We're #6 on Product Hunt today...here's what we got wrong!

Launching on PH can be huge for the success of your micro-SaaS. It's not over yet, but we're a little stuck in the middle of the pack.

I thought it'd be helpful to share some things we got wrong...and right on launch day.

Things we got wrong:

  1. PH algorithm cares more about seasoned accounts upvoting your project than new ones. Build an audience of PH users before you launch.
  2. We should have started manual Li outreach at 12:01 so that it was the first message people saw in the morning
  3. Building events on Facebook and Linkedin a month or so before the actual event could've helped us get an early push ahead of the competition.

Things we got right:

  1. We had someone notable with a larger following Hunt our project.
  2. We had broad distribution early in the day to our userbase
  3. We've found a great tool to help automate Li outreach to 1st-degree connections. (this appears to be the best source of upvotes so far)

Check back in at the end of the day to see where we end up. And throw some support our way when you check out the listing page.

Nice writeup! By "manual LI outreach", do you mean just going through your connections and manually DMing all of them? Do you use some sort of automated outreach system?
