. 1

Makes sense, I'd love to learn more about the other things you end up building as well.

My friend @bharani91 and I are also starting off with a fun product, something which we both felt like we wanted: a better inbox to discover, read, manage newsletters and substacks :)

    Hi,
I am Rahul Arora, Co-founder of intervue.io. It's an easier way to take tech interviews remotely.
I am web-developer from India and carry some experience building scalable webapps while working with product based companies.
I am joining Indiehackers to get community support for the following goals:

    1. Find paid customers
    2. Be a part of a podcast with Courtland Allen ;)
    3. Explore some cool marketing/engagement ideas

At the end of the day many in the community are hustlers. Would like to get in touch with them to stay on track and make it work.

    Looking forward to rock together!

    1. 2

Intervue looks great Rahul! We should connect offline and chat sometime.

  28. 2

Hey everyone! I'm a software developer (& manager) and digital nomad. I work for a remote company but am building a web app that contains everything you need to ace the coding interview! This is my first big app so it's quite nerve-wracking, but I'm hoping that eventually it'll make me enough money to become a full-time entrepreneur.

  29. 1

I'm James. I love building webapps that look beautiful. I also love to think about how they should work, what features they should (not) have, to make them usable and growing.

Hi, my name is Violet. I live in Australia. I have a hybrid background in education and tech. I'm currently creating some online coding courses. I have ideas from time to time but never had the courage to make it really happen. Covid-19 has made me rethink what I really should do. Hello I'm Giorgio, originally from Sicily, I spent the last 5 years in the US and Asia (as a student and digital nomad).
I have a degree in Economics and an MBA.

While in the US, I co-founded a plant-based food startup.

I recently quit my job to do what I love the most, learning and writing, while looking for other opportunities.

Hello I'm Sagar and I am a devops engineer. I am 25 year old and I left my job last year in November to develop my own software. I do consulting on the side to take care of my expenses. I have been building my software since the past 7 months and I should be ready to launch in a month or two. I spent a lot of time working on it. I got a little feedback but not a lot. I am not sure whether it will work or not but I learnt a lot in this project that will help me in the future. The website of what I am building is at https://classicops.com

  37. 1

    Hey everyone!

I'm a Data Scientist from the UK and I'm just starting to work on my own products.

My current project is an email newsletter called Comedy Delivered

Like a lot of people, I've tried to cut down the amount of time I spend on social media. As a fan of stand-up comedy, I loved to find new comedians, but going on Youtube to find them often meant getting sucked in to watch videos for hours. The goal of Comedy Delivered is to send people three of the best stand-up videos each week by email, so they can see the best new comedy without losing hours in a youtube rabbit hole.

There has been good progress so far and my latest goal is to reach 1000 subscribers.

If you've worked on email newsletters or similar businesses, I'd love to hear from you, so feel free to reach out!

    Hello @rosiesherry

I started to write a Pinball emulator you can try out at https://playfield.dev/. This was also the start for my art side project at http://concealed-art.com/

    Looking for feedback!

Hi, I'm Moses, I'm 18yrs old. I am a Nigerian, and a student at Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta. I am a Mechatronics student. I've been interested in so many things especially computer aspect but the lack of good environment is really a huge mess in what one is ambitious to do. I've had a lot of ideas in startups even though am young but learning or acquiring a sound knowledge of what I intended to lay my hands upon is the barrier because here in my country, we live like days of Jesus where technology/computer will be like a myth cos no sound knowledge on what we want to achieve and no one can teach them. So I joined this platform to at least gain something that will suffice me to do what I intended to do in future.

  44. 1

    Hi IndieHackers!

I'm Dave, a product exec & advisor with over 10 years' experience building consumer products in the gaming, crypto, and social/mobile spaces. I'm not a coder but have been Director of Product at many startups and large companies, currently focused on building several news/propaganda passion products. For as happy as I have been working for other companies, at a certain point I realize I'm much happier working for myself & alongside other passionate founders looking to solve some of the world's biggest problems.

A project that I'd like to develop further here in IH is called Jaded Mandarin, a news aggregator that stacks feeds of news content from across the full spectrum of political thought, from far left to far right, broken down by current news stories. See how the "other side" thinks about the issues of the day, and learn more about opposing viewpoints outside your filter bubble, all from the highest quality news outlets and authors.

Thanks for your feedback & support!

Hello! My name is Jonathan. I am a product manager at a content entertainment company on the east coast. I'm here to learn more about how creative people approach new projects and what people are doing to improve themselves on that journey.

Hi everyone! I'm Aaron. I just turned 29 three weeks ago and I'm from Glasgow in Scotland.

I recently launched my freelance business, The Marketing Mate (www.themarketingmate.co.uk). I always struggled for a place to use my humour since giving up my career in stand-up comedy, but I've fell in love with marketing. I call my own specific brand LOUD marketing. It's about transforming emotion, and using our voice to sell benefit over features. I'm only just coming out my shell to fully use humour in what I do, but since I opened that can of worms, I've started to love it even more.

  47. 1

hello all! I have been involved in the startup space through taking on roles across project management, marketing, and product. Most recently, my partner and I started working on building a marketplace to connect gaming creators and content creators with brands to form partnerships. We are trying to remove barriers for early talent to get valuable brand partnerships and compensated fairly.

We are still working on our website: www.esportlight.com. We'll be launching the new website fairly soon!

Would love to connect with folks here and learn how you got users to test your product and your first customers!

  48. 1

Hello, I'm John. I developed a technology that allows your phone to detect laughter. I have created the social media/game app Made You Laugh to demonstrate its capabilities. Hey everyone, I'm Syed, a Blockchain and Crypto enthusiast from Bangalore, India. I'm here to introduce you to a very exciting project that we are working upon called Covx Coin - http://covid19coin.io/ where we have attempted to create a novel ecosystem of donations to help people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

So, we know what impact has the Coronavirus had on our lives, we also know how cryptocurrencies shaped a new world economy, so, why not use the power of Crypto and help the world heal from the ongoing crisis? We started Covid19 Coin as an experiment to build a self sustaining ecosystem of charitable giving, a platform that can produce monies for charity automatically.

Having followed one great project called the bombtoken, we witnessed that self destructing economy was a real thing and that we could build the whole ecosystem on a similar model. So, there is โ€˜โ€˜COVXโ€™โ€™ for the world, an ERC20 based cryptocurrency built on Ethereum. Every time someone makes a transaction with COVX, 2% equivalent of the transaction is donated to Covid19 related causes, you can read the details of the project here -> https://covid19coin.io/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Covid19-Coin-Lightpaper.pdf

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts :-)

Hi I'm Ben and I'm 28. I've been interested in startups for nearly 10 years now and have been successfully failing to get one off the ground during that time haha. I'm doing YC Startup School right now and was recommended to this community last night, so here I am this morning!

This year I started working with a friend of mine on Sidewalk.Chat which is a browser extension where you can chat with the other people who are on the same website or page as you.

Here is the link to the extension if you're interested:
    Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sidewalkchat/denbpdkchnadclbjgpdgaclebnghkfna
    Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/sidewalk-chat/

It's started to take off a little with around 1K installs and 300 WAU, so we've been working on listening to user requests, squashing bugs, and marketing it to get more users. I don't feel like we have product market fit yet, but people seem to love the idea and concept so we're continuing to iterate based on user feedback and how people are using the extension.

I'd love to learn from other founders on how to grow a community, attract more users, ways to optimize user acquisition, and any other feedback you might have on the extension or suggestions you have for us. Thanks!

Hello everyone. My name is Kayode (pronounced similarly to "Car-your-day" but which means "to bring joy") I am 34 years old and a software developer for a fintech company in Nigeria. I am experienced in C#, database design using Sql Server, MySQL and Oracle as well as in Python. Currently learning Android mobile app development in Java and Flutter.
I am here to join the community and build out my SaaS business which caters for small business operations as well as investment clubs. It's an enterprise resource planning (ERP) project.
    Goals:

    1. Register a business (Done since 2012!)
    2. Register and secure a domain (Done early this month [July 2020])
    3. Get first client to indicate interest (Done)
    4. Build out my MVP for this first client (In progress. Hopefully August 2020)
    5. Launch the version 1 of my ERP Sept 2020

I am open to feedback and I can answer questions on database design especially multi-tenant database design which is useful for SaaS projects.

Hi everyone, i'm Marija from Macedonia. I'm a software developer, experienced in frontend for web and mobile applications. A couple of years ago i switched to the business side, became a Business Analyst and worked on a couple of different projects.

A year ago i started working full time in our startup - Microtica (https://microtica.com) , a devOps automation platform that simplifies working in the cloud for developers.

We've gone live at the beginning of this year, so we are now focusing on marketing and go to market strategies, sales and so on. Our next goals are to get more paying customers and to get funding to continue our mission: Enable developers to work in the cloud!

Hello! I'm Alessio Calvo, a devoted UI Designer living in Rome, Italy.
I always designed things for customers and for the company I'm working now. Few months ago I would beat my imposter syndrome to launch my first side-project! http://artisankit.co/ โ€“ A starter kit per Figma. If you would like read, I've written a story about https://medium.com/8px-magazine/how-did-i-challenge-the-impostor-syndrome-to-design-yet-another-figma-kit-575f167b13ce

I had difficulty promoting my project, this is because I don't know much about marketing in practice. That's why I joined the Indiehacker community, I hope you can help me learn and grow my knowledges and bring my Artisan Kit to light.

Hi everyone! I'm Caleb. I'm a former startup founder, now startup employee, working on my first real indie dev project. Draft (https://www.indiehackers.com/product/draft-2) is a tool for writers (aka me) to use during the rough draft process. It facilitates getting your thoughts out without distraction or judgment. I'm using it currently to help me write my first fantasy novel (which I am publishing on my blog here: https://curiosityandconflict.com/goddess-of-stone/ and on Wattpad here: https://my.w.tt/QaFTkDLdz8).

I launched on ProductHunt a few weeks ago (crickets) and just became aware of Indie Hackers a few days ago. The price on Gumroad is $5, but if your interested you can get a free copy with the coupon code: freeforbeta.

I'm excited to be a part of the community and get to know you all more!

Hi, this is Sumant Kumar Gupta from Verisoft Technologies pvt ltd - a software development startup company in Nepal. My dream was to have something of my own hence i started this business. I have worked for around 18 months in Coda global software solutions LLC, as software developer (chennai branch). with my technical skills and business interest, i wanted to start my own technological company and hence verisoft came. its been 14 months totally, this company was about to lift up but this COVID thing came in and dragged us behind. I have started this business with very low amount of investment (nearly 1.5L NPR), till today, my total investment would be around 5-6L while i have manged to keep the flow of in and out of money in balanced state. we have mostly focused on website development and customized system development using laravel (php framework) technology. yet we have not limited our self at only these things. Being confronted with various technologies while working in Coda, I initially thought that we can adapt those and build something better here. But due to lack of investment and adaptation of those cool new tech being expensive for Nepali market, we had to work on the general techs and survive. we are still looking to work on good idea if anyone has, and representing a company, i am open to consider a talk with clients, developers, business owners for different partnerships, and more. i am open to all possible good things that can benefit people, us, and the environment as well. interested can have a look to our website, https://www.verisoft.com.np

    thanks for reading.

Hi! By day I'm a SoftwareDev & PO, by night I'm a father of 2 small kids. Somehow I make time for a side-project that I keep forgetting about:
I want a more concise way for myself to share and explore topics I care about with my friends. I also want to attract new people who might also be actively interested in these topics. I'm using the concept of a Zettelkasten as inspiration. My goals for 2020 are:

    • Focus and finish development of an MVP
    • start using this format with my friends
    • make a new friend who wants to explore a topic together using the MVP
I'm curious about everyone else's projects and what milestones they are aiming for.

Hello, I'm Gerold. A few years ago I started to run a market place for wood pellets (renewable energy for heating) in Austria, Europe. As the number of subscribers was growing it became necessary to filter "unwanted" users. I found out that there are quite some weird email addresses with names such as mailinator.com. This was the moment I found out that there are dozends, hundreds, even thousands of such domains used to overcome double-opt-in procedures (disposable email domains, dea). This was really harming my business and I tried to figure out how to identify them. All existing blacklists I found were outdated, incomplete and sometimes full of false-positives. So I decided to run my own "dea recognition" service. Just a few months later I opened it to the public and provided an API. It's still there and considered as one of the most complete and accurate services of this purpose. Currently more than 100k dea domains blacklisted - and it is growing quickly. Check it out at www.block-disposable-email.com

Hi, I'm Alex. I'm a software developer living/working in the Boston area. I'm working on an open source project that I'd like to eventually monetize in some way. My main interest in joining indiehackers is learning more about how to start down this path, ideally from others who have already done it. :)

  78. 1

Hi there, I'm David, 32, from Seattle and am a technology director in Boston.

I've started various small projects in the past, mostly following advice from a combination of business and self-help books, but I've found that no matter how much you read, actual execution is an entirely different animal.

Currently, I'm looking to continue trying new projects, Ideally landing on one that has the potential to grow, that I can put passion into when I'm enthused, but can also step away from time to time when I get worn out (Not to project previous project's shortcomings!).

Meanwhile, I realized I can't see myself long term working in a MERN full stack job but the burning passion in the gut to build awesome products that helps people or people would love to use, I have realized I can see myself as being an India Hacker. Currently working in a 9-5 job as well as put weekends and extra few hours building my ideas (I keep noting down ideas in my evernote app no matter how absurd and inspired from my own pain), launch them and move fast until my products will start payoff my bills, help me glide freely like my thoughts; anywhere anytime, free me up from the working in a time-bound job and makes me focus on creating more and more amazing products for others to use and give back to the world.

i'm Diego. currently a brand designer at collins new york. to supplement my income, i intend to consistently *$1,000+ per month freelancing outside of work.

goal: earn 2 clients per month at $500 per project.

offering: i will deliver brand identity in sprints for small companies, startups, or other people's side projects who need a brand identity quickly.

system: earning my first paying customers will be difficult. through a small personal network, I may be able to land some work, and networking online may help.

in addition, my offering should be clear as day to anyone who visits my site and portfolio. if it isn't clear and simple, they will go and find a cheaper (albeit much worse) designer.

    Hello everyone,

I'm Jackson & I work as a Engineering Team Lead at a Fintech startup, mainly coding in Ruby on Rails. Last year in my spare time I started exploring NodeJS by building a web app that would allow agile teams to run sprint retrospectives online. This year when the Coronavirus pandemic started I realised that this tool would be much relevant and released an MVP in March.

The sprint retrospective tool I built is publicly available online for free at https://www.myko.io and its goal is to make running online & collaborative sprint retrospectives easy & fun.

My personal longer team goal is to eventually monetise by releasing premium features on a subscription model.

    Cheers,
    Jackson

        Thanks @abhineetsays!

I like your idea for Zen Inbox and a clean inbox in general. What are your thoughts on hey.com and their approach to email?

        1. 1

I happened to check the product out only through their landing page -- loved the feed feature for showcasing emails.

I know that many around us are excited about Hey, some tried, but didn't find it worthwhile to pay up for a new email address or change their existing email behaviour. Some are persisting. We'll see how it goes. Those guys are really good at copywriting and story-telling, that's for sure.

Personally, I feel that a premium email address and a new redesigned email client isn't for everyone

          1. 1

I agree - I can see the value in hey and how they've got a fresh take on email to make it a much smoother workflow. But at the same time I can't justify the $99/year for it as a service.

@abhineetsays - We're in Philadelphia and accepting new members within a 20-mile radius. We'll be expanding coverage to Central NJ soon. Crazy COVID has really messed up the car sales market so we have a growing waitlist of interested drivers but not enough cars.

        1. 1

I see -- I am sure you have checked out Fair which does pretty well in this domain. Any thoughts on their product? They seemed to have hit a roadblock recently

          1. 1

yea Fair and a lot of other startups are struggling with making car subscriptions work.

Shifft is focused on the higher end of the market (BMWs and Audis - not lambos) whereas Fair's cars are the mainstream ones (mostly Fords)

Fairโ€™s model was similar to โ€œlong term car rentalโ€ and used the existing car dealer infrastructure that has built up in the US over the decades. Shifft is closer to โ€œflexible luxury-car-leasingโ€ and uses a different approach than the legacy (100+ years old) auto sales industry.

Lot of other essentials characteristics that make Shifft uniquely different - Now Iโ€™m tempted to pull up the pitch deck and dive into it but Iโ€™ll restrain here.

    Hi everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ
Iโ€™m a recent PhD graduate. I was working on materials for renewable energy conversion and storage. Recently I quit academia to explore the entrepreneurial space- something I always wanted to do and was given a push by the pandemic and ensuing lockdown.
Iโ€™m here to learn from the community about how to build a business online, how to blog and grow a dedicated user base and just to network with like minded folks!

this sounds interesting. i've always been frustrated that i have video clips or streams that i'd love to share, but the time it takes to go through the process in final cut or imovie or adobe premiere feels so long. i've always just wanted to slice + connect clips and call it a day.

look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Hi. I'm looking for people to collaborate with on my project concept that I've begun developing. I have marketing experience and business experience and some development in swift experience but I'm not an expert. I need experts to join me and take it the last mile to a finished product. Swift, Firebase, Firestore understanding of chat apps and GLLocation needed.

I'm an entrepreneur with a large amount of websites to maintain, also serve a few local clients with large market share in their area. Like to discover new ways to code more efficiently, front end design is an ongoing learning process towards perfection and writing content is part of my daily seo routine. I'm most of the day a seo marketer.

    Hi, I'm Robert.
I have a handful of infant companies in a few different industries and my primary goal on indiehackers is to be part of a community -- connecting and making friends.
The life of a solo entrepreneur has been lonely, so I want to build my social skills with like-minded weirdos.

Hey folks, I'm Grant. I'm a senior frontend developer at an enterprise company looking to get more creative and productive with my free time.

I've always had side projects, but I rarely seem to produce something worthwhile. As I consider a career goal of starting a digital product studio, I want to be more intentional about working toward that.

I've created the first thing I'm fairly proud of - https://foodlist.grantforrest.dev . It's a smart shopping list I use to make weekly groceries a bit simpler. I'm looking to do more stuff like this - useful and small projects that are free to maintain, so I can get experience with polishing and promoting a final product instead of always just starting things, y'know?

I'm Maleek. A Software Developer with focus on frontend technologies. I have worked with tons of startups and companies building their User Interface. It can be so exhausting to spend weeks designing and developing landing pages. I tried almost all the website builders but most require me to either use a template or start from scratch and have issues with SEO and accessibility. So i decided to build my own no-code, no drag-and-drop website builder which uses component based approach to quickly build websites that takes weeks to build. Looking forward learning about marketing, growth and all sort of cool stuffs. Cant wait guys!!!

Hello Indie Hackers :) I am Yunus and I am an entrepreneur and software developer.

It was exactly 3 weeks since we launched a new Saas project with my teammates. Our project is called Screpy. Screpy is an AI-based tool that makes your website analysis and monitoring. Our site is completely ready for use and now we think about how we can get more organic users. Then I just discovered Indie hackers. And I'm here right now and I'm writing this comment :)

We think that we have not yet fully reached our target audience. It would be great if you help me on this topic :)

Hello! Keen to learn tricks with no Code technique :)

  163. 1

Hi! My name is Chase. I am someone who enjoys entertaining lots of ideas and then trying to get others to help me make them a reality. Of course I have to first narrow that idea down first. I hope this site can help me accomplish both.

I have some college experience with coding and data organization. I am currently on Codecademy trying to obtain the foundational skills that I need before I can start to make apps for Magic Leap/AR. I also have several textbooks to help me, but I have been finding it hard to stay on track and balance the work load of making things and learning things. Hopefully this site can help with that too.

Thanks for providing this opportunity to all of us. I am eager to get a better feel for this site and try to figure out how I can best form a mutually beneficial relationship with it and the other users.

    Hello Everyone,

I'm a digital marketer who is interested in learning and growing.

  166. 1

    Greetings, my friends.

I have recently left my job as a technical product manager and web developer, and am striking out on my own to prove that I can create value for others outside of trading my time via salary bondage. I am attracted to financial independence, early "retirement", generosity, frugality, self-sufficiency, staying small, and finding ways to create value for others from a place of pure, genuine self.

Ready to get my face smashed in. Time to learn to crawl all over again. Let's do this!

  167. 1

Hi everyone! I'm Daniel, I'm a graphic designer and web developer as many of you. I'm studying programming and I'm in the middle of my internship.
I hope that joining this community, will motivate me to start a side business!

  168. 1

Hey there! I'm Debarshi- I've been a freelancer for a bit over a year and previously worked at Gigster, a freelance platform for software development. After realizing that my finances got extremely complicated when I started freelancing myself, I started working on a product to help independent creators and builders get a better handle on their finances.

This year, I'm hoping to really nail the initial product I'm working on and get my first set of customers.

  169. 1

How far, I'm Ud. A cybersecurity specialist with a flare for business to oppose my introversial habits. I'm simply looking to explore, watch, learn and maybe these experiences would help me grow my startup (www.loystar.co) or help me create a successful immigration startup.

  170. 1

Hey, I'm Adam! I'm a two-time co-founder seeking full-time employment, but I've recently gotten a ton of clarity on what I REALLY want to do. I love the startup process, going to events, and seeing great ideas get funding and grow. I want to be involved in ALL of them, but I know I can't. What I CAN do eventually is be a mentor, work with an accelerator program, and join a board where I can have an impact on many more than I do now.

    My current goals:

    1. Step back and start from scratch: figure out what the potential customer really wants and needs
    2. Keep working on building a community through social media and discord
    3. On a personal note, apply to be a mentor with Techstars and other accelerator/startup-supporting programs.

Anyone here work with an accelerator, incubator, VC, or something else that might be relevant?

Look forward to interacting with the community no matter what comes of it.

I hope I can learn from other people's experiences as well as share my own. :)

Hi all, I'm Nicolas. I've been spent my career as a software engineer and entrepreneur generally building everyone else's dreams (sound familiar?) And over a year ago I jumped in the entrepreneur pool to create a email marketing platform with another colleague. We wanted to create a design-and-data-first platform that was really easy to use and at flat rate price that anyone can afford (hint, it's $35 a month.)

We're now finally coming out of our shell a bit after getting our first cohort of 100 companies on SendSquared.com and we're looking for more users, more honest feedback and of course trying to get the word out on what we feel is the best priced most advanced email marketing solution.

    Cheers,
    Nicolas

I joined Indiehackers, because Iโ€™ve always wanted to start something myself (as a side hustle or as something that gives me the opportunity to work remotely). And Iโ€™ve also always felt that I need to become a better coder. I hope that this community will help me to focus on both.

If you have any questions regarding growth, just send me a message - if I think I can help, Iโ€™ll try to do it ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey there,

My name is Akshay Potdar and I'm a digital marketing and brand management professional who is in the process of introducing a digital product for CEO's and Founders who want to position themselves as thought leaders on an online spectrum.
I have realized this need in the market through multiple conversations with senior-level management professionals and founders in various sectors and we realized that a niche product can be created to fulfill this need. A product which is impact-driven, influence based and scalable as a business.

My goal is to document this journey with the Indie Hackers community to get some viable inputs from the community of creators and get some insight into how to grow this business in the long run. Looking forward to a positive entrepreneurial journey with this community.

Work as an electrical engineer during the day. Doing a little side project for teachers, heavily inspired by Patrick Mckenzie's Bingo Card Creator project.

Joined IH to see about getting some advice on finding some early customers, and finding some teachers to get feedback from on my prototype. (Having trouble finding people on Reddit and forums, my posts asking for feedback are taken down as spam!)

Hey! Have you tried facebook groups? Otherwise I would just find someone who has a kid and go with them after school, and ask a few teachers if they could give you some feedback :)

I haven't tried FB groups. I'm not on FB any more, but that's a good idea.

I'm considering doing a bit more work on tapping my fiancรฉ's professional network. She's a private school teacher, and the product is a pretty niche one to help private/charter school teachers write narrative report card comments more easily.

    Hello! I'm Adrian. ๐Ÿ‘‹

Currently I am working part-time as a Data Scientist in Austria.

I am very interested in building AI Tools in Graphic Design. Together with a friend, we have started building a AI Assistant for Vector Illustrations. We are still exploring what tools can be made with our outgoing research.

We hope to release a commercial MVP at the end of October.

    Hi,
I'am Vlad and live in Netherlands. Development & IT is my passion already for while. Most of my free time I spend on building some kind of software project.
This time I am working on we-reuse.nl ( https://we-reuse.nl ) , a developer tool that makes it quick to search and re-use command-line commands.

So, my goals for 2020 for this project are :

    1. 26.08 launch the MVP version, which will be ready to use by devs on a daily basis
    2. By the end of September first paying customers, which gonna use collection functionality
    3. Keep high user retention & motivate them to add their own commands on the platform

Let me know if you have suggestions, interested in partnership, need advice or just wanna chat :)
