What are the problems with pre-designed landing page templates?

My own experience:

1. It's hard to find a totally suitable template with the structure I need. Almost always, I'm forced to fit my landing page concept up to the chosen template.

2. It's tough to find media assets as beautiful as on the template. I mean interface screenshots, interface mockups, illustrations, pictures that are on the template. It wastes a tremendous amount of time. Often, I'm forced to create them from scratch.

3. When I change media assets to my own, the landing page doesn't look as beautiful.

4. And when I change the copywriting to my own, the landing page looks totally different.

What about you? What's the problem with ready-made landing page templates for you?

The fact that they're handcrafted, and not feel like they can easily be customizeable, i.e. they don't provide you with the PSD files for the images so you can't modify a preview container..

The fact that if you need to create a new page that's a bit different, it will never look like it's on brand with the rest of the site.

      I totally agree!

Yes, you are right. Where are you creating the landing pages?
I don't like to see the website builders promote how easy it is when the reality is that the template only works for that example itself.
That being said I think when one is a designer, has a different eye and can make it look beautiful no matter what.
I was and still am quite surprised by carrd.co . I think they do a great job and you can make a landing page that is pretty even that you change many things.

Normally I go search for inspiration In many websites before I start :D

Hi, Ricardo. I tried WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Super, and Carrd. And yeah, Carrd is really simple. And I go search for inspiration In many landing pages before I start too.

You nailed it with the media assets. Most every template has a place holder for a hand drawn, company specific hero image. It's very hard to get around that.
