Welcome, introduce yourself! (Week of Nov 1st)

Rosie here -- the Indie Hackers community manager. Welcome! 👋

This short guide is meant to help you get the most out of Indie Hackers.

First, introduce yourself!

Indie Hackers is a community of people helping each other build profitable businesses and side projects. The key word here is "community." Don't be shy!

For starters, take a second to introduce yourself and share your goals in the comments below. 👇

Just say a few words about who you are, why you're here, and what you hope to accomplish or learn in 2020.

Take a moment to say hello to someone else as well!

Dive into learning.

We've interviewed hundreds of successful indie hackers. I recommend reading a few of their stories. It's a great way to get an overview of what's possible.

@csallen also puts out podcast episodes if reading isn't your thing!

Next, get started!

There's no time like the present. Check out the "Start Here" page for a list of practical steps and articles that can help you take action.

Not only will it help you get started, but it should also introduce you to some of the best parts of the Indie Hackers community.

This is just the tip of the iceberg! If you're ever feeling lost or confused, post in the Meta group or tag me (@rosiesherry) in any comment or post.

Don't forget to introduce yourself and say hi to someone else below! 🤗

Hi! I've been a hermit indie hacker for years now, and have decided to come out of my shell to build my latest SaaS product. Seems like everyone else is building in public, so I will give it a try. It's scary as hell! Any advice?

    1. 3

Same here bro. What are you building?

      1. 2

A no-code tool for syncing Airtable to Webflow CMS.
        What are you building?

        1. 1

I have an ecosystem of software and hardware in mind, but right now it's a news delivery app/service.

Hi everyone, I am an Italian soloprenuer living and working in Russia. I used to run a successful travel website for the past 8 years (www.st-petersburg-essentialguide.com) but due to the global pandemic my website got hit very bad so I am currently out of business and thinking what to do next year.

The last 3 months I have been researching and brainstorming new ideas for business and what I found out is that ideas are many but to implement them take time, money, and bravery. I am here to get inspired and get unbiased feedback about some ideas I would like to make within the next months.

    Have a great day folks!

    1. 1

You are right, implementing ideas takes a lot of resources. Hope you can take your proyects to reality.

    2. 1

Hi, that's really cool to hear! I'm an Italian, who speaks Russian, and lives in the UK, so it was cool reading this! I'm working on a project which aims to find the cheapest cloud provider and easily switch to it for individual developers and companies. :)

    Hi... New in coding...

    1. 1

      Congrats and welcome

  4. 3

I’m new around here and joined because I have a side project, an idea I’d like to build into an MVP, with the eventual goal of a sustainable business and exit from my current career. I need to bootstrap it because of work and life commitments and I thought I could gain valuable insights from this community!

    1. 1

Do you have some coding skills?

      1. 1

Yep. I don't code for my day job but can code... php, js, framworks. I can run servers / databases / DNS etc as well.

    2. 1

That's awesome, I think most of us are here for that. What is the project?

    3. 1

That sounds awesome, what kind of project, if i am ask?

      1. 2

In as few words as possible, it's an app that helps people control their data and therefore their privacy, and action their agency over sharing their data. I've had the idea for over a decade born out of my own frustrations but there was no market then and well, life gets in the way. Now I see a market beginning as there's general interest in privacy these days, with companies like Solid, DAT, the Sovrin network and so on... so no doubt there's competition but I'm hoping there's room for my idea as well.

        1. 2

Sounds awesome, although i wouldnt say its too unique, but its definitely worth a try. Privacy tools are certainly great for humanity as seen with various services/apps that are built on the Blockchain, Unstoppable Domains, Blockstack, Privacytools.io , Decentralized self sovereign identity and so much more.

    Hey everyone, Kinglsey here,
I am an athlete (Paralympic Rower) and a Software Developer, since the games was
postponed to 2021, I thought I use the lockdown to create a product, been silently
working away plus training too, basically creating a learning management system (LMS)
with some web development courses (Design - Frontend - Database Design - Python - Django Framework)

My weakness is in not communicating what I am doing, on indiehacker I want to change
that, so this is what I am working on everyone! :) less than a week from having a MVP.

    1. 1

Amazing! Good luck with your MVP!

  6. 2

    Hi 🙋🏻‍♂️
I’m in a full time job and interested in getting a side project off the ground. I thought of writing content about video games for busy bees in Russian language through Substack. Currently interviewing my friends to get into the ‘customer’ mindset. This should give me enough indication on where to start.
Have no idea how to monetise, but will figure it out along the way 🤔

I’m here to get honest, ruthless feedback once I get to validation/ prototyping stage. A colleague of mine praised this community as the real deal.
Does anyone have a great story to tell how indie hackers helped them with their projects?

    1. 1

Show us the link of your thing!! What's holding you up? :)

      1. 1

Hey Gabriel, here is the link https://www.gamingbeyond.eu/ :)
In terms of what's holding me up - currently, it is finding a way to build the initial audience.

  7. 2

    Hey everyone, Sebastian here,
I help tech SaaS with a vision scale their performance & understand their customers. I've been a passionate growth hacker & performance marketer for 8 years now.

SaaS I work closely with are usually so engulfed in numbers and data, that they forget who their profitable customers actually are or they never identified them in the first place.

That's where I come in to build and implement strategies so they can really connect and have meaningful conversations with their customers for sustainable growth & authentic brand building.
Understanding, communicating and solving the actual pain points, not just "nice-to-haves", is a major part of my work.

I'm all in for community building and storytelling combined with a data-driven performance approach because most SaaS I work with either focus on one side or the other - not both.

I'm also building a side project that focuses on how SaaS can build real connections with their customers and community online, now that communicating in person has become close to impossible.
More on that in a separate post.

I am happy to be part of this fantastic community and wish you all a great day! :)

  8. 2

Hi, I'm developer from Russia. Working on uptime/performance monitoring service Apdex. I already has MVP and a lot of plans too :-) Looking for feedback.

  9. 2

Hey gang - stumbled into IH and looking forward to being part of the community. 15 yrs experience building and scaling GTM functions (marketing/sales/success/support) within high growth saas orgs. Should be fun!

  10. 2

Hi folks, I'm a long-time PM leaving my tech job to focus on ideas and to build a business. Would love to eventually partner with a developer. My approach will be to test ideas without building anything until I land on one that I think is worth building an MVP against. My first idea involves building on Instagram to bring real-time collaboration to the home design and interiors space, which is siloed, manual, and annoying—a problem of mine that drives me a bit nuts. I'm not building anything until I've talked to enough people that I think it's viable, but if I did it might (?) be a reasonable-sized MVP providing we can be an Instagram business and consumer app like Later or Preview. Think Figma x Pinterest for Home and Interiors projects.

    Hi Everybody.
My name is Mads Knud Babiel Schmidt Petersen (I know, too long, hence my username MKBSP).
I am a lifetime member of the entrepreneur lifestyle, started my first company at age 16 in Denmark. Now I live in Colombia, recently resigned my job at a successful startup (greensill.com), to go all in on an idea (looks like funding is around the corner), but my passion project is a travel tech idea, which I will share soon.
I sometimes struggle with self-esteem and motivation, so im joining the community in the hopes of great feedback and emotional support.
    Thank you all!

    1. 1

I think it takes a lot of courage to talk about struggling with self-esteem and motivation @MKBSP . Great job on sharing that and hope it gets better with support from the community!

      1. 1

Agree with @sanjeed thanks for sharing @MKBSP!

  12. 2

Hi! I am a "software developer" with very minimal technical expertise, getting by thanks to the awesome folks in the developer communities . Although I took the job to make some money, recently I have been fascinated by this world and am planning to lose the quotes and become an actual software dev. Wish me luck! :)

    1. 1

      Good luck tiny!
What kind of stacks are you looking at currently?

  13. 2

Back in the game!!!! I just launched Plannd.co, a marketplace for discovering and booking private group virtual (and eventually live) events. Yay! I have three businesses onboarded so far with 2 more in the pipeline. My goal is to have 10 total businesses onboarded by the end of November!

Hi, my name is Alex Boa, I am passionate about digital marketing, websites, everything that is the basis of a website, I have many ideas for businesses that can reach the top on the internet but I have no collaborators, I am alone against everyone , I would like indie hackers to find collaborators who can become my friends in the future with whom to do great things.

  29. 1

I read some of the introductions here and very much pleased to see the enthusiasm.
I am a professional web developer. Over the years I found out, it takes a lot of effort to create something complete and fully featured. Along with development, design and testing, you need marketing, customer support and business strategies. We are indie and have to do it indie way. I am happy joining indiehackers. I want to build apps for small businesses.

  30. 1

Hello! I started as one and am now a trio building "peopley" stuff. In my quest to find something better than a 9 box HR competence prison I didn't turn up the right collaborative and visual for developing the humans in a business. So I "thunked" it instead. It's moving out of Client Beta into software build ... I'm the non techie ... it all looks like it's moving in the right direction being in peak Klingon speak right now ... so I figured I'd come here and do a bit of exploring to see how others are doing this and how tech choices stack up and play out. I'm looking at Roadmapping right now - not just the tech but the Ops wrap around it. Excited to explore and pleased to meet you all.

  31. 1

Hi All! I'm building a free, game-based personal finance education app I feel super passionate about. The name of the app is Finny (askfinny.com). I'm at the point where I'd love to get more feedback (good and bad), so I joined the Indie Hacker community. Also, happy to help any of you--I'm particularly interested in consumer fintech and educational products.
I live in the SF Bay Area, and we have a small team of 4 people (bootstrapped, no capital). We do get help and love from many people who are passionate about financial education and game-based design.
Feel free to chime in with your thoughts, ideas and feedback!

I'm Max, a software developer. Currently, I work as a Front-End specialist and specialize in TypeScript and React. Things that I find quite interesting to me as a developer: static typing, writing tests, and command-line interfaces.
Also, I am a (neo)vim user and improve configurations (that you can find on my GitHub) of an editor and some tools like a shell, terminal, etc.

Being a read-only internet user for a long time, I always dreamed about my own blog. So, that's my goal for the near future - to do my own blog and write posts there. I wanna share my developer experience and write about technologies that I used or interested in.
I also interested in topics like the Zettelkasten method that should help me start writing blog posts.

I'm glad to join the community. Stay tuned!

Hello! My name is Monika. I am a graphic designer and web designer. I was a Product manager in international company for almost 5 years. Than, one day, I've decided to follow my dreams of being a designer. I worked every free minute I had, towards this dream. I was watching videos, attending courses and trying to produce something decent.

Today I have my own firm for almost a year, but currently I am struggling with getting new clients. I am searching for new ideas. I am working on email campaigns, social media building and I also have a plan to launch my first product in online shop. I am designing my own planner and I am really excited about it, but I don't have any experience of selling the product.

I can't wait to learn something new and I hope I will also be helpful in this community.

    Ciao. Monika

Hi there! I've known about the Indie Hackers community for a while now but am just finally joining and am excited to be here. Hello!! I'm a recent university grad working out of Toronto, and I've decided to begin startup focused on matching students seeking internships with tech companies seeking interns.

I've lurked in the IndieHackers community for a while, but now seems like a good time to start engaging! Anyways, is there any advice for setting work-life boundaries? I feel like there's always another thing I could be working on.

  58. 1

    Hello Everyone!
Just joined this community. Seems like a great place to come back to develop accountability and progress!

Have been in the idea phase for a while, accumulating few different ones, but have never got to the point of starting to executing one until now. Each time I decide to start something, I get stuck in overthinking if it is the right time or is the right idea to work on. With zero momentum so far, I have decided to get started on something and get the wheels moving.

But I have this question I wanted to ask you all that brings me here to begin with. I am sure lot of you have different ideas flowing and wanting to do. But ...

    1. How do you actually end up deciding which one you want to pick and move forward ?
    2. What is the process you go through in evaluating that ?

Would appreciate any thoughts or inputs. Thanks!

    1. 1

Hi! Welcome to the community :p

About a year ago, I think I was in a similar spot to you where I would overthink a lot of opportunities and problems. One thing that helped me break out of that cycle was putting a bunch of landing pages up for products "under development". Even though none of those landing pages ended up becoming a product, it helped me to stop overthinking things.

As for evaluating whether or not an idea you have is worth pursing, the easiest way I have found is to just do your own take on an existing product/market.

  59. 1

Hi, my name's Gabriel and I'm an entrepreneur from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil :)
I'm currently working on a "hackable no-code tool for weak and rusty coders" and I here looking for guidance, feedback and hoping to share advice for my buddying indie hackers! :)

Our product is called Abstra, LMK if you have any feedback!

  60. 1

Hi guys. I work as a front-end developer. I like building side projects. I have built mobile games and apps. Due to working and studying it's hard to find the time for new side projects, but I'll try to pick one up soon

Hello! I decided to build a social network focusing on sharing positive things like: positive feedback on other people's strengths, beautiful memories, and connects people by common Goals applying Goal management techniques like OKR, Smart goals...
I am happy that our community can help me test the idea :D

  62. 1

Hi, I am a individual developer from China, currently working on my open-source project called Dictionariez. Nice to see you guys.

  63. 1

Hi folks. I've recently discovered this community. I used to work in sales for enterprise software. I have quit my job to pursue a side project to make exploratory analytics more intuitive with a touch and a pencil first approach. I'm currently working on building it into an MVP. I think I can learn a lot from this community.

    1. 2

Pretty cool idea! Did you learn how to code before diving into that? How are you going about it?

      1. 1

Yup, I can code somewhat. I'm working with a friend who has a technical background so that helps. We have broken the idea down into smaller modules and are trying to figure out how to connect the individual components to see if it works as intended before going full steam on building an MVP

        1. 1

What stack are you guys using? Is that a web app?

If you're feeling like you could speed things up, I could give you a 1:1 class on how to use Abstra (https://abstra.app) in exchange for feedback on how to improve our product. You can use it to build web MVPs with decent UIs without knowing CSS, host or plug a Postgres DB and deploy to AWS CDN very quickly! We target people like you two who can leverage their coding skills but don't want to write everything from scratch.

          1. 1

Its a native app. as of now there is no web component. Thanks, ill keep abstra in mind. btw the website looks slick :D

Hi everyone, I am Kim, and I tried to make a saas website. I was thinking of a marketing platform for people who make saas but do not know how to market them. I have made an keyword generator from bing and google, and a youtube influencer to contact youtubers. Anyways, good luck to you all.

Hello all! I'm a CS student attending a University and I really like Javascript and Python. I've spent a lot of my time studying Javascript and more recently React. It still feels like there is so much left to learn so, I figured I would look at some communities and see if I could get some help from others and even work on a project together. I'm excited to where we will all go!

  68. 1

    Hi there,
    Good luck everyone!

    Hi all,
I am currently working in a good company on mainframes but I don't like working on it personally, so I decided to learn something new and I have learnt JavaScript and it's framework, now I can feel myself as became a MERN stack developer and I am currently working on personal project which is a ticketing tool (generally used in corporates) and I will open source it soon.

Thanks for providing opportunity to speak.

Hi everyone! I'm Henn from Plantt, and our startup is an AI customer experience platform. I hope to read, learn and get some advice from the community. Keep up the good work! 💪

    Hey everyone,
Also someone that's very new here. I'm the current CEO of a logistics company and look to expand my horizons by developing an all around platform that enables simplified dynamic operations within our industry and enabling all-around data-analysis that small to mid-size business normally do not have access too. There's many "out of the box" solutions for our industry, but as an individual who has been apart of several $1B+ organizations and now running my own SMB within the industry - you can certainly see the lack of tools, processes, and data are limiting growth tremendously. I hope to incorporate a python-AI backend in-order to make attempts in identifying market shifts before they happen by incorporating self procured data and data that is currently available by 3rd party services. I also hope to streamline eliminating redundant connectivity/visibility that is currently being offered in our industry by 3rd parties at premium prices by eliminating lag and overall complications from the procedures with programming. I have NO educational background in programming, but am self taught since the age of 15 in the areas of PHP, Perl/CGI, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, VB, PowerQ, C, C#, C++ - having A BUNCH of side projects over the years for self use. I am finally putting my technical skills that I have self-acquired to use by starting this side project successfully about a month ago with ReactJS, MongoDB, Python, Node, and MobX (state management).

Hello! I am a developer based out of Toronto building technical tools with a designer. Excited to get a little more engaged in the community!
Quick question, does anyone have any resources or tools for validating an idea at an early stage, like a checklist or something? My partner and I tend to have so many ideas we think are interesting that we create our own choice fatigue haha.

    Hey 👋,

Hi I've been lurking around Indie Hackers for quite some time, but never posted anything.
I recently started outlining all the steps we've taken since the inception of our business, FlippedNormals https://flippednormals.com/.
I think it's amazing to see such an open and transparent community. I just want to share as much as I can and hopefully that inspires others and makes them aware that success is definitely an achievable.

Hi all! I'm Kimmo Ihanus. A full-stack web developer and marketer from Helsinki, Finland. I'm currently building a solution that enables companies and developers to make location-based services without privacy headaches.

The privacy benefit comes from a technology that uses neural networks directly on the user's browser or mobile device to detect the current location without passing sensitive location-data to 3rd parties (as traditionally happens).

Our first browser integration is in the BETA-testing phase, and I'm looking for developers to test it, so we can analyze and understand whether this approach creates value.

You can check out the JavaScript integration here:
    https://pointng.io

    And read more here:
    https://ihmissuti.medium.com/privacy-protected-gps-location-identification-with-machine-learning-f8d17dd4034a

This is my first "serious" product launch, and as I'm a self-learned developer, it feels almost scary to launch such a complex technology that needs to solve a straightforward problem. I'm hoping to hear comments and feedback from people with experience. So, I'm super glad to join indiehackers and always ready to chat, learn, and exchange ideas.

Hello, I've learned to build webapps (mainly with Django) as an entrepreneur, building a custom backend system, needed for my business. Since that's all up and running, there is time for me to finally play around again :-) I feel a strong urge to build more... I am totally in love with the process of building out functional ideas and currently I am tinkering on a new app idea. Hope to share it soon with this community.

  96. 1

    Hi,

I am new here. I am Sanjeed from India.

    Short Version:
Thank you @rosiesherry and the great community for being an inspiration.
University Student(not CS). First person to go the college from my family.
Know basics of coding. Don't know how to actually build something.
Here to learn how to build stuff and be inspired.
Looking forward to learning a lot from the amazing community!

    Long version:
Thank you @rosiesherry and the great community for being an inspiration.
Studying in University (Biomedical Engineering - yes, it's an interesting field, but I am not interested in it sadly).
I'm the first person to go the college from my family. And I was with minimal access to the internet and even good books until I was 18. And it also gave me this highly risk aversive behaviour and a tendency to try to plan the future a lot (both of which I'm trying to come out of) - because I really do want to make my parents happy.

I've always wanted to build things (thinking of making eyewear with screens when I was in 6th standard - and Google did it in a few years). I know basics of coding, but not enough to actually build a product. I've been putting off learning to build due to the academic stress and the other opportunities via University(like Management Consulting or Random Finance Job - which I don't think is a life I'd like - but hey high career growth if you grind it out is what I told myself).
I feared I would miss those opportunities if I focused on this (opportunity cost).

I heard about Product Management very recently. Started reading about it thanks to the lockdown. And over the past few months, on days when I'm sitting and browsing ProductHunt at 1AM or reading Lean Product Playbook at 2AM, I've felt that I love products and this is what I wanna do in the near future. I've finally decided to follow the heart too rather than just the brain.

    That's it for now.

So looking forward to learning a lot from this community and actually building something soon!

    1. 1

And my goal is to create a revenue-generating side project as soon as possible so that I can freely explore product instead of my major at university.

  97. 1

Hi, I've been doing software development since 1986 when I got my first computer. I only got serious about it 20 years ago though.

I'm tired of using my skills with the code for others and I am tired of applying my sense of what is good business to others. It is time to build something for myself!

I have tried and failed several times before, I have owned companies in the USA, Germany, Sweden, and been consulting all over the world.

  98. 1

Hi, I am Sarvesh Dubey, currently final year undergraduate in India. I am interested in startups and starting something of my own. I want to connect to all of you. Have coding experience in Python, JS, C++, Flask, Django, NodeJS, SQL, MongoDB, HTML, CSS, Tailwind, Machine Learning and learning each day to increase my stack.

  100. 1

Hello. I am a web developer and I joined here to learn how to create a sustainable product/service. Right now, I find it hard to come up with an idea and when I do, it already exists. I'm still starting and I hope to come up with a product by early 2021. My goal is to create a SaaS product that would help others. No idea of the product yet, just the idea of helping. It feels good when someone somewhere is using the product that you created.

  101. 1

Hi Everyone, I'm a full stack software engineer from the U.K.
Myself and small team have built a cloud-based collaboration tool for founders, bringing all the insights gathered through testing markets into one simple place to make building a venture simpler, faster, and more likely to succeed. Unlike other business tools, insights and outputs intelligently prepopulate analysis tools so founders can spend less time collating information and more time making informed strategic business decisions.

I'm here to meet some like-minded people and hopefully learn some things along the way. On another note, if anyone is interested in setting up a Beta account with us, please do reach out to me and I'd be happy to get you up and running.

  102. 1

Hi, I am here to learn and help others if possible....

  103. 1

    Hello,
I was given this link since my aspirations are to work as a digital nomad. I have been learning how to code on my own through outlets such as YouTube, free code camp, udemy, we schools as well as stack overflow. Currently I am well versed in html and css and working with javascript. I am here to learn the steps I need to take further to accomplish my goal. Any and all help is definately appreciated.

  104. 1

Hello! I only recently found out about indiehackers; such a great place!

I'm co-founder at Shotstack.io and hoping we can get some solid feedback on the product we've been building over the last year.

The Shotstack API enables video editing at scale. The API allows you to build videos using JSON, and use your favourite programming language to render hundreds to thousands of data-driven videos concurrently in the cloud.

Take a look and let me know what you think :)

  106. 1

Hey guys, looking forward to learning and sharing new ideas :)

  107. 1

Hi all! I'm a product manager who previously worked on a YC-backed marketplace, a high-volume e-commerce business, an API product , and had a failed attempt starting a chatbot company. My current role is a bit 9 to 5, satisfying in many ways, but limited room for tinkering & experimenting.

I wanna build something from concept to market, and have my eye on Slack & Microsoft Teams platforms.

Hoping to be inspired & getting to know interesting people!

  108. 1

Hey! One of my friend have recommended me so I have landed here. Having a good grasp in system design, devops, backend, frontend and for app development in react native. Tell me any tech stuffs, I know can buid it! Hoping to get good connections from this community.

    Have a great day guys!

Hey, I am Rodney. I am serial entrepreneur at heart, a growth hacker, an internet marketer and a No-Code enthusiast. I want to create stuff and share it with people so I hope I'll meet like minded people in this community and maybe collaborate on some projects.

    Thanks for having me.

PS: I speak French. It's kind of random but who knows ;)

    1. 1

Hi, I'm a No-Code enthusiast myself. May I ask what are you building and what tools you recommend?

      1. 1

        Hi,

Right now I am working on 2 apps. 1 is a web app, it's a translating dictionnary for kids to teach them african languages. You have words in english or french and their meaning in african languages. Through it children can learn other languages in a very fun a casual way I am using Airtable and the Divi site builder on WordPress.

The other app is a coupon generating app. it gives you Coupons based on your previous purchases and other criterias that I can't reveal right now :) . I haven't started build it yet but I'll do it on Bubble.

        Concerning the tools i recommand:

        • Bubble for web apps
        • Adalo for native apps Android and iOS
          -Airtable for database
        • Wordpress for websites with the Divi theme from Elegant themes. (I can't imagine a better website builder. I have heard of Webflow but I haven't tested it yet. I'll stick with Divi because coupled with WordPress and its huge market I don't see any competition on the horizon.)

What would be your suggestions and what tools are you working on?

        1. 1

Thanks for the detailed reply. Both projects sound pretty interesting. And yes Bubble seems like a good solution for the coupon app. I'm working with Bubble as well to build my MVP and I have the basic functionality down, but before I go any further I'm validating whether my idea is worth pursuing. For that, I'm using carrd for my landing page. Feel free to check it out at gauger.co if you want.
Another great no code tool that I discovered recently is backendless, they now have a UI Builder, so you could build everything, both backend and frontend, and it seems to be much more scalable than Bubble should the app start receiving tons of traffic. You should check that out.

          1. 1

            Thanks, I'll check it out.

Gauger seems like a good idea.

  121. 1

Hi! Came across Indie yesterday after looking for communities for startup builders. I had good success with a project I launched when bored at Uni a number of years ago (as with many, taught myself to code, best thing I ever did), then went away to do "actual job stuff", before more recently deciding I wanted to delve back into startup land.

Have a couple of projects I'm working on, and hoping to mingle with some like-minded people with complimentary skills who might be interested in teaming up on one of them. I've trodden the solopreneur path before, and may do again, but I like working with other people for inspiration and motivation.

    Glad to be here :)

Hi people. I am joining this community because I want to be able to say by next year that I have a side project which makes some money. I have 4+ years of experience working in the semiconductor industry solving computing problems and working on the cutting edge. The problem, of course, is that I think I have lost touch (or never had it in the first place) with normal product development. On top of that I have no experience, or indeed motivation, to learn web technologies. I feel boxed in and would love to partner up with someone to complement their strengths.

I've been doing web development either as a primary job or as a side hustle for over 20 years. I haven't done anything serious in the side hustle area for about 10 years due to family obligations. Now that my daughters are older, I have the time to devote to it again. My work primarily focused on small businesses and non-profits. Although I still might continue some of that, I'd like to focus more on creating a product or saas business so I'm not trading hours for dollars. I often think about something my boss (at my day job) told me once, "at your age, you should be trying to multiply yourself instead of dividing yourself". I'm happy to have found this community, and I'm looking forward to participating.

Hey man I just wanted to say good luck. I just found this community and it looks like the perfect place for technically capable entrepreneurs. What is the project if you don't mind me asking.

Hi Dom, I met a nun from Nigeria about 10 years ago when we were both getting our MBAs. I've been helping her out for years with various things. She was able to build and open a free medical clinic to serve the poor people in Nigeria. At the moment, I'm just thinking of something that would help me record and manage donations - essentially to make the stuff I'm already doing for her a little easier.

I'm a .NET Developer (C#) with 5+ years of front-end and back-end (more proficient) experience; this year I've been taking an ongoing learning curve into more technologies (TypeScript (over Angular)/Blazor/ML.NET/cloud (mainly Azure but also AWS)/and others) of which I'd like to utilise in partnering with others toward a goal of building something that allows me to be my own boss and plants the seed for future self-sustainability.
