Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Mar 22nd)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! 👋

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. 👇

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! 🤗

    Hi everyone,

I'm Olivia, one of the co-founders and COO of Contra.com :)

Contra is a full-service platform for remote and independent workers. Meaning: create a profile, house your portfolio, set up contracts and secure payments, and interact with your custom professional community.

In 2020 we're hoping to launch the first version of our product, close our seed round, do a whole bunch of hiring, and overall, help people realize their goals of working remotely/independently and on their own terms!

    1. 1

      Hi Olivia,
Love the landing page. There's a huge opportunity for a platform of this kind since I have been working remotely myself for over 3 years. So I see the value in it. We did a hackathon this week to hack remote so this totally resonates with some of the problems remote workers face. Would really appreciate some advice from you as I am at the start of my journey of building a platform for entrepreneurs. My biggest struggle is I don't come from a tech background. Would love to know how you built your team. Especially the tech aspect? Also, what's your landing page built on? Wordpress, Wix or ?
Thanks in advance and wishing you and the team all the best.

    2. 1

Hi Olivia, very polished looking landing page! Also love the name, reminds me of one of my favorite NES games. Small feedback here, I think you need to find a way to make it more apparent way up on the landing page the second part to your answer from the FAQ:

      What is Contra ?
Contra is a new professional community for the independent workforce. It's like LinkedIn, but for independent professionals.

I didn't completely get what was going on until I read that last line referencing LinkedIN. I thought it was some combination of upwork / freelance marketplace, but then the homepage was talking so much about community that I was a little confusing and the rah rah language fell flat for me as my mind couldn't tether it to anything.

This line --> "Connect to the first professional platform built for the independent workforce." needs a qualifier that likens it to LinkedIN, as technically it's not the first platform for independent workforce, there's plenty of freelance type sites who can claim that too... When you mentioned LinkedIN the lightbulb went off for me and I thought "Oh neat!" So whether you will or won't want to mention LinkedIN front and center is up to you, but I wanted to let you know that the frame of reference to LinkedIN or equivalent qualifier was key to my understanding it quickly. Hope you can appreciate my humble feedback.

      Best of luck!

    3. 1

Hi @oliviahoskin ! I registered on Contra, and I love how it feels and looks.

I have a question for you. What is the single most important personal trait of successful remote workers in your opinion, and why?

    4. 1

Wow, Olivia, great product! Congrats on all the progress you've made. I signed up and will check it out, although my skills don't neatly fit into one of the categories listed on the FAQ.

One small piece of feedback, it was tedious to add my employment dates, because I had to click back for every month of every year, all the way to my first job's start date.

Good luck, and if you have any feedback for my project (https://getblueteam.com), I would be very grateful!

      1. 1

        Thanks so much :)

Noted and on the backlog now! I will check out Blue Team for sure!

Hello, my name is Alexander, I live in Munich, Germany. I am finishing my studies in computer science and building a tool similar to Google Analytics but for offline businesses. The idea is to use computer vision to count unique visitors and collect some demographic information (gender, age group etc).
That's probably not the best idea to work on during the pandemic but for now I am continuing.

Always happy to talk and discuss ideas in those times of social isolation :)

    1. 3

Ouch yes, tough idea for right now, but no business is built over night. It is an interesting concept though.

    2. 1

To count number of unique visitors using Computer Vision, you first have to store data of all the people who entered and then check for every person whether he is new or not ...... This doesn't sound reasonable practically....iykwim

    3. 1

During this time of home isolation and many business working from home. What businesses do you believe are going to grow and become more successful?

  3. 4

    Hi Rosie,
I am a 59 yo woman who has worked in IT in various industries and education since the mid-'80s. I am a self-taught/peer taught. In 2007 I worked solely as an independent web development contractor. From 2009 - 2015 I worked for a small family-owned internet company where I was the IT department and Web Developer. Kinda burnt out in 2015 and after a long break where I relocated to Detroit/Hamtramck MI and renovated and sold a series of homes that I lived in, I own my current small home mortgage-free. Having affordable housing has allowed me to take more satisfying although low paying work. I currently work part-time for my local public library. It is the hardest job that I have ever had but one where I can truly help people.

I have also learned to grow medical marijuana indoors. I am interested in joining the Indie Hackers community to explore ways that I can merge my IT experience with my passion for indoor cannabis cultivation into a viable retirement career.

Hi, my name is Josh. I'm from the Birmingham, UK. I've been a software engineer for around 4 years now, but always wanted to build my own product that I sell. I'm commiting to creating an MVP of a product that is fully shipped and able to be purchased online.

    Hi all,
my name is Anton, I am interested in developing the scalable projects, demand driven, using some simple technologies to validate the idea and product and build the user community around. Very keen on lean and bootstrapping.

Hello everyone! My name is Joe. I live in Houston, Texas. After being the first employee of a successful start-up, I'm hungry to build a product that can make a difference. I don't know what that product is yet, but I'm hoping to find the right problem to solve soon. I'm happy to be here!

Hi guys, I’m Ammar. I’m from London in the UK. I have been in the sales industry for a few years. Last year I decided to take steps to transition into the tech industry. I’m going to university to study computer science in Sep.

I came up with this idea of an online platform that connects organisations with people who want to advertise for them and get paid to do so. Mainly outdoor advertising. If you have free space on your car/bicycle/motorcycle box/property window, you can list it on the platform as a host, and local businesses can connect with you and advertise on your property. I made a landing page and started getting companies and hosts pre-registered, companies mainly.

I have a small amount of businesses pre-registered. I have got to this stage; unfortunately, I have got tech business block lol on what steps to take next due to covid.

Now I'm trying to find co-founders and developers to join me on this journey. I'm interested in bootstrapping and merging with others for partnership.

If you have any advice or questions, please shoot me a message!

    Hey guys,

My name is Dave, and I'm a software engineer from Dublin, Ireland.

I am the founder of https://CodeScreen.dev, a developer assessment platform. CodeScreen aims to make the technical assessment part of the interview process for developers as real-world as possible, allowing candidates to give the best version of themselves, while also removing the unconscious bias associated with whiteboard challenges, live pair programming, etc.

We are 100% bootstrapped and have been live since February 2019, with multiple paying customers on board.

I am currently digital nomading in Marbella, Spain. I was previously based in London, but the not so beautiful weather and high living costs pushed me to the sunny south of Spain!

Up until a few days ago, I never knew Indie Hackers existed (I must have been sleeping under a rock). It's incredible to see such a large community of peeps building profitable, bootstrapped businesses online.

    Excited to be here!

    1. 1

I checked out your app, very cool!

      1. 1

Thanks, Michael! Let me know if you need early users for the resume/job finding tool you're building. Happy to give feedback!

        1. 1

Thank you so much! Will do!

Also, I'm trying to follow you back but I dont see anywhere to do so 😭

Hi there, Rich here. I joined a few weeks back, but didn't get around to saying hi. I'm a writer and bootstrapper from London, UK. A few years ago I founded Chess Cubs: we used to do in-person chess tuition for kids, but six months back piloted a remote-first online service (now much needed). Hoping to release site this week, but have more than a few cross browser bugs to iron out. Thanks for the great podcasts and info. The shows with @arvidkahl and 1se founder were great; also enjoyed business model discussion with Transistor founder. Looking forward to hearing the rest!

PS: Any recommendations for simple cross browser testing tools pls? esp. anything freemium. 👇🏾

If you have ever created something that no one bought, then you know how that felt.

Yes, that was me 6 years ago.

Hi, I’m Melvyn from Singapore. You see, I’ve been a trainer and consultant for more than a decade. For many years, I’d get asked to conduct a training on “self-mastery” every year.

Thinking that if I’d just turn this into an online course, I would not only able to reach more people helping them with “self-mastery” and also it will make perfect business sense for me!

So I buried my head for the next few months and created this awesome online course on “self-mastery”. Thinking it would be a GREAT success when I launched it.

But guess what? No one bought. Z.E.R.O.

    Fast forward 4 years later.

I pre-sold an online course to 20 people. In fact, I did not even have to try very hard to sell them!

Not only did they pay me upfront for an online course that I haven’t created.

Now, with all the funds in hand, I was able to invest in the right tools and software to create that awesome course that these people have been waiting for me to create.

I’m here to take my community building skills to the next level with @8bit and am in the same cohort with Eric (@StayingGeeky).

Hit me up if you’d like to find out more about how to “Teach to Sell”!

    1. 1

Hi Melvyn, so inspiring to read your story. Thanks for sharing! Would love to learn more about how to "Teach to Sell."
P.S. I traveled to Singapore in January, it it's a beautiful country. Hope you say well and healthy.

      1. 1

Hey, I'm glad the story inspired you. Thank you for visiting my country. It is beautiful in our ways. :)

Definitely love to share more about "Teach to Sell"!

    2. 1

grateful that you're here and that you haven't quit! building something for yourself can take a long time... but, the lessons we learn are the real take aways! growth is never linear and it's always surprising!

Salaam, my name is Dr Aamir Rashid, I'm from islamabad Pakistan. I'm a restaurateur running a multi-chain street food brand and an italian restaurant. I'm well aware of the fact that the future of restaurants is in complete digitization . The restaurants who are not operable through a Mobil ,in a couple of years they would be the dinosaurs of the future . I'm here to look for an opportunity to develop a unique digital platform for the food industry in Pakistan. Any ideas and support in this regard is welcome and appreciate .
Also I'm looking for a business opportunity to harvest in this time of global lockdown .

Happy to talk to anyone about how to improve their relationships or understanding yourself!

Hi, my name is Fayez. I live in Canada and two years back I founded the world's first online startup launcher realityline.ca.

Entrepreneurs create posts about their business ideas like they do here, then we provide them with research data to help them figure out the potential in their ideas. I have been improving the platform every step along the way and it's still being improved today.

I founded it because I have been coming up with business ideas that I thought were great but after thorough research turned out to be horrible. Just wanted to solve this issue and empower us entrepreneurs with data so we can make better decisions.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

    Hi all,
I'm Eugene, a Ukrainian and software engineer from Singapore. Most of my experience comes from backend development with java\kotlin\go. Currently looking for ideas and inspirations to kick off my next online business. Very excited to join the indie hackers community! Stay safe, wash your hands

Hi, would follow you on this one!

    Hello Hackers!
My name is João from the sunny country of Portugal!
I started my journey in entrepreneurship last year after leaving Deloitte. Started building a SaaS solution to help political parties share and debate their ideas for the country with other parties and with citizens. However I was alone developing the project and I missed the go to market timing which turned to be a failure.
I joined a startup incubator in Lisbon called Demium and I'm learning step by step everything I should have done previously. But hey, sometimes you have to learn it the hard way and for me that's the way I learn faster. :P
I have experience with full-stack development in the Java world, but I'm now focusing and learning new technologies to simplify development and implement scalable infrastructures.

Here are the technologies I'm focusing right now: GatsbyJS, ReactJS, NodeJS backend, GraphQL, Kubernetes.

I'm consumed by automation and inspired by good engineering. I would like to automate absolutely everything in my next startup and that includes:

    • Billing and Payments
    • CRM
    • Accounting
    • App deployment
    • Server scalability
    • and others
    1. 1

Great to see you not giving up! What's your next project?

      1. 1

We are building a SaaS solution to automate Real Estate Agentes tasks and processes in Portugal. Right now we are designing the solution with a partner from a local real estate agency.

  21. 2

Hey guys, great to be part of a new community! I hope that we can all share knowledge here and learn from each other

  22. 2

Hi All! My name is Edoardo, I am a software engineer passionate about cloud development and I am based in Barcelona. I am co-founder and Tech Lead of Stryke (www.stryke.io), a platform that makes it easy and fast to develop and share cloud applications.

I found Indie Hackers through this great article: https://www.indiehackers.com/@PovilasKorop/97fda7c81f and was pleasantly surprised to find a vibrant community.

My goal for 2020 is to build Stryke’s user base and seek investments to grow the product. Stryke is already functional and being used successfully on a handful of projects. We now need more people to join to be able to take it to the next level. By the way, the platform is open and anyone can sign up. I invite you to do so if you want to give it a shot!

I would love to connect with anyone here with whom to share insights and learn from.

Hoping to hear from you soon!
    Cheers,
    Edoardo.

    Hi Hackers,

I’m a Venezuelan/Spanish entrepreneur living between Berlin and Barcelona. I have been growing businesses that have been backed by Rocket Internet, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft Ventures, Axa Ventures and more VCs. I’m an engineer but have been focusing on marketing, business development, product and finding great talent for multiple industries (e-commerce, e-health, AI, fintech and proptech)

    Here is my profile: http://linkedin.com/in/manuelgonzalezalzuru

I’m on almost all the social media with the following user name @ManuAlzuru.

The last 12 months I decided to leave my job and focus on helping DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) and other products that bring freedom to the world. The products that I have been supporting have been amazing, however, they are just not sustainable yet as I believe we are in very early stages and crypto still not ready for mass adoption so I decided last month to focus instead in creating sustainable businesses that could start producing cash right away and could be very low maintenance.

I’m looking to get to know more technical partners so we can launch businesses fast let me know if this sounds interesting to you.

    Regards,
    Manu

Hi, I'm Simon from Munich, Germany. I am an entrepreneur, currently building software for investors in the VC sector, meaning a CRM/SRM tool as well as a pitch deck parsing application. Apart from that, I'm trying to run some smaller side projects, which is not always easy taking into account the workload of a co-founder and CTO.
I'm here because I am a long time listener of the podcast and also have been lurking around for quite some time now as well. As I'm trying to grow as an entrepreneur and maker, and I'm looking to launch some more products as an indiehacker I decided to join the community.

I am looking forward to connecting with people and getting feedback, growing and hopefully launching products together.

    Hi everyone,

I am a part time and intermediate python developer using pure python and django for web projects.

So far, I have only worked on personal projects that solves personal problems for I and maybe a few friends on request.

I want to be more open now and do something that I can offer as a service and earn money, while still enjoying myself.

Thanks for the platform and am hoping to be among the people that adds value to the world with this platform

  47. 1

    Hi everyone, I'm Ben.

Right now I don't have any indiehacker projects on the itinerary, but it's my goal to change that sooner rather than later! I'm currently studying software development, with the ultimate goal of creating (and hopefully monetizing) some projects of my own. I have past experience as a content marketer and am an evangelical for remote work.

I love no code tools, but have decided to pursue software development b.c:

    1. you get way more flexibility with what you can make
    2. you can earn good money (remotely!) while you're side hustling your personal project into existence
    3. it's fun! 🤓

I'm looking forward to getting more involved in the indie hacker space and seeing everyone's great bootstrapped ideas!

  48. 1

Hi, I'm from London interested in building online platform for connecting peoples. I work in bank as senior manager, I'm learning full stack development online and want to try out my learning as side project.

  49. 1

Hi all, I'm Jethro from South Africa. I built a free invoicing platform in 2012, paypod.co.za, that just would not die no matter how much I ignored it. I'm now focusing on the project, building new features and monetising it. I've been told, "the world doesn't need another invoicing platform, you're wasting your talent!". And to be honest, that kind of feedback did erode my confidence. However, my users give me positive feedback, sticking with the platform for years at a time.

My goal is to fully support myself and rebuild the whole platform into a truly competitive product while sticking to certain core values - simplicity and affordability.

I have about 26 paid users after two months of launching upgrades. Some early, some monthly. First achievement unlocked: the system is paying for itself and giving me some pocket money.

    HELLO FELLOW INDIE HACKERS 😀
I'm Michael, a JS developer from Chicago.
I've been working on JS development, UX, and business development skills over the last 15 years. These disciplines have all finally come together, which allow me to tackle my passion for business with all hands on deck!

This year (2020), I've decided to put my efforts into a new venture... R2.
R2 is a practical way for people to update their resumes and find jobs, but leaving all the headaches in past.
Such as: worrying about font types and styles, correct formatting, proper verbiage, misplaced information, wrong dates, managing contact of recruiters, updating linkedIn, the list goes on....

Applying for jobs can be a stressful experience over-all and I hope to remedy this in a new way.
Updating your career should be as easy as updating your facebook status and that is what I want to tackle this year while building R2!

    Hi everyone!

My name is Kush, I'm finishing up my senior year at Harvard studying computer science.

My goal is to have built something that generates $1000/month in revenue by the end of the year. The money is a marker rather than a goal, as my purpose in setting this goal is in learning how to go from no idea to an idea, go from idea to tinkering project, go from tinkering project to serious commercial endeavor, getting the first outside dollar in from a customer, and how to scale up to a reasonable extent from there.

I'm posting publicly to the forum as an accountability measure for me - the same reason I'm using my real identity. The (self-inflicted) social pressure of showing my friends this post and having them know my goal means that I'll make this a reality.

  66. 1

    Hi guys!

    I'm Alican, founder of https://www.lindyfeed.com.

LindyFeed is a modern library. It is an online platform where people can discover all sorts of great resources - like books, videos, podcasts, articles, etc - and the creators of these resources on the topics they are interested in.

I've discovered IndieHackers very recently, loved the idea and its community and wanted to be a part of it :)

My goal in 2020 is to discover our product/market fit, learn more about growing a business and building a community of great learners around it.

I dont have any over-arching goals: I know I find IoT interesting and AI. I also feel like I'd love Data Science. currently learning JS. more focused on full-stack type stuff, but I know JS is super fluid in how it can be applied, so I kind of stopped looking at Python

tl;dr: idk what Im doing, but I know I want to give this a shot

Hi, I'm Elizabeth and I'm a business student in London, Canada.

I have a background in the digital marketing field and I'm planning to leverage this along with my passion for self help/mental health to build an online business in the blogging and info product space. The idea is a blog for actively learning about mental health that's monetized with paid ads and affiliate marketing.

I'm hoping to find a community of others working in the mental health, affiliate marketing blogging and info product space because I don't know anyone doing it!

Hey everyone! My name is David, and I'm very new to the blog-for-business game. I live in Auckland, New Zealand - where we've just gone into full-scale lockdown as a country, and as a result, I don't have any more excuses for not starting on the journey of growing my startups 🤭. I left my corporate development job 6 months ago now, to try and "launch and learn" and it's been really fun! Currently, I'm working with the founder of an NZ based receipt OCR startup https://taggun.io/ and we're two like-minded individuals who are using the successes of that platform to try and innovate and launch our other wack ideas like https://billhook.io/ ... I don't know what 2020 has in store for us, but I know I'm going to learn heaps from like-minded indie hackers!! Kia ora! 😀

At my former company, I conceived, planned, developed and deployed a scaleable service to Nike, Google, Costco, and to smaller less knowns. Our new service has been created and deployed a demo. I am stuck trying to make my next move.

Hi, I'm Daniel. Currently based in London, UK and I've worked within the financial market space as a software developer for almost five years now (mostly server-side C++ and Python in front office, risk and exchange connectivity)

My interest in Indie Hackers was piqued after reading the comments section on HN for a post about the one-man band behind listennotes.

I would someday love to have my own business or join as a partner/co-founder for a start-up. I'm slowly dying inside from the (mostly artificial) pressures of the corporate world and I need a way out to exercise my imagination, drive and entrepreneurship.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress and garnering continual inspiration from your efforts. Glad to meet everyone and I hope you're all well amidst this COVID-19 fiasco/nightmare.

Howdy! My name is Yanni Hufnagel and I am the Founder & CEO of Lemon Perfect, a naturally refreshing, zero sugar cold-pressed lemon water with essential antioxidants and hydrating electrolytes.

Lemon Perfect’s mission is to democratize drinkable wellness by making Lemon Perfect accessible for anyone, anytime, anywhere. That's exactly what I'm working towards.

Athletes take such care to put only the best ingredients in their bodies; why would we sell sports drinks that are filled with sugars if that's the case? I believe in making the best, most nutritious sports drink available on the market and i think Lemon Perfect can be that product.

Before starting Lemon Perfect, I had the good fortune of serving as an assistant men’s college basketball coach at Nevada, California, Vanderbilt, Harvard, and Oklahoma. In my 10 years coaching college basketball, I was lucky enough to reach the NCAA Tournament six times. It was truly a dream come true.

    Hi Rosie,

My name is Shae Hong and I am the CEO, Chairman, and co-founder of Sensio, Inc., which is now known as Made By Gather. I have extensive experience in business development, consumer products, and merchandising and used that to build Sensio Inc. into the company it is today.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Washington and I am a big believer in building community. I started Sensio Inc. with the simple idea of making products that will help people come together around the most communal space in our homes, the kitchen table.

In light of recent events, though we can't gather with our friends around a table and share a meal, we are still able to share that space with our roommates, partners, and families. This is the beauty of our company mission statement; that even in times of challenge we still gather around the table and share a cup of coffee or a meal.

  102. 1

Hello! My name is Deana, and I live in upstate NY. I am the co-founder of Allcall (https://allcalltravel.com/) a marketplace for travel itineraries. We've been in market since December, and have learned a lot! On the pro side, we've built the foundations for a great community - our social media and regular emails are very well received! On the challenge side, we know the product experience isn't as amazing as it can be. So based on customer feedback, we're making a plan for version 2 of the site, which is more geared towards providing utility for travelers in all phases of dreaming/planning, and less about rigid curation. Our main focus right now is i) finding a technical lead and ii) recruiting a beta testing group. I'm excited to be in this community and learning from all you smart & passionate people!

My Name is Jeff and I am a 45 year young unemployed IT Professional. I have probably touched on all aspects of IT in my 22 years...I was laid off 6 months ago and have not been able to find work. Not sure if it is my age, lack of "formal" education or broad knowledge. I have never really focused on programming or developing since BASIC...Yes it has been that long, but I find myself trying to learn javescript, python, C# now at 45. I have a 14 year old son that is counting on me. My passion is in helping people, I know that sounds broad, but if there is a way to help people physically, mentally, financially, emotionally I will do it. Now, if I could only get paid for that passion. I look forward to learning from everyone willing to teach me the ropes. I am not too proud to admit that the road ahead may be super challenging especially at 45, but the one thing I am really good at is not knowing when to quit so when I get going, I keep going. I look forward to meeting everyone. - Jeff

Hi, my name is Max. I live in Houston, Texas, and I am currently looking for a job as a front end developer. I graduated from a coding bootcamp about two months ago, and I am trying to stay current with the community. I am trying to get inspiration for ideas of front end projects to add to my portfolio. I have a good understanding of Vanilla JavaScript and React, but I am trying to take my learning to the next level and create some kick ass frontend projects. If you have any project ideas for me to build, or even just hone my skills with, I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, I know Ruby on rails and have a basic understanding of NodeJS, Express, and SQL, but I am trying to get a position as a front end dev, so I would like to build strictly frontend projects.

    Thanks

Hi everyone 🌟 long(ish)-time lurker, first time caller! I've been in the sphere of online indie maker spaces for a while and as someone with an interest and skills in social media marketing and no-code projects I've always intended to take a 'proper' plunge into this area, and both general world events and personal stuff makes now a pretty good time to try to do so 🙌

As an actual intro, my name's Frank! I'm currently a third year music business degree student from Brighton-via-East-Kent with previous education in areas including business studies and communications theory. I have a big draw towards ideas servicing the music industry (I'm a manager who works in social media and PR for a local record label 💽), the LGBT community (I have nothing but pride in that respect 🏳️‍🌈), and the education sector (a primary school teacher mother makes me probably the most invested non-teacher you could find 📓).

I'm currently working on a Houston-but-from-the-music-industry idea - my degree studies mean that I'm in the position to crowdsource viable concepts with built-in leads from both the next generation of the music industry across Europe, and from tutors of mine who are involved with acts that rhyme with Bleeper and My Muddy Malentine, among others - as well as my third year pro project, which is getting a classical music platform-focused music distribution service to an MVP stage. I'm also UNBELIEVABLY up for working with people in the realms of social media marketing and community building, as well as (clearly!) anyone making anything, 'directly' music industry related or otherwise, that you could use someone pointing some musicians and music industry professionals towards.

This is: long, tl;dr I'm Frank 🌟! I like music stuff 💽 and LGBT stuff 🏳️‍🌈 and education stuff 📓! I can't write short things, and I'd be ecstatic to get involved with anything that I seem like I helpful for! 🤗

Hello and happy to be here to help any way I can and get help during my journey. I have worked just about every area of the SDLC both in IC and leadership roles. I have had this idea for about 10 years now and every time I start to get serious life gets in the way. I am recently laid off and taking this detour from the corporate road onto my idea highway. I am excited about this new opportunity to grow & learn and see where this goes. Steve...

Hi, I am Rajesh from Chennai. I have always wanted to create some product which could be of some use to anyone. I didn't know where to start, so I began with little text based game and showed the MVP to some of my friends. The response wasn't that great, as most of them reacted as if it's a waste of effort. But now I think I found the community from which I can get help/help others. I am already feeling really motivated with all the stuff I am reading here and I am waiting to be a part of this great community with full of creative people!

    Hi Rosie,
Thanks for the pointers on getting started, just took the leap and wrote my intro. Wishing you and all Indie Hackers safe isolation from Covid19 .

  170. 1

Hi everyone, my name is Aidan,

    You could say I am a bit of an old fart really when you consider the age of most Indie Hackers here. I have two projects I am working on right now which I believe are suitable for sharing here on Indie hackers as follows;

A proxy service like no other, called Yournet (yournet.io)

How can we make such a statement ? - Simple, our business model requires no payment, no credit card, no bitcoins, no email address, we don't want any personal data, we give you access to our real proxy servers in return for you completing a short 5 - 7 minute survey.

We make a small revenue through the survey providers.

That's it, no BS, no tricks, no invasion of privacy, no monitoring of your traffic, no injecting ads etc, no crap just a 100% legit proxy service like no other. (if you find one please tell us and we will change our tag line)

Also, we went live today as an MVP and hope we can reach out to users to critique our solution, business model, UX etc.

As we go to market we are only available on Chrome and to users in the United States and United Kingdom FOR NOW. But we will expand this as soon as we determine the project has legs! - and if feedback is positive we will enhance our MVP, e.g. extend country & browser support and bring on more survey providers.

So that is it - I hope this is not tool long an intro, have a look at https://yournet.io/

And say hello to this old Indie Hacker Fart if you get a chance

    :-)

Regards to you all and hope you are staying safe away from Covid19

    Aidan

PS - The other project is an incredibly exciting AI Project called epitom.ai - and I will introduce that further down the line.
