What are the best tips to launch an online course?

It depends on what type of courses you'd like to launch. Is it a self-paced course or a live course? What medium will you use? Video? Email? Mix? Are you going to record the video? or will it be a live session?

It's not that different when creating or building a product.

Here are some tips:

• ask your audience what they are eager to learn
• pick the top topics then chunk them into 5-10 sessions
• make the course simple to understand and engaging
• try it with a small number of people, ask for their feedback
• and since he wants to teach photography, add action items and challenges

IMO, the duty of an instructor doesn't end after producing all the content. Your friend should give importance to what happened to his students after they take his course. Did they use their acquired skills after taking the course? Did they earn money? Did they improve? etc.

If you don't have an audience, get even at least 10 friends who'd like to learn photography as a hobby then try your course design with them :)
