What app do you use for email marketing any why?

Pros

1. They are the cheapest. that's their USP

2. Just does emails. Mailchimp is bloated. i find Email Octopus far easier to navigate and set things up. there's far less going on ...

Cons

1. if you're looking for some super technical segmentation stuff, it may not be right.
2. currently goes through Amazon SES. this means there's about 15 mins of setup. But all well documented and simple

I'm on MailChimp and in the process of moving to ConvertKit because it's targeted so much better at online course/membership site creators like me.

I've used various providers over the last few years, including (in order that I used them):

• Constant Contact. It's been so long since I used them that I think they are totally different now
• Convert Kit. This is favoured by many bloggers because of its intuitive UI, and a big differentiator (at least at first) was that pricing was based on number of contacts rather than email sends. The segmentation and auto-responder series functionality was also very good. It seemed a good deal for a lower number of subscribers for us.
• Sendy/Easy Sendy. We went through a period of trying the cheapest available platform. Sendy lets you use AWS to send your emails, and provides the platform. It works out a good deal cheaper than pretty much everything else, but provides much more limited functionality and requires a lot more time and resource on your end.
• We now have migrated to Send in Blue. They're not a big name, and I'm not sure why. They are very good value, but the platform feels premium and has a solid team behind it. They offered all the functionality we needed (auto-responder, tagging, behavioural/triggered email, multiple send logic, etc), and have a decent API. That's our current pick!
