Wes Bos made six figures today! πŸ’Έ

Wes Bos sold 3,000 copies of his new $44.50 beginner Javascript course today! 😲

3,000*$44.50 = $133,500 πŸ€‘

(this is a rough estimate as the Masters package costs $69.50 but it's unclear how many bought that or the cheaper option)

Stay indie, people!

I think we can learn from this the benefits of selling courses directly rather than through Udemy (and of having a large enough audience to be able to do that in the first place!)

I interviewed Wes Bos earlier this year and I'm still bowled over by the fact this guy is self-taught! https://www.nocsdegree.com/wes-bos-talks-learning-to-code-without-a-cs-degree/

You are missing that people in India and third-world countries would have used the PPP price which is significantly less than the normal price. :)

But yeah, I still think he should have grossed over $100k. And he had the sale on all other courses as well, the launch of beginner JS just coincided with BlackFriday.

I am guessing its $200k or more going by his last email where he said BF provides a good chunk of his yearly income.

True! Although he has a more expensive course as well so it probably balances out.

Still think six figures in a day is cray cray

It's done well! PPP country discounts, student discounts, team licenses, coupons make up a lot of the sales, so it's not as good as it looks, but still, I'm not complaining.

This was a bit of a gamble to spend a year on developing a course β€” but it's paying off :)

Fancy seeing you here, haha! Congrats!

    And well deserved too :)

His courses are a great value at that price

Sure, it's just incredible the power of audience + premium prices can do for an indie maker!

I bought his recent course for $21 (52% geographical discount applied)

wow, nice discount! It's good he is applying that.

He's a nice dude. His free courses (30 js, flexbox and grid) are utterly awesome.

Yeah Wes kills it, but totally worth every penny of his courses.

Absolutely. I had a course in my Politics degree about free markets. The book had a very old example of Wilt Chamberlain and the idea that if 100,000 turn up to watch him play and all pay $10 and he makes a million from people voluntarily attending, is that ok or not. (in terms of income inequality etc)

So this is a modern update!

That's amazing. @petecodes how did you get his interview on nocsdegree?
