Welcome to Indie Hackers! (Week of Mar 21st)

Channing here from Indie Hackers. Welcome! 👋

Here's how to get the most out your time here.

Make the community a better place

Indie Hackers is for connecting with like-minded people who want to build profitable online businesses.

To get the most out of the community, try helping to make it a better place. You can do that by starting and participating in interesting discussions.

If you start by giving, the community is designed to reward you in return.

How to start discussions

Head over to the home page and click the "New Post" button.

If there's something on your mind that you think will get people talking, simply type it out. The shorter the better. It helps if you ask a clear question in the title, or if you express your opinion.

Alternatively, if you read something elsewhere on the internet, you can start a discussion around that, too. Try submitting it as a link post. Indie hackers love discovering interesting new articles.

Good luck!

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you need help submitting your first link post or starting your first discussion, let me know in the comments below.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see you the forum! Feel free to introduce yourself to everyone below. 🤗

    Hi🤗
    Found this while researching divjoy.
I'm a software engineer and sometimes I get stuck when attempting a side project, I run out of ideas and sometimes get demotivated.
Excited to see how this platform will push me out of my comfort zone

I left my job 3 months ago. Rather than look for a new job I had an idea to pursue something I had in mind for the craft beer industry. My research now shows that my idea (or any reasonable modification of that idea) will not work. Now I am here looking for inspiration; debating whether I should get a job or pursue a new path.

    1. 1

Hey👋 As much as I or anyone else on this platform can’t wait to see the things that you can build, I think it’s wise to look for another job to support yourself while working on your thing(s). Building good things takes time, and we all need to eat. :)

Things you do on your job can also inspire you for new ideas. So that’s another big plus of having a job. :)

      1. 1

Solid advice - I appreciate your comment!

Hi, I'm Ebonique. I just want to buy fine art, but I'm middle class without the additional resources that would make me more comfortable with such a high purchase. My sister and I are working on building an app to help make it easy.

I want the app to officially launch in closed beta by the end of the month on BOTH Android and iOS. I want the closed beta launch to be great and to send many referrals to our B2B partner and to re-start the ads. I want the ads to continue to be high-performing and low cost. I hope to close 50 referrals in April 2021 and renegotiate the lead rate with our B2B partner. I then want to accelerate our ad spend, so that we quickly get to $10K per month in revenue from just our B2B partner alone. I then want to skip fundraising altogether and just pay for the development cost for the next iteration of the app with revenue only.

I want the whole company to be based on good people working together to set good goals for ourselves and the rest of the world. I want it to continue to be easy because everyone is just working on creating opportunities for themselves. I don't want to be a brag company. I don't want to have to brag about stuff, I just want it to be a platform that just works without any big promotional or partnerships or anything splashy.

Although, I would love a budget for some audio production so that I can continue to make podcasts without editing them myself. I love talking to artists and learning more about their needs. I can't wait to make a living updating an app that is made to support artists by some basic bitches who just want to buy their stuff.

    Obligatory self-promotional link: https://www.budgetcollector.org/

Is there a community for successful serial entrepreneurs (folks who have been bootstrapped and VC-backed) who have had at least 2 meaningful ($10-100m+) exits? I think there are "seasoned" founders who want to help and give back to the community. I'd love to find out.

    1. 1

I second this! I'm in the process of growing my business and am starting to look for an exit plan!

Hi, I am Apoorv. I just graduated from my undergrad. I like building products.

    Dear Indie Hackers,
my name is Marta and I come from Poland, but live in Germany.
After 7 years as an industry developer I decided to create a product myself. I develop an app for networking and matchmaking at events. I actually look for supporters especially a developer for the backend of the app.
Happy to be a part of the community!

It is way more better to be a cheetah's brain than that of being a lion's tail!!! Likewise it's better being a #proindie than working for some other's idea!!!...

I finally made the jump from indie lurker to indie hacker. Excited to be here!

I'm in search of a technical co-founder for a concept I've been developing over the last few months in healthcare. I work in the industry and see a serious consumer-facing gap. I'm the business side looking for my other half on the development side who excels in python, django and website design. Let's make a change!

Hi, I'm Anutham. Mostly a backend developer, but I like to dive into DevOps every now and then. I landed here through a person I met on lunchclub.ai - Its a good platform to meet the kind of people you want to work with - sometimes it helps.
I'm an aspiring entrepreneur confused between a couple of ideas.

Hi everyone 👋 My name is Nikita and I’m a software dev in London🇬🇧 (mostly front-end, but lately I’ve been working with some back-end stuff as well).

I’ve been lurking on IndieHackers for a while now, just reading posts, watching other people build things. And now I thought I should become more active here. Got some ideas that I’d like to bring to life, and will share thoughts with y’all on how all of it will be going on.

I’m also looking forward to support y’all here more actively as well with kind words and all sorts of info and knowledge if that’d be the case.🙃

Feel free to find me on social media, incl. GitHub. All the links are on my site 🙌https://sniki.dev
