This thread is for those who are still in the process of creating something meaningful.
I personally feel like I still need to rewire my brain to prioritize more important things.
My current challenge is a better understanding of who do I speak too, who do I build a product for, or who am I connecting too.
As I write this I believe I am talking about empathy. :)
What's yours?
I have trouble doing product/idea validation because it exposes me to feedback, which can potentially be demoralizing. It's much easier to code up a product because you know the exact steps you need to reach that end point.
Very nicely put self-observation.
Do you have a Twitter?
Changing projects too fast / too often.
After a year of leaving a project I often look back at it and I am like "damn, if I worked more on it, it really might have worked out".
Do you have a personal rule of thumb now for that scenario?
I really don't. I am running a project now for 3 months and I already think of switching.
That's the problem with startups - you really can't tell when is a good moment to quit. Next day after quitting you might have gone viral and get 10 000 users.
On the other hand you can work 10 years on a project and never successfully monetize it in any way.
I am recently trying to focus more on talking with my users to get a feel of how engaged they really are and what should I focus on next.
If you're talking about synthesizing a gut feel from feedback through empathy — I believe in that.
I am actually trying to be more proof / science - based, but I think it will just end up with gut feeling.
"After talking to 10 of my users, I FEEL this is the correct approach".
Is there any way you can back up your idea with measurements?
Well that's exactly what I am trying to figure out currently. :)
I am thinking more and more about making some kind of up-sell - kickstarter or something in that style.
I am kind of sick of making stuff that nobody uses.
Oh, yeah. Feeling you.
Good luck, man.
