I'm interested in what you all are using that in your opinion really moves the needle. What do you use it for? What did you do before you found it? How did you find it?
Thanks in advance.
Trello - really helps me keep my work and to-dos organized
Netlify - makes it so easy to host landing pages or static sites and get them up and running ASAP
Evernote - for general note taking
SmartLook/FullStory - you can see exactly how users interact with your website, can get really valuable insights with this tool
Spotify - absolutely need music to work
Stripe. If it weren't for Stripe I'd still be making the odd dollar on Steam or the iOS App Store; with Stripe, I can turn my enterprise-day-job-honed engineering skills into actual, marketable products that are small enough that I can build and run them alone. If I had to use a more complex processor (hello, PayPal) I suspect just handling payments would take up all of my time (and enthusiasm), leaving me nothing left to pour into the actual side project.
So yeah. <3 Stripe, so much.
JetBrains WebStorm & PHPStorm, I wish I switched to them from Sublime way earlier, awesome IDEs. Asana for task management, Trello for planning. +1 to Github, Netlify. DO & Scaleway for production hosting.
I use GitHub + ZenHub for dev and product management. I'm really loving ZenHub.
+1 for Zenhub. We previously used Pivotal, which was okay, but now I can't imagine using a PM tool that doesn't employ native GitHub Issues and PRs for its stories.
ZenHub integrates nicely into GitHub, has all of the features I want (fibonacci estimates, epics) and very little fat. Highly recommended.
Trello for project management
I honestly don't know how I did anything before it
Job used it, I liked it, they stopped using it, now I use it.
My business Whiskey Clothing (www.facebook.com/whiskeyclothing) runs with the following tools:
1 - Chatfuel: Most of my existing customers and new visitors to our facebook page have the same generic questions "What time does the store open? Address? Prices?" All replies are automated with this AI chatbot :)
2 - Typeform: Very useful for collecting customer feedback, or asking questions to customers before launching a new product.
3 - Gramdominator: Just setup the targeted hashtags and keywords and boom - see your Instagram grow massively in an organic way. This tool is developed by a friend.
Trello, bitballoon, the whole Google Suite, a good code editor, a twitter account, and an internet connection ;)
About all you need!
GitHub - can't imagine life without it.
ZenHub - agile PM built right into GH.
Slack - we're a distributed team and building a company culture around Slack has been a game changer.
HelpScout - Big fan. Presents itself as simple email to the customer. (No "your ticket number is X", or "do not write below this line" noise.)
Buffer - for scheduling social media posts.
QuickBooks online - easy invoicing for my team, pretty frictionless online payments for my customers, and it's what your accountant prefers anyway ;)
Bill.com - not perfect, but a solid and low-friction way to get contractors paid.
