Welcome to Indie Hackers! (Week of Jul 11th)

Channing here from Indie Hackers. Welcome! 👋

Here's how to get the most out your time here.

Make the community a better place

Indie Hackers is for connecting with like-minded people who want to build profitable online businesses.

To get the most out of the community, try helping to make it a better place. You can do that by starting and participating in interesting discussions.

If you start by giving, the community is designed to reward you in return.

How to start discussions

Head over to the home page and click the "New Post" button.

If there's something on your mind that you think will get people talking, simply type it out. The shorter the better. It helps if you ask a clear question in the title, or if you express your opinion.

Alternatively, if you read something elsewhere on the internet, you can start a discussion around that, too. Try submitting it as a link post. Indie hackers love discovering interesting new articles.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you need help submitting your first link post or starting your first discussion, let me know in the comments below.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see you the forum! Feel free to introduce yourself to everyone below. 🤗

    Hi all!👋
I've been lurking here and dreaming of creating my own product for quite some time now but never found the energy. I recently left my job and I'll be trying for a few months to work on an idea full time: modernize the terminal with web technology.

I have 10years experience in software engineering but nothing front-end related unfortunately so that's going to be a challenge! That, and building an audience ofc - i start from scratch.

A beginner question already :P i actually registered a long time ago but never posted and i see that i'm following 17 people, but i don't remember following anyone at all? is that expected? (Some are IH staff but not all)

Hello everyone! Nice to be here.
I am here to find out if this is the place I can find my Tech Co-Founder.
I am working out to make a FinLit app - small time, that I am eager to make bigtime.
My project is still a sketch now written in a small scratch paper --- but you can take a glimpse in this link --- https://bit.ly/yala_project --- take time to read, just about a minute or 2 of your time; and let me know what you think about it! :-)

Hey guys! I found out about IH a couple of weeks ago, and I got sucked in with all the amazing products and ideas people are developing. I'm a product designer and I'm starting a design consulting agency that approaches problems through research, empathy, and playfulness.

Let me know if you need help with anything design-related or just would like to bounce ideas!

Hi all! I'm hoping to meet like-minded individuals :) I've been lurking around for a year or two but never signed up. I'm also a first-time founder and just launched a mindful newsletter! I'm hoping to build a community for curious thinkers.

    Hello there,

Barna here, long-time lurker. I really love reading all the stories here, even those that hasn't exactly turned into overnight successes, there's always something to learn.

I'm a software engineer, mostly working with JavaScript both on the backend and frontend, but I've also been known to do some basic Python, DevOps and CI/CD stuff too. Recently I've taken up learning Haskell which I'm enjoying a ton.

I have a long time friend with whom we've been thinking of starting a business for quite some time. We're both very much into FP (Functional Programming) and our main idea atm is to translate our experience into a book format, perhaps with some additional screencasts to boot. There's also the option of a full video course but I'm not sure if we have the screen presence to pull that off, that remains to be seen. :D I personally have a couple of product ideas as well, most of which would be in the educational software space too.

For now, I'm very slowly trying to build up some sort of audience and put some, hopefully, genuinely helpful material out there in the process.

You can find me on medium (https://barna-molnar.medium.com/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/BarnabsMolnr2) if you're so inclined. Only the one article so far, but there are more ones planned, 2 of which are already in the works. We'll likely write about web development, JavaScript, React, Functional Programming principles, and maybe even some Haskell from a beginner's/learner's point of view.

Cheers, and good luck to you all.

    Hey everyone

I am in the process of starting a SaaS B2B content marketing Newsletter - really excited to learn, ask, develop and grow. I actually run the personal finance site https://www.lifeupswing.com/ and write a lot about side hustles and making money. So this could be a good opportunity to connect with anyone looking to contribute a guest post around the topic 'make money with Newsletters' - could also give me chance to tap into experts with experience and skills! Very excited...

    Hi all!
I'm trying to build an open sourced database of deeptech startups innovating the future at www.infinitiventures.io. As part of the project, I'd like to build/find a community of deeptech enthusiasts.

If you could provide suggestions on building a community or feedback on the website design, I'd really appreciate it.

Additionally, any resources on how to best leverage IH, which looks likes an amazing platform, would also be helpful. Thanks!

    Hello!

I'm Rick. I'm building this https://onceuponapancake.com, which is going well and now my FT work.

I've been a reclusive solopreneur for a while. The pandemic helped me realize how much joy there is building together/in-public. Big fan of IH, here for the camaraderie and the hacker spirit.

Hey y'all. I'm a software dev at a big tech company, looking to push myself to build something in my free time. I don't often participate in public forums, but hopefully by pushing myself out of my comfort zone I can find inspiration to build and ship something of my own!

    Compression socks

Compression socks, to remedy this, exert a controlled, decreasing pressure from the ankle towards the upper leg. This pushes the blood upwards and helps prevent edema or swelling and, where possible, venous thrombosis.
