WhaleTrack growth update: what's working, what flopped, and why I just went all-in on YouTube

Two months ago I posted about building WhaleTrack — a free tool to track Polymarket whale bets in real time.

Here's an honest update on what's actually happened since.

What worked:

  • Twitter/X — posting whale alerts with screenshots gets consistent engagement from the Polymarket community. This drove most of my early traffic.
  • Telegram — built a premium alerts channel. Real-time notifications the moment a whale places a bet. Getting first paying subscribers now.
  • Stripe auto-onboarding — spent time making this seamless. Subscriber pays → instant Telegram invite link → welcome email. Fully automated.

What flopped:

  • Reddit — 9 karma. Enough said. Posts get auto-removed before anyone sees them.
  • Cold outreach — DMing Polymarket traders to try the tool. Almost zero response rate.

The new bet — YouTube:
Just published my first video. Faceless, AI voiceover, real website screenshots as background. Took about a day to build the whole pipeline (edge-tts + moviepy + Ken Burns effect on the screenshots).

The idea: most people googling "how to track Polymarket whales" are going to YouTube, not Google. SEO takes months. YouTube can surface you in days if the content is right.

Honest numbers:

  • Free tracker: live at whaletrack.app
  • Premium Telegram: first subscribers in
  • YouTube: 1 video, just published
  • Reddit: 9 karma (sending thoughts and prayers)

Still very early. Would love advice from anyone who's grown a niche finance/trading tool — especially on what actually converts free users to paid.
