We've updated brand for our startup studio. It's hot ๐ŸŒถ

Let's start from the logo.

Feels familiar, huh?

We believe that every company is a media company.

So we used the orange box for the second part of the word so people associate us with media.

Just like YouTube or LinkedIn.

Our main motto is "Do It In Public" ๐Ÿ’ฅ

We believe that building in public is the best way to:

โ€ข Gain early traction

So we #buildinpublic hard
inpublic

We admire indie-hacking community and learn from it daily.

Our goal is to make everyone from our team + our partners and clients the owners of their own startups.

Resourceful mindset is paramount to build a strong startup studio.

Prove traction alone and show skin in the game!

Know these guys who keep giving advice about the things they know nothing about?

We want to be completely different!

That's why we're running our own startups, communities and invest into risky experiments.

We eat our own dog food and share our journey. So you can learn too.

And that's it!

We are on a mission to make build in public as common as open source.

How does it look? ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Thank you! We're testing the boundaries ๐Ÿ˜

        Really diggin that logo font.

      2. 2

It def catches the attention, makes you do a double take, then raises a bit of curiosity.

        1. 1

          nice, pattern intterupt!

The logo feels a bit (a bit more..) PornHub-ish. With the motto next to it, it basically reads 'sex in public'. Sorry, couldn't help it!

    1. 1

why y'all are so dirty ๐Ÿ˜

      1. 2

        Because itยดs true. Face it!

        1. 1

          I'm facing it!

Its weird and too close to pornhub imo especially with the sexual innuendo. Its also feels weird how you word the vision of the company so serious when it seems like the tone should be more humourous and silly. Idk just my 2 cents.

Hey Bedo! You are correct, that's the marketing experiment to spread the message about building in public.

  3. 1

Your new identity has quite a lot of disconnects throughout the brand experience. I know it's at start-up phase, but there's a few things that could improve the visual identity.

    • Develop out a brand language for a better branded experience
    • Have typography that matches the look and feel of your identity (and consistent throughout your comms).
    • A unique colour palette - I agree that it's too PornHub-ish

I'm a brand strategist, but even by looking at this I'm asking:

    • What is it ParaLect does?
    • Is it going to give me value?
    • Why should I invest in it?

These are what I'd say would improve your brand. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the brand mark isn't strong and it does resemble other bigger brands, even mentioning YouTube and LinkedIn as references really doesn't help the case study as we now know there isn't much creative insight.

I'm sure you have a very good strategy to go forward, but your brand isn't just your logo. That should symbolise the passions, drive and purposeful meaning of why you exist.

    Hope that helps?

      hey Cal!

I need to clarify that this post is partly joke/marketing experiment

we wanted to spread our message about "building in public" this way

one of our mottos is our business is change.

so that's how we presented the "change"

thank you for your review though!

      1. 1

Well I've read what you guys do, because I'm interested and your execution through bold text does reflect your boldness and your encouragement of others to be bold and to do it publicly. However, my points were that, aesthetically, the brand mark doesn't really align with that, nor does the branding (lack of).

Having a rebrand or a new logo doesn't just symbolise "change" it's got to mean it on more touch points.

Also, I'm giving feedback on ways you can reflect, since you say "start small get feedback" - I don't joke about things like that โ˜บ๏ธ

        1. 1

          Thank you Cal!

We're going to change the branding in a few days, that's where the change is!

But I got your point that we could also emphasize the message with branding elements to translate our message!

          Appreciate it!

Dude... this is NOT related to YouTube or LinkedIn! This is pure PornHub! So donยดt try to kid yourself.

    1. 1

If you are trying to have big balls, then mean it and stand up to it.

        This is called Marketing! :)

You'd want to assert your right to say that first, my little man. Otherwise, it reads like you're a faceless, pissed-off loser.
