Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Jun 14th)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! ๐Ÿ‘‹

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! ๐Ÿค—

Hi, I'm new to Indie Hackers but not new to shipping side projects. Over the past decade I've launched a handful of projects, some profitable and others not. I'm a product developer first, but am hoping I can use this community to learn how to grow my projects more successfully going forward.

My most recent project, www.friendsavvy.com is launching this week. Its a tool to help you stay connected with your friends more easily. If you have any feedback, send it my way!

    See you all around.

    Chris

    1. 3

Hey Chris, cool concept. I am signing up and you have my undivided support - would love your feedback on my MVP (launching in July or August). :)

      1. 1

i love this community already and i haven't finished signing up๐Ÿค

    2. 3

Hey this looks really cool, just signed up, excited to try it out!

      1. 1

Thanks for the support! Feel free to reach out if you have any feedback (good or bad).

        1. 2

Btw, love the logo! The way the letter S lies on its side then the dots above it make it look like the heads of people is pure genius! Did you do the logo yourself?

          1. 2

Definitely not me, I don't have that sort of talent. I actually paid for it on Fiverr.

        2. 1

Just noticed this: your name is Chris and one of the testimonials on the page quotes someone called Chris...which makes it look like your quoting yourself :-)

Maybe use another generic common name like Tom or Larry...or Eric :-)

    3. 2

I am gonna sign up, amazing idea.

    4. 2

I really like this idea! Signing up now :D

    5. 2

Hey Chris, one little tip you can try is adding a short sentence next to your link that says what your project does so someone can get excited and click the link to see more!

On the site you have the words "Be a better friend"...if you make it your mission to include those words everywhere you post the link to your site I think it might help grow at least awareness if not the number of visitors!

I need to be a better friend to someone, so I am off to check out the site (I like how it used guilt to lure us in :-)

      1. 2

        Thanks for all the comments!

  2. 3

Hi,Iโ€™m a photographer from Uganda ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฌ where I live and work
Iโ€™m new to Indie Hackers. Iโ€™m here to learn from all the amazing people here and hopefully learn more about building an online community of learning and networking for upcoming and professional creative entrepreneurs in my country and the region

    www.gatimophotography.com

    1. 2

      Hey fellow East African :-)

I am from Tanzania and working on app that I believe will make life much better for photographers like you. It's still very early stage (no live demo yet) but hopefully it will grow with the input of all the awesome people in this community :-)

      Let's keep the conversation going!

      1. 2

That sounds awesome. I'm happy to offer any imput you might require.

        1. 1

Hi Ruth/Timothy, many thanks in advance for offering to give me input! What is the best way to contact you with the questions I have about the challenges you face as photographers? Can I use the email address on your website?

  3. 3

Hey everyone! My name is Alex and I'm a professional nerd based in Denver, CO, USA.

I've been a full-stack web developer for over a decade now, but also love all things literature, philosophy, music, travel, outdoors, etc.

My current project is Connect With Strangers (https://withstrangers.io), a platform dedicated to connecting people with similar interests but differing backgrounds and beliefs to help bridge many of the religious/cultural divides seen across the world.

I'm also working to SaaSify one of the tools I built to help myself with usability testing, called YOUsability (https://yousability.dev).

I'd love to connect with people who also have a passion for building community across differences, either as a partner in growing the WithStrangers platform or simply to connect and chat about whatever excites you.

  4. 3

Hello world! Nice to be here :)
I've recently accepted what my career counselor recommended to me a decade ago. She said I'll do well in roles with minimal interactions with co-workers. Nothing against people, I'm a fairly extroverted, social guy. But I'm least effective while WORKING with other people.

Over the past 5 years I've tried to get better at this, fight it, and "improve". But after being fired for the 6th time, I've come to accept my path to solo entrepreneurship. It's immensely liberating! Daunting, but super-empowering.

I've built an e-commerce business selling t-shirts and other products on Amazon, TeeSpring, and soon my own Shopify store in the US, UK, Germany, and India. I have thousands of happy customers, but it's a very competitive landscape. My average profit is $ 125 / month. I've done this while performing (rather poorly) at my day jobs.

This year, my goal is to grow this business to $ 10,000 / month.

Thanks for reading my story. Read more of my thoughts here : https://imash.win/

    1. 1

I really like how honest you are...being fired 6 times can't be fun or easy to admit to but it's exactly this kind of openness that I came looking for here!

I did my 12 year entrepreneurial journey mostly solo. Like you, I have nothing against people, but when working (writing code to be specific) I desire maximum solitude so I can THINK. Silence is golden when you're conjuring up world domination strategies and while it can get lonely at times it's better than the alternative :-)

  5. 3

Hello everyone, my name is Adi from Bali, Indonesia. I'm full stack developer and have been in the industry since early 2000. In the past I co-founded small web hosting services, digital agency and online hotel booking. Right now I've just start developing https://inacode.id it's basically learning resources similar to freecodecamp but for Indonesian since languages still major barrier here.

Love to be in this global community!

  6. 3

Hi Rosie, excited to join this amazing community! I'm German but lived in London and Los Angeles for the past 4 years. My background is in urban planning and smart cities but I recently learned to code. Now I'm trying to launch my first project. As a young founder I'm grateful to have found this community of doers and look forward to learning from all of you!

  7. 3

Hello indie hackers! I'm a software engineer by trade, but it is also what I love to do. One of the goals I set myself for this year is to figure out how to make money outside a 9-5 job.

I'm inexperienced in this space, and the thought of trying to build something from nothing is daunting. Hopefully I can learn from the community and come up with some ideas!

    1. 2

      Greetings fellow software engineer :-)

Trying to make money outside the 9-5 grind will give you a nee found appreciation for that steady 9-5 salary... it's tough out there...which is also why it's fun :-)

My brother and I had a chat the other day when reviewing my 12 year startup journey and he said the most hilarious thing to me: THE BEST TIME TO FAIL IS 10YRS AGO!

That's another way of saying FAIL FAST. Try building something and get it in front of users as quickly as possible. If it sucks they will tell you quickly, if it has promise they will tell you that too (not verbally but by USING it). Then just rinse and repeat :-)

(Please don't quit your job yet...like I said: that steady salary from the 9-5 is a lifeline, you will need it to survive the perils of side gigs).

  8. 3

Sup Rosie! Good to be here. I'm an SF native running my late father's small software company FxSound. Hoping to learn and grow with the community, and maybe make a couple friends in the process!

    1. 2

Hello fellow software engineer! I admire your spirit of taking over the reins from your late father (God rest his soul), it's very rare to hear about multi-generational software companies!

What cool stuff do y'all do at FxSound? I am an audiophile, my own dad paid for my software engineering education by selling music, my brother in SF is a music producer and my next app has support for audio features...so I am sure we have much to talk about :-)

      1. 2

Hey Eric! We make post-processing software for PCs to boost sound quality, volume and bass (also has an EQ and some basic effects). Let's connect! Would love to hear more about what you're working on and wouldn't mind getting a link to your bro's stuff ;)

        1. 2

Hello James! So I got in touch with my bro to ask him if he has an online presence with his work, he is yet to get back to me, but I did find some stuff on Soundcloud here: https://soundcloud.com/frankboimusic

I also got a chance to visit www.fxsound.com and I gotta say: the bluish astronaut theme is pretty damn cool! Would love to know how you manage to develop the website AND the app: do you do both yourself or split the work? Maybe you can write a post on it so we don't have to keep swimming in this loooooong comment thread :-)

          1. 2

Sweet! Thanks man. I think I will write something up to save us both some time :D

            1. 1

              Looking forward to the post!

PS: I downloaded the app and the effect on my sound is very noticeable...the Power button that allows you to turn off the effects is a nice touch and makes it dead easy to see the difference!

              1. 2

Dope! Glad you liked it :D

  9. 2

Hey Indie Hackers! New here, love this concept & thinking if I only joined sooner! :D I'm Head of Marketing/ Co-Founder at www.Firewards.com , an awesome email referral program to build your email list. I'm a Marketing & Search Engine Expert, I hope to launch a marketing / Search Engine Marketing digital course this year. you can find me on IG @celi_marketing,hopefully I can help add some value to you all!

  10. 2

Hey everyone, especially @chrisc0015 who's right bellow me in the form as I type this. I'm Josh from Scotland currently studying at university. I've been experimenting with the sales of textbooks to students with varying success. I've lost a bit of motivation but I'm putting it out into the world that I will have an MVP ready by the end of the month. It will at the very least allow fellow students to coordinate buying textbooks together in bulk to reduce the cost to us all. I'd love to speak to you guys, drop me a line can be business or just to say hi. Both would be ace!

  11. 2

    Hi Indie Hackers ๐Ÿ‘‹.

I'm a software engineer with a decade of experience working for VC funded startups like Dropbox. I've realized that the VC game isn't for me, and I'd like to build a profitable and sustainable business, but I have a lot to learn!

I'm working on https://standardresume.co with my two cofounders, who are both designers. We have a lot to learn around marketing, sales, press, running a business, etc. I'm hoping the Indie Hackers community can help with this.

Feel free to message me with any web development questions or recommendations, and I'll do my best to help out!

  12. 2

    Hi everybody :)

My name is Philip and I have a background in economics and finance, but worked in financial audit, bank advisory and built the business development department of a big4 company for 5 years before having too many business ideas that I really wanted to build.

After a rather strong focus on traditional corporates, where I was allowed to learn so much about how large companies make decisions from a financial, financial risk, investment and a procurement perspective, I am working with https://stormkit.io wo support their business development by clarifying the product, communication and the target market. Additionally, I am working on sparkner.ch with a business partner.

Ask me anything about financials, investing and business development and I love to learn from entrepreneurs and specialists to further enhance and improve my understanding of business and system dynamics, web development, new technologies, network effects and your experiences along your way.

Please ping me to talk about ideas on how to improve the world. I am grateful to be part of the community. Regards, Philip

I have been a software engineer for around 9 years.

I have founded an indie game studio called 'Studio Trapcard' and here is my recent work as an indie game developer.

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/636950/MarksmanVR/

then I have joined the company helping other's work for two years.

Recently, I have decided to quit a job to struggle my way to become an indie hacker.
Currently, I am learning from other businesses. hopefully, be able to launch MVP for my services on the web by the end of this year. (whatever it is)

I am glad to join this community!

  23. 2

    Hey there,

I'm Thijs. I live near Amsterdam, NL with my family.

Along with a friend of mine, I am excited to work on my first project.
Neither of us codes, and neither of us have any experience owning a company, but we're passionate about our ideas and vision.

We're looking to learn a lot along the way.

    1. 2

Passion is the key my friend! I know how to code and I have owned a company but none of that helps at 3am when it looks like your entire world is falling apart. Passion is what keeps you going until you figure out how to conquer the world!

Start yesterday - the world awaits your creations ๐Ÿ’ช

  24. 2

Hi all, Iโ€™m Rob and I am based in Manchester, UK. I am a marketer and have worked mainly within b2b services, healthcare and education.

I have joined because I am looking to gain the confidence and ideas needed to set out on my own. The past few months have made me realise the potential of running my own business. I am working full time and gaining new skills but think I am limiting myself as a full time employee.

I have an MBA and am experienced in both the creative and technical side of marketing/business strategy. I can code in python, sql, JavaScript, DAX and am an accomplished copywriter and content marketer. I just donโ€™t know how and where I can use these skills best as a business owner yet so am looking to learn as much as I can

    1. 1

Hey Rob, that's quite a skill set you have there and it will be quite handy when you become Chief Everything Officer (CEO) in your own business (you will wear many many hats!)

Education and healthcare tend to be big, important and thoroughly broken systems so maybe you can apply your ninja skills to those areas :-)

I myself was educated in computer science at Solihull College, Birmingham and as an international student I do remember facing the challenge of making a decent income given the limited working hours that student visas allow. If you can solve that problem (legally) you will change the lives of many students :-)

      1. 1

Hi Eric, nice to meet you!

Itโ€™s definitely an interesting pain point to address and I can see it being driven by two factors that could create or dismantle a competitive advantage.

One would be the impact of regulation. What happens when visa laws and governments change? The other is remote work and whether that will increase or reduce the ability to get paid decent money for high level work like programming. Upwork increases the number of jobs available but also increases the level of competition (reducing pay alongside it)

Itโ€™s definitely one worth thinking about!

        1. 1

I look forward to hearing about what you eventually cook up...and be warned in advance that you will go through many many many different ideas before finding The One Idea To Rule Them All. Enjoy the journey (even though it will feel schizophrenic at times :-)

  25. 2

    Hey,
I'm Hakan. I'm a computer engineer and working as a penetration tester now. I'm interested in entrepreneurship, cognitive science, computer science and productivity things :) I'm trying to do some stuff which is beneficial for others. I love learning.
Happy to be around here :)

  26. 2

    Hey what's up Indie Hackers!
I'm Daisy, glad to find and join this great community, and I just started creating an online shop for my offline business, due to covid-19, trying hard on marketing and growth.

Any feedback or suggestions would be highly appreciated!

  27. 2

Hello everyone! I am Anton, I work and live in Lviv, Ukraine. I work as a Lead iOS Developer in an outsourcing company. Thinking about starting a side project to educate myself and try to have some side passive income. I have some thoughts on how to start and already developing my first prototype so Indie Hackers looks like something ideal for my current situation. Really glad to be around here :)

  28. 2

Hi Rosie, I've been following IH for a few months finally decided to sign up. I'm here to make some friends and soak up some knowledge. I've worked on a few side projects based on common problems. I have some knowledge on launching business but my issue is building a team around myself and the mvp to help cross the finish line. I hope to one day get pass that hurtle.

    1. 1

Don't worry about the team until you have an MVP...start with that so you can have something to all rally around. People are expensive to acquire and retain so unless you are a secret billionaire, you will want to build an mvp and share that with however will listen...then as the idea takes shape you will know what team to build based on the problems to be solved!

      Best of luck ๐Ÿ’ช

I've been working as a freelance web developer and designer for the past couple of years, taking time off school occasionally to focus on that, but I'm looking to move past selling my time/labor and build something that I can sell repeatably.

Can't wait to learn from all of you!

  40. 1

I've seen this website for years. Glad to be apart of the Indie Hackers community.

  41. 1

I am Italian, but lived and worked in Hungary, Australia, UK and Germany, and have moved to back to Milan quite recently. I am a management consultant specialised in travel and aviation. I have always worked for large corporations, but I feel like it's time to start something on my own, maybe totally different from what I am doing now...who knows? I hope to find some inspiration here :)

Hi, Daman here from Gurgaon, India. Looking to pair up with folks who have interesting projects targetting the India audience. I've grown multiple apps to 30+ million users in the country and am looking to help out with my growth ideas and community. Used to be the CMO at multiple startups looking after growth and marketing. I blog at www.damansoni.com.

Hope to contribute and make new friends in the coming days.

  52. 1

Hi, I have been on Indie Hackers for around 3 months now but have been quite silent as I haven't felt ready/worthy to actually call myself an Indie Hacker.

Recently I realised that there are a small number of people actually using and getting value from my site. It is still in the MVP stage so a bit rough around the edges but it's a start.

My site is www.chiaexplorer.com - it is a blockchain explorer for a cryptocurrency called Chia that is currently in testnet phase. Once Chia goes live I believe will rapidly become one of the dominant cryptocurrencies.

I really need to improve the site design and add better search and export functionality, the current users are struggling to get the data that they want out of it.

Hello everyone, my name is Erik. I am a computer science student from Slovakia, working part time job as a junior developer. I am currently trying to figure out what to do with my life. I enjoy making my own projects and I would like to one day make a living from it (as everyone here I guess). I joined Indie Hackers to find some motivation and to overcome and push myself to do things out of my comfort zone, such as this introduction :) .

Hello from Singapore. By all counts, a virgin with all things tech but would love to team up to build a nice elegant side business. Been on the business side of scaling startups (SaaS/Marketplace) up for 5 years now. lived and worked in 6 countries in last 7 years. Hit me up if you need help with BD side of things. P.S will be lurking around to find a cool co-founder :)

Hi I just joined Indiehackers. I am not much into indie hacking but I would love to get started and I think this is a great place to start with.

  56. 1

Hi there, very new to Indie Hackers - but this place sounds like a dream. I've been a developer for a few years and always enjoyed working on side projects. It helps me keep my sanity and it's my favorite way of having fun. :)

Last week I opened the alpha for a project I've been working on for the past few month, https://midnight.pub It's a platform for interconnected writing/blogging/journaling. It makes heavy use of backlinks to link pages together. I'd absolutely love to get any feedback, it's very early stage and a little niche as well.

    Let's connect :)

    Hi,
I am a final year undergraduate from India. I am beginning a cool project and here to get ideas and feedback on the same.

Hi, I'm new to Indie Hackers and new to creating businesses. Over the past two years, I have been inconsistently reasearching Shopify dropshipping as a way to make money and I am hoping to start a shop soon. I am also looking for other potentially startup ideas that can be done passively or something with a large potential for growth that requires some dedication.

I am looking to also support affordable sustainable fashion brands so if anyone has one I would be down to support. I am also willing to work with people on potentially partnership opportunities.

I also want to learn as many skills as possible and make good networking connections to help me in future businesses.

Feel free to contact me with any startup ideas you think I could pursue with minimal funding.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and God bless.

Hi Rosie, first of all Iโ€™m huge fan from indie hackers for about 3 years or so during that time I listened the podcast on Spotify and the forum was so much different! My path has always been toward design and selling! But right now I need to level up my skills and create something usefull for the people and the community. Thanks a lot for be here and I really appreciate all the work the 3 of you do for us! Cheers from Orizaba, Ver. Mx

Hi. I'm new to Indie Hackers and as a citizen of a developing country, I have always desired to build products but due to one reason or the other, that has been a challenge.

I am recently working on a food-ordering multi-vendor site bringing food vendors with different culinary skills and interested customers together.

I'll really like your feedback and constructive criticism as this is my first project.
I believe I'll be able to harness the infinite mass of experience and wisdom available in this community in developing myself and obviously my environ.

Hey Rosie! Thanks for the hello and welcome! I'm Buddy, an entrepreneur and strategist from Seattle! I used to be in the startup game full time, but now I work for a march firm, and execute side projects with my best friend! We are a design duo, and currently working on a project to create a tool for designers to find the best toolsets for their projects. Looking forward to being part of IH!

Hey, my name is Eugene. I'm from Latvia, Riga. I have 10 years experience working as UI designer. Last year after a long time of unsuccessful seek for partner who is good at coding and interested in building cool stuff I decided that I could learn to code myself. After a year of learning I feel pretty confident working with node.js stack, google cloud and vue.js. I'm new to Indie Hacker, but after reading a bit about what it is I think I might like here.
Currently I'm working on app called https://wanderscanner.com Idea is to showcase most amazing places in the world, and get instant trip cost estimates based on your location, flight quote and accommodation prices. Imagine as if you are browsing the Lonely Planetโ€™s book "100 places to visit", and for each destination you would instantly get the best date to visit and how much it would cost without manually googling flight and accommodation prices.
Right now I don't have any presence on the internet and I don't know how to get a good traffic to the page. I guess I'm not lonely with this problem here. I hope that I will find some ideas and suggestions how to move forward with my app.

Hey! I'm Josรญas. I love marketing, products, people, technology and on/off businesses. I've worked on a few projects and two startups.

The most recent one is Pirsonal (https://pirsonal.com). The thought behind Pirsonal is that marketing audiences are saturated, so we built a platform that helps any business to use personalization, marketing automation, and multimedia content to engage with each individual on a one-to-one basis so that brands can increase sales and engagement.

Pirsonal is a flexible, scalable, and ROI-effective personalized video marketing platform. Until not that long ago, we were pretty much focused on a service and now we are finally offering a self-service, saas platform for marketers, creative teams and developers.

Glad to be here and happy to help if I can.

    Hey y'all!
Im from Canada! Love hokey, pizza, soccer and buy/sell domain names. Im an industrial engineer with experience in different fields. I've always wanted to do a side project to earn extra income but the 9-5 job has held me back from doing it. I have indeed started a project and have completed it. There is an MVP ready for sale and I need someone to help me with Marketing and sales. A co-founder who is familiar with Mobile technology, Real estate, and has good experience in marketing and sales.

I'm an embedded systems programmer who just wrote my first Mac app.

My app lets you use your mac keyboard and mouse as a bluetooth keyboard and mouse to control another phone, ipad, TV, apple tv, rasberry pi, mostly anything that can connect to a bluetooth keyboard.

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/keypad-bluetooth-keyboard/id1491684442?mt=12

I'm trying to make this app visible. Do try it out, and let me know what I can do to make it better.

Hi, I have the inkling of an idea for an app, so I thought I'd stop by to see how other successful people went about building their communities.

Hi there. I came to Indie Hackers to get insight on how to start my own blog/business, and how to build a website from it. I also want to learn about growth hacking methods.

  73. 1

Hi everyone! I'm a junior lawyer in the tech industry, and I'm fascinated with startups/social enterprises and the concept of building something of my own. I'm so happy to have found this website - everyone's stories are so inspiring, and I hope to learn from all of the amazing things you are all doing.

I'm currently working on a project, www.lemonlawschool.com, where I have recruited other junior lawyers and some law students to provide free, detailed guides with actionable advice for law students. When I was a student, I was surprised at how difficult it was to find certain advice on unorganized forums, so I hope this site solves that problem for future students.

I hope to evolve this platform to include interviews with professionals and success stories to create a supportive community for students.

I had to learn graphic design and how to build the site from scratch, so if you have any feedback, I'd love to hear from you all!

Thanks for reading my story :)

  74. 1

Hi everyone! I'm new to Indie Hackers, super excited about my new launch: direction.com/local/ - so happy to have found this group full of like-minded people and can't wait to start learning more and connecting with awesome people!

Landed by the grace of serendity on Indie Hacker, and after 1 min I've signed up amd I'm sold.

Love the idea and the fact that it's build like a community.

A few words about myself: I've been a Product Manager for the past 12 years, mostly in ecommerce space but acted as a consultant in a few other niches.

Excited to provide any help where needed and to find inspiration for my next product.

Looking forward to chatting with you.

    Cheers :)

Hi, I am new to indie hackers and I really want to reinvent myself, find what actually makes me happy and focus on a vision for a better future

  77. 1

๐Ÿ”ฅ Hi my name is Jon. I have been programming for the last 20 years. I am well versed with web and mobile development, and anything that runs in the cloud. I also run a small shop here in the Philippines doing what I love.

The thing that I noticed after all these years is I always know how to bring my clients' ideas to life. But I never had my own idea that I could build by myself. Or more likely, I'm always doubting myself that my idea sucks and no one would probably want to use it.

I read somewhere that before writing any piece of code (which is always my tendency), I would need to validate my idea by creating a landing page and see if I have potential customers who are interested. I copied the format and built the landing page over a weekend, launched it and ran a week of Facebook ads. True enough, not a single user signed up. Ugh sucks ๐Ÿ˜ญ

This is my landing page: https://formkit.plus/

So here I am in Indie Hackers, trying to learn and getting inspired. I only got the courage to join and write my intro here because this seems like a friendly place for beginner hacker like me. :)

Hope to learn a lot from you peeps.

    ๐Ÿค˜Jon

Hello, I've lurked around IH for a while, but recently decided to dive in deeper. I'm an artist/designer for games. As my art has been progressing, I wanted to get inspiration from other projects to see how I can grow my projects.

Here's my IG https://www.instagram.com/jamkooart/ I'm on other socials as well, but this is my primary. Always looking to make new friends in mobile/games or just art.

    Thanks!

    Hi All.

    Totally new here.

I started learning coding on the side with the lockdown and finished the MVP of a little project I wanted to do for years (as a hardcore gamer).
The idea is to help people find other gamers to play with or socialise with by game, platform, language etc:
    https://www.gamingvox.io/

Let me know if you have any feedback and / or any idea to promote the website!

    Best

Hi there!๐Ÿ‘‹ I'm Yin Lin, a freelance writer from Singapore.

I'm on Indie Hackers to track progress on my newsletter, http://134wpm.substack.com, which covers culture, current affairs, and cool stuff.

The core of this side project is to share more about the world. Hoping to meet more people through this community. :')

  84. 1

Hi, I'm new to IH. ML and math quant background. Fintech, data science, and platform focussed. Am usually working on statistical modelling and dashboarding/analytics side projects. Currently kicking along some vega and fastapi stuff very slowly in the background to build up a personal version of a productivity platform I used at a previous place of work.

Anyone interested in decentralized apps in the data, analytics, predictive modelling space? I think it could materially change the landscape of what is cheap to distributed data wise. No clear angle on profitability yet ... too early.

  85. 1

Hello indie hackers! I'm thrilled to join you guys.

I've been working as a growth manager and Conversion Rate Optimisation professional for 7 years in London and currently living in Berlin.

I launched https://get.numead.fr/ last year which automates forms and regulations for field engineers in the air conditioning industry in France. The business runs by itself now.

I'm looking for new teammates and a new project. I can help with quite a few things :)

I'm looking at a few subjects but still in the research phase (like insurance broker back-office automation, wines etc.) but I'm very open, I'm just a good sceptic.

I have a good network of talent that can help but I can't get across the right idea yet :)
Please reach out to me if you do, I'll be happy to connect.

    See you all around.
    Ed

Hi, I'm Fernando! I'm a Brazilian immigrant living in Portugal ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น

I'm very new to the idea of having a side project. I work 9-6 at a job I don't particularly like but it's what supports my family. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ It's an Analytics position in a company that does not believe in data insights; it only demands busywork and reports that won't ever be read. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

At nights, my wife and I are building www.pluckd.co to escape this drudgery. I taught myself how to code and she learned web design.๐Ÿคฉ

Pluckd is B2B SaaS product to fight office politics. I got tired seeing talent colleagues being left behind by promotions just because they were not in the right gossip circles. So with Pluckd we hoped to make talent bubble up from within. Our MVP, which is in closed beta, is a place for employees to rate each other's skills.

Being an immigrant, I don't have many friends outside work yet. So I would love to connect with people who share my passions and who could help me grow as a side hustler!

    1. 1

Hi Fernando, that is an interesting challenge you approach with pluckd. Politics are a nightmare and completely destroys trust within a company from my point of view. Was thinking actually about it quite a lot a short while ago and am still curious how politics and trust can be improved within a company by smart tools. Instead of rating I think more towards pushing thankfulness and appreciation (could be rating?)

In regards of your analytics position: automize the hell out of it :)

Where in Portugal do you live? Have been traveling Portugal two years ago.

      1. 1

That's certainly a feature worth pursuing! Thanks for the suggestion! We began with hard skills because there were simpler.

I live currently in the outskirts of Lisbon, in a village called Samora Correia. It's no Berlin, but it's super quiet.

  87. 1

Hi, I've been listening to the IndieHackers podcast for well over two years now and a lot of the concepts have resonated with me. I've decided last year to work on my "escape plan" from my startup job and work on my own project that is not venture backed.

I have many interests, mostly around human-computer interaction, virtual/augmented reality, and video games! Those are mostly hobbies and areas im learning about right now.

I have experience building SaaS applications and that will likely be my "safe" bet for the first project. Right now I'm working on a small idea around building essential tools for coaches (people who are paid to teach their expertise, no matter what it is). My wife is a life coach, an I'm hoping to use her as a resource for bouncing off ideas and seeing what problems there are to solve for people like her.

Excited to finally join the community and meet people!

Hi everyone! I'm a founder from Malaysia who just found out about this platform! I'm looking for a technical co-founder/CTO for my startup here. I have a technical background myself, but I'd like to focus on the business side of things and let someone else drive the technology.

I'm working on www.mercurypay.xyz - if you have any feedback or are interested to collaborate, reach out please! ๐Ÿค“

    Looking forward to great conversations!

Hello everyone, this is Kevin Mun from Malaysia. My team and I are currently working on a side project that guides people on how to cook.

Yea, it might sound like yet-another-recipe-app; But, we are confident that our app manages to climb up the rank, thanks to our unique feature. It is almost a year into development and we're fixing bugs and finalizing the UI/UX to be launch on the beta version, targeting the end of this year.

I can't wait to let everyone know about the app.

  93. 1

Hi all. Brand New to Indie Hackers. Just heard about your community and they couldn't stop saying great things about this community, so here I am to take it all in!
I have been in the health and wellness space for the past 15 years. My recent focus is on growing a Hemp extraction lab in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, NC (www.theapectrumlabs.com). And within that company, we just launched a product that is really exciting because it's the only one on the market. It's called Alt/D9 (www.altd9.com) and it's a legal euphoric shot that feels like a THC edible but it's NOT THC.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to digging in next few days, learn from the group and try to help wherever I can.

Hi, I'm a software engineer. I'm passionate about coming up with new ideas and make it a successful business. I don't have an idea yet, but if someone looking for a partner in a personal project, don't hesitate to come and say hi.

Hi all, I'm currently a brand manager for a larger consumer goods company. I'm about to attend a bootcamp in Australia to make my coding hobby a full-time gig.

I'd like to eventually start making enterprise software I can sell to massive corporations, after having an insiders look at the problems people struggle with everyday that software could easily fix.

I like to write about what I'm learning at www.peterlunch.com.

As I'm just starting out on my journey to escape the 9-5 struggle, I'm looking to connect and learn from other indie hackers who have a passion for building products that solve problems for other people. Looking forward to the ride of a life time.

    Hi Indie Hacker Friends!

My name is Ahmad. I have been a software developer for 12 years, I founded a company that grew to 40 employees in 5 years, then failed :)

I have learned a lot during my career, and I would like to share my experience with this awesome community while learning from all of you and making friends along the way. :)

I recently switched to Indie development and I have plans to teach programming on youtube.

At the moment, I'm building a new browser extension which is called "Undercover": https://goundercover.app/in

The basic idea behind the extension is to let you avoid nosy people, and screen stalkers who don't care about your privacy or to track you especially at workplaces.

See you around, and big love to all of you!
    Ahmad.

    Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹

My name is Allister, and itโ€™s great to be here! I live and breathe all things product and tech, and have been in the game for about 6 years professionally as an engineer in product-focused startup environments.

Iโ€™ve been reading up on all the great things happening around here for a while now, and felt like I should make things more official by signing up.

Iโ€™m hoping to learn a lot from the community this year, and apply it to my own aspirations of bootstrapping something from the ground up in the near future. I have a few ideas Iโ€™m keen to validate.

I look forward to getting to know you all a bit better! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  106. 1

Hey everyone! I'm an undergraduate and interested in starting a tech business but do not know coding as such though I have an idea (almost ready). Also since I have never done anything as such before, I'm very sceptical if my idea is worth, so I really really need you experienced guys out here to help me grow.
I'm here in the hope of finding a tech co-founder and get immediately started on it.
If you're interested, please reach out to me! Hope to connect with you all and know your perspectives.

    Cheers!

Hey! I'm a student and maker building Codex (https://thecodex.me/). I've recently joined Avi, the founder of Codex to help scale it. After building the platform 18 months ago, he has not made a single update until this month. Now we are getting ready to push out more content and really grow the platform with more of a focus in python + data science and with a new stream of projects ("how to build xyz"). In the last 18 months, the mrr has been growing ~12% every month despite making no updates.

I'm a complete newbie to this but would love to feedback or pointers on how to scale a subscription e-learning business. If there is any communities in this realm, please point in the right direction. Thanks!

Hi, I'm Chris and for the past 9 months I've been working on a simplified frontend web environment to help developers focus on delivering features sooner. It's an online, no setup IDE which isn't just another code editor. It lets you focus on coding UI with HTML and as you type, it generates JavaScript code and notifies what parts may need to be customised. Imagine you could add few attribute directives to your HTML and without touching JavaScript, you get a presentable reactive app! App actions are generated, and they use data you wrote in the HTML. E.g. what you have in your "LI" tags is used to produce an action which returns an array of objects. When you're done with coding, you can download a stand-alone zipped code, unpack it and run "docker-compose up" to either bundle a production-ready app or continue outside our IDE. It uses Webpack, Babel and all other open source goodies. Here is our website: www.glue.codes and 9 min showcase video: https://youtu.be/mPkHyHtV7Xk . I'm here to learn how to reach the users and get any feedback and criticism.

Hi, I'm new here. For years I have been working in the world of business management and in the creation of new business models. I am looking for a place to exchange and share ideas in order to give and receive a growth contribution

Hi, my name is Tushar and I'm from New Delhi, India. I'm new to this platform, however not really new to building startups. My first startup was launched and backed by Amity Ventures, during my undergrad. After completing my graduate degree in Data Science from the US I decided to join my father's business but it isn't as fulfilling as I thought it would be, so I decided to use his resources to help me build my own ed-tech startup.

Its called Quantum Learnings Indis(www.quantumlearnings.in), basically providing online courses in data science and analytics, and also business analytics, including Microsoft Certifications and also job assistance using our proprietary tool MentorrBuddy.

So just here to network, learn, and grow in the right direction!

Hello, new member here ๐Ÿ˜€! I'm Anthony a freelance developer and occasionally side projects creator (most of time for my personal accomplishment). Since weeks, I'm currently building a free Markdown editor tool for devs: https://znote.lagrede.fr/ and my friends told me about this community. I am very excited to discover this place and how to help here.

I'm also glad to sharing my skills so feel free to message me about web development. I'll do my best to help out.

The impact of online payments is vast and most of the population of the world is shifting towards online payments. In this scenario my prepaid centres is also providing extensive discounts to the users who are shifting towards the online mode of payments and buying this card is quite easy with- https://myprepaidcenters.co/.

Hi, I'm Gaurav from New Delhi, India. Founder of an advertising agency, DesignScript(designscript.in) ***PS - we are revamping our website.

Paid advertising expert in the last 1 year I along with my team(5 people) have spent more than $1 million on Facebook & Google. And generated sales of over $4 million. We have recently started working with SAAS clients (mails.wtf) and able to get signups in less than 2.5$. Now, I want to learn more about SAAS marketing and different aspects of it.

PS - I also want to learn more SAAS, so that we could develop something valuable.

    Cheers,

    Hello there,

My name is Mohammad Khalaf I am from Palestine and I aspire to build my own design agency to give a chance to the under-represented Palestinian Designers and Developers; hopefully, I can contribute to elevating our business and tech community.

  124. 1

Hi everyone! My name is Faisal, I'm from Indonesia. In my 9 to 5, I work in an early-stage tech company in the commercial side. Being a sales/business development during this WFH moment gives me a lot more time for myself and the thought of building something that may be of use for other people (with a possibility to add to my income also) seems fun for me.

I study as an engineer in college, focusing in GIS web applications, but having no professional experience shows that I am still a rookie in this space. And hopefully I can learn from the community and come up with fresh ideas!

This is Ahmad Malik. I am an old man (55 years old) and am coming back to the software development after several years of diversion. In between I lost my health. Due to declining health and like, I lost my physical and mental faculties. After several years of research about the diet and life style, I am now a vegan and free from any medication.
Currently I am reviving my old projects that were put on hold due to I'll health. I am starting with data converters. So for example ..... PDF, CSV and database converter project and building REST API Endpoint.
I will be happy to collaborate with the like minded folks.

Hi All, I'm new here... on path to a Career change. Currently seeking to transition to React JS Web Dev, to which I've already created a few mock sites on. Hi hackers ๐Ÿ‘‹, my name is Roman and I'm new to this community. During the last ten years I've being trying to develop something useful for the world, but most of the time failed due to the over-sized ambitions and lack of experience. I've been mostly working in the Digital Marketing space during this time because I feel these skills will play the biggest role in my future projects.

Last week I launched the e-learning project, https://desentra.com which I hope will find its place in the world and help people to enter the blockchain and crypto field with less stress than it was for me. Desentra is a crypto education platform with bite-size courses (<15 min) divided into categories based on knowledge levels. I would be glad to give free access to one or two courses for valuable feedback!

Follow the link below, if you'd like to read the full story:

    Cheers,
    Roman.

Hello everyone, another newbie to Indie Hackers! I'm currently working on my project https://codepeople.io and I'm now contacting a survey as Iโ€™ve realized that developers face a lot of challenges when working on their personal side projects, so I would like to find a way to support on these and make side project work more efficient & fun!

It would mean the world to me if you could spare 7 minutes to complete our anonymous survey to help us understand how to best support you on your side projects!

Your opinion really matters to us and all devs!

    Survey link => https://codepeople.io/side-projects-survey

Those ideas from the survey left me drooling! ๐Ÿคค Hope you manage to pull them off with a business model that keeps them appetizing!

    Hey everyone

I'm Olly, I'm a developer living in Manchester, UK. Currently managing a team of devs and UX'ers in an agency.

The dream is to run a lifestyle business so I can work on what I want from wherever I want. I'm a classic procrastinator with a million business ideas but none of them ever seeing the light of day.

I'm posting here so I'm actually accountable so hopefully I take action. Excited to be joining the community, can't wait to see where this takes me!

Hello everyone! I'm new to Indie Hackers, but very keen to get involved in such a flourishing community. I am a product person working in the music industry, my area is mobile applications, I enjoy and embrace all the technical challenges and satisfactions that come with native engineering :) I'm working on how can I give a unique live streaming experience to users (watching and engaging with the live stream). Would anyone be interested in joining my Beta group? Would much appreciate any honest feedback.

    Hope you're all doing well.

Hey there! My name's Nate and I'm looking for technical cofounder to help me build the future of how communities communicate. If you think most newsletters are spam, Slack should only be used for work, and other platforms are a nuisance, please let me know :)

Here's a bit more about where I'm at with me and my project:
PROBLEM: Inorganic communities (think most non-profits, VCs, etc.) either try to communicate efficiently - "Hey I put it in our Slack, so now everyone knows about it!" or effectively - "Alright, I'll personally WhatsApp you."
SOLUTION: A messaging app that provides the targeting ability of digital marketing tools with the responsiveness of a Slack.
STATUS: I have a functional prototype and have received really encouraging feedback from ~two dozen people I've spoken with.

    Hey all --

Nate here. I'm a former screenwriter who is now in the process of applying to law schools. While studying I had a kernel of an idea for a product that I can hopefully turn into a side hustle once I take the necessary steps to help that little kernel sprout a bit.

I'm in the very early stages of this but thought it would be great to see what this community is about and maybe learn a thing or two from some like-minded people.

    Hi Rosie,

Long time entrepreneur & independent consultant here, who is finally taking the steps into building a productized service.
Got brainwashed into coming here by @kylegawley, and quite impressed with some of the businesses i've seen in the intro's here!

I'm running www.financeinsightmatters.com - we help entrepreneurs (mainly service businesses) ask and answer key questions about their own business, by providing financial reporting & analysis on a subscription basis.

Feedback on the business and the website is more than welcome!

Bit about my background: studied finance, quit my corporate career after 2 years for the great adventure. Dutch by origin, but spent the last 10 years in China and Thailand, and it seems I have accidentally moved back to Europe (Budapest) thanks to the travel restrictions these days!

Hi! My name is Andrรฉ, I'm a filmmaker from Brazil.

I recently realized that most marketplaces for freelancers don't help them get jobs and they also don't care about the time that companies spend analyzing hundreds of proposals and profiles.

So I am developing the MVP of a platform that will easily connect the company's needs with the freelancer who does exactly that type of work.

    1. 1

      Hi,
That is really nice. What kind of product are you creating. Can you share some insights? We have a similar platform, lets discuss more if you are interested.

Hey! Iโ€™m new to Indie Hackers and trying to start a couple different side projects. Iโ€™m a full time product manager but enjoy developing. A few years ago I made a Darts scoring app in Swift - just for fun not profit and to learn the process. This year Iโ€™ve been learning the Ionic Framework and have a couple small ideas that would also be free apps and a couple larger ideas that could be profitable.

An example of a small free app I want to build is a calculator for A/B test significance - this is just solving a personal need since there are some website thatโ€™s do it but no native app that would help me with my day job.

A bigger project Iโ€™m thinking about is a sports memorabilia collection app. It would be less centered around the price/value of your items and more about record keeping and details of who the players are. Technically it would require accounts, database, subscription pricing - stuff I havenโ€™t built before.

Any advice on if I should jump straight into my bigger projects or โ€œpracticeโ€ more first with tiny apps?

    Nice to meet you all!

Hey, I'm Corey and I'm working on a newsletter for people pursuing jobs in tech. I've worked as a programmer and data analyst for 8 years since leaving a finance job at a bank in 2012. I know how daunting the world of tech can be, from job titles, expectations (like equity) at companies, and basic tech ideas (what is the command line?). I want to share this with others who are leaving old jobs and industries to join tech companies.

When I switched to a career in tech, I had no idea how anything worked. Since then, I've built a lot of small projects and consider myself a generalist. I hope this makes me equipped to help people make the jump into tech.

I have a good writing practice but I need feedback and to better define the audience. My goals for the next few weeks involve writing practical, useful articles and answer questions of people throughout the internet that are looking to get into tech.

I'd love to hear your feedback. I'm hoping to lean into IndieHackers with this project to keep me accountable and keep on track. Cortland's podcast, especially his conversations with David Parr have been inspirational and I'm committed more than ever to iterating with the audience in mind (rather than tinkering on my own without any feedback).

Reach out if you want to chat!

    Corey

Hello, Iโ€™m Jaylinee! I am an entrepreneur based in Miami, Fl. Next week, Iโ€™ll be launching my app โ€œRaggโ€. Ragg is an on demand- like cleaning platform that has been in development for over a year. Iโ€™m a little nervous for launch. I know I have a lot to improve moving forward, but Iโ€™m here to learn more things from you guys!

  161. 1

Hi Rosie and IH community! I am super excited to dive into this community. I learned of Indie hackers from a mentor and she recommended I come here to get some insights into building a profitable side business.

I work in the music and entertainment industry. In my line of work, streams of income are variable and with covid-19, it has really revealed how vulnerable I am. I am sure I am not the only person feeling this way but I hope that my action oriented attitude will be a step in the right direction.

Currently do not have any solid ideas but hope to learn as much as I can, and eventually land at a concept that will add value and work for my skill set.

    Chat soon!

    Vicki

Hi, I stumbled upon Indie Hackers while browsing through Product Hunt. I've started 2 tech startups, first one in P2P FinTech (failed), 2nd one (Enterprise Industrial IoT) doing ok. I also have a family business in electrical equipment manufacturing. My strengths are around understanding customer needs and taking B2B tech products to enterprises.

During COVID I've seen the struggle that my dad is going through in just to stay above the water. Given my experience in tech and having seen how tech companies grow, I've been contemplating creating a tech-enabled service for the manufacturing SME space. On a high level what I want to build is akin to AWS but for Manufacturing. Covering all aspects of the ecosystem including well designed and managed manuf. space, sourcing raw material online, finding customers online and eventually growing the company without incurring large fixed costs normally associated.

I'm still in the early stages of figuring out what to build but any comments / feedback on what I intend to do are welcome :)

    Ravi

    Hi,
Brand new here and to the digital economy. Trying to build a business online- dabbled a bit in e-commerce- not much joy there - so starting off afresh with - DIY blog and website. Working on a tight budget so progress is slow but steady - sometimes. Learning a lot on the way though. I do get demotivated occasionally so I'm joining IH, hoping to re-motivate my self and get quicker results so I can fix a launch date soon.

Today, I'm joining the indie hackers community to introduce my app ZudVPN (https://zudvpn.com)

ZudVPN is a mobile application that's used to deploy your own private VPN server on major Cloud Providers. No more thinking who is behind your VPN server! Own it!

    A short features list:

    • Deploys a VPN server to major Cloud Providers (DigitalOcean only, others coming soon)
    • Connects to Cloud Providers using OAuth2 or an existing API token
    • Uses IKEv2 IPSec-based VPN service (strongSwan)
    • Sets up an ad-blocking DNS resolver (Pi-hole)
    • Installs VPN profile with SSL/TLS certificate (Signed by Let's Encrypt)
    • Uses native VPN client
    • Contains a xterm.js-based Terminal for SSH connection to the server (Experimental)

The app is on Beta Test: https://testflight.apple.com/join/o2U4Ljbh

Hi everyone, my name is Richard and I'm an engineer currently based in Berlin, Germany.

My current project is https://boost.courses, a mobile app and web platform for creating and consuming interactive courses. Courses built on Boost use methodologies that are up to 6x more effective than watching video courses...plus they're a lot more fun too ;)

Would love some feedback on the idea.

Looking forward to connecting with you all!

  179. 1

Hello. I am building a small app called https://waterfaller.dev/ which allows you to analyze and annotate https://webpagetest.org/ results. It makes it easier to write and test page speed optimization stories. This is admittedly an app for a narrow audience and use-case, but I'm hoping that over time, it can build a loyal base of users because page speed is an evergreen problem.

  180. 1

Hi there! Exited about joining IH.
I have a 10-year all-round-digital career behind me and I am still employed full time. At some point, I felt like I have enough knowledge to bring my own ideas to life.

The latest one is Clipsus (https://clipsus.app), just launched last week. It is free to use Facebook Messenger bot that allows creating collaborative group videos. The kind of videos that bring tears of joy for birthdays, weddings, etc. The bot allows collecting video clips from people right on Facebook and then stitches them together in a nice group video. This idea is not new, but the UX is.

It would be great to have feedback on this idea from like-minded people here! Looking forward!

    Hi everyone,
happy to become part of this community. :) My name is Jules and I am an iOS developer. Recently, I released my first app on the App Store. The app is called Newsic and it notifies users about new music releases from artists they like. Currently I'm featured on the german speaking App Stores with it and I got around 2k downloads already. Here's a link to it. Would be great if you have any feedback for me! :)

    Have a nice day

    Hi everyone!

A friend of mine told me to check out IndieHackers, and I'm glad I did! I'm a software engineer specializing in Android development. I have experience building apps, now I want to sharpen my skills in promoting them.

I recently released an app I've worked on for the past 6 months (link -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.murrayde.animekingmobile). Check it out! It's an app for avid anime fans to test their knowledge on 14,000+ anime titles. That's all! I can't wait to meet some new faces!

    Cheers,
    Dean Murray

Hey all, I'm Kyle. I'm always tinkering and building software and other business ideas on the side, but have yet to fully commit and follow through with launching these projects into something for the world to see. I'm hoping I can gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to actually launch something I've built through what I can gain from this community.

I'm currently focused on www.perklapp.com, which is an audio-based (and soon to be smart speaker integrated) social networking/podcast network app, aiming to make getting the information YOU WANT entirely hands-free.

I have also been working on a trivia game (mostly for fun) and an MMA fan judging app. The last idea I have been kicking around but haven't started yet is for a project management solution specifically for data analysts/business intelligence analysts (I work as one for my day job, and haven't found a good solution yet for managing the analysis project life-cycle, would love some feedback on this idea or suggestions for existing software/services).

Hope you all have a wonderful day!
    Kyle

Hi Thanks so much, i expect to get and contribute a lot to the community.

    Hey, I am Timo.

I have studied computer science and economics. Most of my time I worked in product management. After some time I looked for something new. So I started to work on a prototype for startup idea together with a friend of mine. We got our first customers, then went the usual Berlin way and looked to raise money. We found first potential angels but the more I talked to them the more I felt uncomfortable with raising money. I was looking for freedom and not a different way to get managed. So I quit before we did any round.

After that I started to do consulting for analytics and data setups. My plan was to do consulting to earn money and then fund my own products.

I guess you can image how well this went.

In the last 12 weeks the motivation grew stronger to go the next step and build something for me.

My product is a combination of scratching my own itch and two topics I really like Analytics and Operations.

When you do analytics you need some processes to scale your work and impact for your company. But these processes are hard to maintain. So you end up with ongoing data quality issues.
As a consultant I had a lot customers where I went into every year to clean up the stuff that had happened in between.

My product datatasks tries to streamline and automate these tasks around an analytics and data setup. Monitoring the data quality, document automatically and help to grow the insights.

I have a rough concept ready and will do surveys and interviews within my network as a next step.

Hello, It's not been long that I heard about Indie Hackers and how this community is great for sharing of ideas and getting in touch with people in different domains. I'm in the starting phase of a project for the tracking of time and productivity of employees in any organization, which has largely been inspired by the sudden change in the dynamic of the working culture during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am only at the budding stage of this idea and would love to know more about how other enterpreneurs and founders go about doing their work and getting it out infront of a wider audience. This is the first time I have been engaged in such a project and would appreciate any type of feedbacks or suggestions.

Hi I'm Inki from South Korea. I have a business marketing background.

I was hooked into the concept of lean startup, MVP and prototyping recently. Throughout the research, I found out about no code trend. We don't have that trend yet in S.Korea due to lack of API system infrastructure.

Many of starting startups(especially ones without developers), struggle to build an application so they outsource them that costs roughly $30,000. So I would like to build a community or a tool that enables people to create web-based landing page/mobile application quickly and easily.

I will be looking forward to getting insights from you guys. Thank you

    Hey I'm Brandon! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm a podcaster, designer, & soon to be education founder.

I believe evolution of the world requires evolution of the individual.

If we are to address the worldโ€™s greatest challenges and ultimately thrive as a society, then we need to liberate the individualโ€™s mind and equip them with the belief, knowledge and skills necessary to be effective leaders. So I plan to do this through disruptive education, entertainment, & philosophy at scale.

With a vision to launch an alternative higher education startup focused around marrying one's purpose to solving grand challenges by fostering acquisition of critical skills, I have been developing a model to better prepare students personally and professional for an ever changing world.

As a podcast host of Evolve, (https://www.evolvethe.world/), I interview thought provoking leaders and successful startup founders to educate, inspire, and empower other's success in leaving impact on the world.

I also had a small side project called Power To Podcast (https://www.powertopodcast.com/) which taught hundreds of others to to successfully launch their own podcast.

I've also been a designer for 8+ years starting in architecture, then graphic design, visual development, and now upgrading his my skillset in UX/UI design.

    Glad to be here!

Hi Rosie, I found IH tonight after googling side project ideas. I'm a webdev of 15 + years, and have worked in house, for agencies and also freelance.

I have built up a varied skillset over the years from front end coding, server admin, SEO, PPC and usability. Basically I need to apply this into a business of my own. I've built a few free WordPress plugins and have enjoyed that, but I'm looking to either productise a service or create a digital product. I'm just not sure yet but hope I can not only learn something from you guys but hopefully contribute and give something back too!

Hi, I'm Chris! I'm a software engineer living in Ohio. I work mostly on web apps first in Rails but now I'm enjoying building React front-ends and Go-based back-ends.

I'm hoping to launch a side-project building tools to plan and execute Disney World vacations, starting with Disney Vacation Club members. I've written a reverse search to easily find better reservations for the points you have to spend: https://dvcsedarch.lineleader.io.

Happy to be here and welcome any feedback!

Hi all! My name is Nathan. I'm a software engineer that's contributed to open source projects like Tensorflow and .NET core. I want to learn how to use my expertise to build a small SaaS company and do more then just trade my hours for $$$.

Hi Rosie! I am eager to support others, learn and grow. My marketing career building brands spans Consumer Packaged Goods, Medical Devices, Education, Technology and the Nonprofit sectors. I love market research, talking to people and baking biscotti. Building my first coaching website, learning how to promote my italian biscotti via Instagram, and podcasts are still all new to me.

Hi everyone! I'm a freelance web designer and just discovered IH through a friend who is also a member here.

I don't have an idea for a project yet but just wanted to get my feet wet with the community and have it as a standing resource when the right idea comes along :)

My name is Mike. I'm a self-employed contractor, doing programming for the web (using Elixir/Phoenix) and mobile (using Swift on iOS), who is looking to get back into products. I've done multiple software products before, some successful, some not.

I'm a huge fan of meetups and as such my current project is a tool for meetup organizers called Clubhouse Hosting.

    https://clubhouse.host/

My vision for Clubhouse Hosting is to provide tools to let group organizers create websites and event calendars under their own brand, domain and control. I want to empower these groups to build a better digital community experience that is not under the restrictive and questionable thumb of larger corporate platforms whose interests are their own, and not your groups.

I'm pre-revenue, self funded, solo founder (for now). Feel free to ping me with questions. Thanks!

    1. 1

Hey Mike! I'm Chris. I live outside Cleveland. Cool project! I'm not fully up to date on the drama with the current leader in the online Meetup space, but have heard some questionable things. It's nice to see something from someone who's on the ground. I signed up to your email list and best of luck!

Hi everyone. Dave, here from Surrey, UK. I'm a self-taught software developer, starting out from a background in computational statistics. I've led a few tech teams in my time, at startups and small companies, often having some relation to sport.

I've been a passive member of the IH community for a little while, getting inspiration from all the great things members are doing, but not being brave enough to take the plunge. Anyway, I know that isn't really in the spirit of things here so I've decided to jump in. I'm going solo, with a goal to build a lifestyle business based on SaaS products.

I've got a lot to learn, but in the spirit of doing, not waiting, I'm aiming to launch a first public-facing experiment to get me on track by the end of the month.

Good to connect, hope to be in touch more soon.
    Dave

    Hey Indie Hackers,

We are really excited to join this community!

We have two active projects and many more on the backburner.

    ## Custom Uptime

The main project is a downtime monitoring solution with plans to build a product suite targeted at startups who do not want to start shelling out $20/month for downtime alerts. We will be charging $1/month/check and plan to make all of our services pay-per-use with monthly payment options so startups can be nimble and control how much they spend on their monitoring.

We are currently in development hosting our solution at the following domain.

    http://www.customuptime.com/

    ### Goal

With Custom Uptime we want to ship a usable MVP by the end of June. We will be doing the standups every day. We are very busy this week as we are moonlighting to get this project rolling so we expect to have a hackathon this weekend to get a bulk of the work done followed by finishing touches over the week until our product is ready for primetime.

    ## WinningWithChase

This is the blog of our founder Chase Ward who is currently a Staff Software Engineer at Calm the mindfulness app.

This blog is hosted at the following domain. We are using Gatsby and Netlify and highly suggest the pair to anyone spinning up a website.

    https://winningwithchase.com/

The focus of the blog will be educating and empowering engineers and business leaders.

We will also be releasing any open source software we create through this blog.

    ### Goal

We want to ship 3 pieces of great content by the end of June as well. We have the beginning of one article giving a definition for Compute Engines for software engineers and product managers alike.

We also have some open source software we want to create for DevOps engineers managing Ansible to manage secrets and variables in their configurations. We hope to make this one of the articles we launch by the end of the month.

    ## Conclusion

We are very excited to be joining this community and look forward to engaging with y'all!

    Happy building! ๐Ÿ’™

Hi, I am a computer scientist doing research on solar energy. In my free time I really enjoy working on side hustles.

I have some ideas in mind. But currently, I am focus on Randator (https://randator.com), a one step brand name generator. I am working on this because none of the current online tools helped me much when looking for name for projects, websites, etc.

In fact Randator itself generated its name, I introduced the keywords: brand, name and generator and one of the suggestions was โ€œrandatorโ€ ๐Ÿ˜„.

The current version is a proof of concept, there is still a lot work to do, but I hope to find here some feedback, tips and help to keep working, improving and promoting this tools.

Any feedback, comments and suggestions are appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚. If I can do something for you, let me know, I will be happy to help โ˜บ๏ธ.

    Dear fellow I-Hackers,

I'm Stรฉphane ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท, and I am the founder of a product digital agency in Taipei, Taiwan - called "Dreamspot" https://dreamspot.io/ - Even though we have a focus on Asia, we have a worldwide reach and would accept projects coming from anywhere in the world.

I'm also personally an active entrepreneur (I majored in Software Engineering) and always looking for new ideas of products & opportunities, hoping to build one by ourselves one day that will scale up and make us less dependant on our service offers.

In my spare time, I am also life coaching & giving PT lessons to people, but this is more of a hobby than anything else; I feel at the same time it allows me to connect with people at a deeper level and have a better understanding of their needs and daily problems.

I'm here to try to spot new good ideas, find new partnerships and humbly share my experience if it can be of any help.

Hoping to have great conversations on this amazing place !

Hey! Iโ€™m Chris. Iโ€™m a Bay Area dev, new to IH and new to bootstrapping a business. I have had an idea for a productivity tool nagging at me for years and by the end of 2020, Iโ€™d like to make it a real product.

Iโ€™m not super interested in excessive growth. Instead, my long-term goal is to make a handful of sustainable, one-or-two-person projects that offer a focused product for a reasonable price. Iโ€™m not interested in replacing my day job yet ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Often my biggest blockers are finding resources on the... well, business side of running a business. Registering an LLC, safely filing taxes for that business, figuring out how to charge on a monthly basis, etc (since Iโ€™ve been lurking, @lunchbag had an interesting post on this last item recently - thank you Jen). Iโ€™m looking forward to filling in all the missing pieces. Thanks for having me on IH!

    Hi,

I am a software developer generalist from Finland, building a recruitment platform for junior developers.

Our companies and applicants are mostly in Finland, but we also support remote working and hiring.

Our project is called Pikadev, https://pikadev.fi/ . An online platform to connect developers with companies for free. The name comes from a phrase: "Pick a Developer", meaning that companies should be able to pick the best junior talent themselves, rather than the other way around.

I've been doing this as a side thing for over a year now and for the past 4 months, I've shifted to doing this as my day job. And our method of choice is bootstrapping.

If you're doing something similar or just curious, I'm always up for a chat.

    Cheers,

    //Joonas

    Greetings fellow game changers!

My name is Eric Mutta, I am based out of Tanzania, East Africa and have been writing code for 23 years now (started at age 14 after watching the movie "Hackers")

I created and operated a startup for 12 years in Africa, which is a bit like trying to do brain surgery while strapped to a charging elephant...and I have a lot of war stories to share (like that one time I got 15 seconds to present my accounting software to the president of Tanzania who hadn't eaten anything all day!)

My goal for 2020 is to start a new side gig to keep my brain active (I am employed part time), join a community of like-minded people, share my experiences and most of all learn from all of you AWESOME people out there!

Great idea, fair pricing! Wish it was around when I was still studying Chinese...!
A short demo video on the landing page would be a great addition to show me how it works before I have to sign up :)

Great idea. I wish I would of had this a few months ago! I was preparing for the GRE for grad school and made physical flash cards for vocab to do spaced repetition. Its a great learning tactic I picked up from learning expert Jonathan Levi of Superhuman Academy when I interviewed him on my podcast
