What are some tips to get re-energized after work?

After work, my brain is toast. It's hard to find motivation to work on something afterwork. Indie hackers, do you have any tips to increase/reset your brain after the clock hits 5 PM?

I've found going for a walk helps tremendously. But I'm curious to know what other tips and trick you all have.

Thanks.

A better idea is waking up earlier and doing side projects in the morning rather than the evening.

      I second this.

If you want to make your side hustle into a viable full-time business someday, you should consider spending your best hours doing it.

I like the 4-Hour Work week approach to making yourself look more efficient at your day job so that you can spend more time on your side project.

I would say working on something that deeply drives and motivates you. I mostly work on projects I think about first thing in the morning. If I don't wake up with an urge to work on a specific project, I mostly let that project go within a couple of days. Maybe not the most efficient way to work on stuff, but it keeps me sane.

      Totally agree with you!

    Some ideas:

1 - do exercise daily to keep the motivation going
2 - eat healthily, low alcohol
3 - quit your job and do freelance for a while so you can work fewer hours
4 - but in general, working after work should not feel like work, you should do passion projects, things that excite you, are you sure you are working on the right things?

I hope this helps somehow, good luck

All good points, but I disagree with the last one. I think you can have a lack of motivation to do even the things you are super passionate about, especially if you don't have 1 & 2 checked or you have things that occupy your mind.

      Thanks. I like advice 3 & 4. I'll have to re-evaluate.

    Hey Byung,

It's totally normal to feel toasted after a long day at work. I have a busy schedule as well as I am a university student and an athlete. Going for walks is a really good idea to reset your brain but however, here are some extra tips that may help.

1- Diet, make sure you eat healthy and a balanced diet with all the nutrients the body needs. and also from a personal evaluation try to take a multivitamin pill. It's been almost 2 months since I have started taking the multivitamin pill and I have to say I feel really healthy and fresh throughout the day.

2- sufficient amounts of sleep, make sure you have enough sleep on a stretch for at least 7 to 9 hours, by having sufficient sleep ur body will feel more fresh and active which will make it easier for you to do your work after "5 pm".

3- Daily excessive will also help you reset your brain and release stress, make sure you do a workout for at least one hour a day, this would be better if it's in a gym or outside of your house. also, it would motivate you a lot if you have a workout partner with you.

These are the steps I follow daily and it has worked tremendously.
Good luck and all the Best

      Hey JayaruPerera,

The things u said are indeed very helpful and regarding the multivitamin pills ?is it healthy and does it have any other side effects ?

        GoodDay Zingho,

There are various types of multivitamins but the ones I take have minimal side effects almost no side effects at least for me. Try buying opti-men if your a male or opti-women if your a Female they have made 2 different products for multivitamin for both genders not sure why but I can definitely do some research and let you know about it. Also, feel free to email me at Jayaru2000@gmail.com , I would be happy to help u out further.

        1. 1

I have used Opti-men once and I had terrible Gas issues and stomach burn.

            Good Day Mate,

That's odd cause optimum has really good reviews and it is recommended by almost every fitness guru I have seen, however not all bodies are the same. did u take it on an empty stomach? and how many times did u take?

If you're married - The best thing to do is to Play with your kids. Indulge with them when they're studying. Go through their textbooks. Ask them questions and see their reactions, that'll make you energized. This may sound silly to some but it helps. It connects you well with your kids and keeps you energized after work.

If you're single - Help your mother/ sister in their household work. Arranging beds, cleaning utensils, helping them cook. Any sort of assistance would help.

The idea is to take a break from your regular job which ends up energizing you.

Flipping it the other way around works very well for me. Instead of working on that something after work, I work on it early in the morning before my full-time job starts.
