What are the tried and proven ways to introduce a new software product?
I have a software product which me and my friend is working on. The product/service is not complete as of now. Can someone tell me what are some of the best ways to get some audience/users for the product. By getting users, i mean how can I let people know that such a product exists.
Proven ways are usually ways done by thousands of other indie founders at the same time. I'm following some of them and some are a complete waste of time, whereas some generate slight traffic. Here is my list of checklists:

I depends. Is it a alternative to some existing product? Then sites like alternative.to can be a way to get some users.
Of course hackers news and Reddit work for feedback well too.
