Welcome to Indie Hackers! (Week of Mar 14th)

Channing here from Indie Hackers. Welcome! 👋

Here's how to get the most out your time here.

Make the community a better place

Indie Hackers is for connecting with like-minded people who want to build profitable online businesses.

To get the most out of the community, try helping to make it a better place. You can do that by starting and participating in interesting discussions.

If you start by giving, the community is designed to reward you in return.

How to start discussions

Head over to the home page and click the "New Post" button.

If there's something on your mind that you think will get people talking, simply type it out. The shorter the better. It helps if you ask a clear question in the title, or if you express your opinion.

Alternatively, if you read something elsewhere on the internet, you can start a discussion around that, too. Try submitting it as a link post. Indie hackers love discovering interesting new articles.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you need help submitting your first link post or starting your first discussion, let me know in the comments below.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see you the forum! Feel free to introduce yourself to everyone below. 🤗

Hey, here is Dirk from Germany working on algoly.com and other things on the side. I love connecting the dots through data to solve micro problems :) Looking forward diving into the community

    Hi folks,

I am Naren, and I'm on a journey to become a software engineer. I have taught myself how to code and now I have realised that the best way one can learn to build products is to actually build one that adds value to other people. Naturally I had to join this community which is centred around building online products/businesses. I do hope to check out what y'all are making and hope to soon share with you what I will be working on too.

  4. 3

Howdy? I'm Finn. Excited to join the community. I run marketing for a software company from 9-5. On the side, I am a passionate Mountain Ultra Trail runner and my current project is a website that organizes all the information about the most popular races in our sport that people need to prepare adequately. Everything from race reports to lodging and restaurants to coaching tips, etc. Think of it like the nomadlist for trail running. I'd love feedback if anyone here happens to be a fellow runner, in addition to indie hacker!

Hi! I’m Jeff. I’m a software engineer who’s worked in big tech companies, startups, and as a consultant for all kinds of companies. Along the way, I’ve always been working on some side projects of my own.

My current project is a web-app (iOS app in the works) for sharing referral codes with your friends called ReferCodes. I wanted a single place to put all my referral codes so my friends could find them when they needed them and so I didn’t have to spam friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc.

It’s been going well and communities like Indie Hackers, as well as the Indie Hackers podcast, have been helpful for inspiration and figuring out what to work on next. I’d love any feedback if anyone wants to check it out. Thanks! Glad to be here.

  6. 2

Hi everyone, I'm Max! I'm still working towards my business degree but just got started with freelance work and am excited to launch my own side projects soon!

Currently I'm working on the Algoly data stream builder, a tool that allows developers and entrepreneurs to seamlessly integrate geolocation data into their programs.

Excited to meet you all and learn & grow together!

I've lurked around for a while and I have questions. Also i don't know anyone in real life that understands building online businesses. Why not learn from people on the internet?

  11. 2

Hi! I'm Xia (not my real name obviously) I'm interested in setting up a social media marketing business that will allow me to help my clients effectively communicate their message to their target audience and grow their business. I want it to be a social enterprise - I would like to fulfil my clients' needs but my main goal is to make a difference in the world, by helping the right people (who have the same goal as me) reach their audience. I'm young and afraid but I don't want to wait to make a difference. I have been involved in a lot of volunteer work, designing flyers etc. mainly stuff that has allowed me to use my knowledge and passion for art, colours and creativity to design products that effectively communicate messages. To successfully set up my business, I need all the help I can get.

Look forward to getting to know some amazing and smart people on here!

Hi all, happy to join, here's my story:

I've been harnessing the power communities for business and other purpose-driven organizations since 2002. I worked with small businesses and also some of the largest companies such as Rebull as a Student Brand Manager, at KPMG in the strategic management consulting team, and at Wework helping them launch in one of their most challenging locations, Beer-Sheva, transforming it to one of the most surprising successes and strongest communities. Almost every business he touched he found groups and networks and cultivated them without always understanding what he was doing had a name, I just saw it as part of the business development, customer relations and being a good team member.

In 2017, something happened that changed my life, he took part in a Burning Man regional event and was blown away by the power of community. The power that doesn’t engage individuals and helps network faster but creates real value to the world in many ways.

I asked to reduce my position as a Director of Business Development and Community at a large service provider of financial services for startups, to a part-time capacity so he can focus on learning more on Professional Community Management.

I traveled across the world meeting community managers from the best companies and organizations and gathering together relevant case studies and creating new tools and frameworks for community managers. In 2017 I co-founded the IS-CL Summit (International Startup Community Leaders Summit) the event that brought together 500 startup community and ecosystem leaders from over 50 countries! The event spawned his community agency, IS-CL (AKA; The IS-CL Network) a decentralized community agency working with companies and organizations around the world. The third summit was in November 2020.

Today I give workshops around the world and with my team and colleagues help many organizations harness the power of strategic communities and build new communities where there are strategic needs and value for all potential members of the community.

    Hey guys,

I'm a Growth Marketer with expertise in Cold Outreach. I've helped several B2B companies book meetings with potential buyers and nailed down the process to a science.

I'm now focusing on uncovering other uses for Cold Outreach (outside of just getting clients) such as reaching out to get backlinks (SEO), for PR, to raise funds, to hire candidates...

I'm projecting of putting my knowledge into a short course or e-book but in the meantime, I started curating the best resources I found on Cold Outreach here: https://www.coldiq.com/roadmap

This is still a work in progress and I've taken inspiration from the SEO Roadmap (learningseo) curated by Aleyda Solis. I'm still operating changes on it so as to not have my roadmap be a simple copycat. Thus, stay tuned and please let me know about the best articles you've read on the subject as well :)

Hi to all! My name is Branko and I immigrated from Serbia to the US ~13 years ago. I graduated from Yale and worked for 8 years in consulting (McKinsey) where I consistently experienced the joy of 80-90 hour wks.

As soon as I got my green card, I quit cold and joined an early stage accelerator called Antler where I worked on 4-5 projects in 2020 (testing different teams + ideas). I was expecting more mentorship (did not happen) but found a great community of founders.

During ~9 months of testing different projects, I experienced a lot of pain points on the technology side as a non-technical founder with a consulting skill set (e.g., what should have taken week(s) took months and I did not have the skills to quickly iterate through landing pages and build compelling MVPs).

This was compounded by the fact that I was parallel processing customer discovery interviews and search for a technical co-founder. I wish I just invested time in building my skillset. As I partnered with my current co-founder (ex-CTO and CEO of a Series B start-up) we decided to focus our mission on empowering non-technical leaders with the technical skills they need to realize their visions. We are currently running EpiSchool where we help our members build the right skills to launch projects quickly.

I'd be happy to connect with members of the community, share experiences and help anyone looking to ramp up technical skills!

Eventually I had concern about how much time the process would take since it was an online application…Trust me no risk factor involved.
And was amazed to know how fast this process was. Have you been online for a while now looking for a professional hacker who basically hacks into anything such as upgrade of school grades, erasing of criminal records, fixing and uplifting of credit scores etc) I would highly recommend you to their services. The process was quick and efficient.
I am presenting you with what I like to call a lifetime opportunity of meeting the master crackers. We all don’t have the chance to come across them but if you are reading this right now, here is your chance.

This app overlays onto your website you are developing and is super easy for your clients to give pin point feedback and annotate/add comments and give their feedback, so you can complete your work faster and to the best standard. Would really appreciate feedback on this idea, and whether it is something you’d use, our website is https://www.usemarky.io/
