What are you working on?

So a little background before I get into the main question behind this post.

I'm Neo, currently building a newsletter called Unheard Roots where I share the stories & strategies behind the early days of game changing startups.

I know there a lot of sh*t posters on Indie Hackers but for those of you that are building an actual startup, have some traction, and want to put your story out there.

I'd love to do a feature on you, I've got an audience of 800+ entrepreneurs, startups employees, and VCs / Investors across the board that would be seeing your story.

We would talk about how you got into startups / business, how you decided to build your current venture, and the stories & strategies from the early days (growth, building the product, fundraising, etc).

Just comment under this post and tell me about yourself & your startup.I promise I will reply to each and every serious comment.

I’m currently thinking a lot about backend orchestration for long‑running multi‑step flows where failures/retries and pause/resume matter a lot. It’s one of those things that feels trivial in demos but gets messy under real conditions. Curious how others are designing their backends for resilience and observability.

Hi, we are currently working on Wope, which we think will make an impact.

Wope is a smart marketing assistant that aims to give smart suggestions for the right content to meet the right people in search engines, which are the only exit points for people to reach the right information.

As a product born out of an agency that has been serving for about 10 years, we aim to differentiate ourselves from our competitors by integrating the process of 'combining their own experiences' directly into the product. In short: while our competitors provide data for consultants, we aim to offer consultancy to people through this product by having this data directly.

If you want to see more, you can browse our website: wope.com

    Awesome @neo!!!

I'm working on jobleads . io, (apparently not allowed to share URL). We focus on using jobdata from all major jobboards as a way of doing outreach. We pair this data with key decisionmakers so you can do your outreach to the person you want with the intent data that really matters: When someone has a problem that they want fixed (the joblisting).

If you want, feel free to reach out, I'll gladly tell you more :)

A full-fledged alternative to the large social media giants. We focus on providing useful features for content creators, community contribution to changes on the platform, and bringing that "old school" social media feel back that we have lost.

Interesting. Looks like we have a slightly similar concept.

      1. 1

nteresting. It's great to connect with someone working on a similar concept! We'd love to learn more about your project and the unique differentiators that set it apart. What are the key features or aspects that differentiate your platform from ListyBee?

        1. 1

I just tried Listybee, and I can see that Listybee is more focused on personal items. I run Favird (https://favird.com), which is more focused on resources. For example I collect AI tools to stay up to date on the AI movement, and it also allows submissions from others.

I’m currently working on Binamite, a crypto-fiat payment platform that offers the flexibility to get paid in a mix of crypto and fiat, with seamless payouts to bank accounts and wallet addresses.

When we started building Binamite, we wanted to make it easier to pay our employees in crypto. As we spoke to people about it, we realized we weren’t the only ones who needed this solution.

Today, Binamite is about so much more than paying employees. It’s a way to send money across permissionless blockchains without ever having to buy a cryptocurrency. It’s a way to use crypto to pay for services billed in fiat without having to sell your tokens. Binamite lets you use crypto as currency.

A payer can pay using crypto or fiat, regardless of how the payee chooses to receive their payment. You can use our invoicing or payment request feature to get paid in your choice of crypto-fiat mix!

Not long ago, Binamite finally launched in beta. We aren’t at a stage where crypto payments are totally invisible just yet, but with Binamite we are getting a lot closer. We’re continually adding features by the day, so do check out binamite.com if you have the time.

Honestly? Right now I'm working on myself. My latest startup pretty much failed, because I misjudged the effort required to find customers. I need to work on having an audience on social media and come up with a formula to find projects to work on with more predictable outcomes.

Can I dm you? I think I got an interesting idea for an AI powered SaaS after a deep market research.

        Sure, DM me Vecthor

Kudos to you for going back to the drawing board instead of just throwing in the towel. Best of luck! Finding an audience is probably the hardest part (on that same journey myself)

Currently working on our low code product to enable anyone to quickly and easily create, collect and distribute strictly typed and validated cloud based document data for use in your website, mobile or backend.

Use it as a backend, as a document database, as a list source, content etc and access - via user definable granular access keys.

As software developers working on a variety of projects we saw the same problem raise its head time and time again. Each project has the same fundamental requirements: an API suite, gateway configuration, data security and plenty of rigorous testing. There’s a lot of repeated effort here when really we should be concentrating on developing the application features itself.

So we aim to remove the hassle of the architecture, devops, development, hosting and potential spiralling costs of Azure or AWS - just consume it as a service and concentrate on your development logic instead.

Currently just soft launched but waiting for posting rights in IH and product hunt - lesson learned start this process as early as you can.

An automated task management system that hooks into helpdesk and project management platforms and fully automates the dispatch, assignment, scheduling, and escalation of work. We do the work of a full-time project manager but in under a second. We are cash-flowing and onboarded our first customer about 8 months ago. Been a fun ride so far!

I'm working on "ReadSomething" with my friends!

Read Something - An open source Chrome extension project that makes web reading more efficient with AI
Read Something is an open source Chrome extension project that utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to solve common web reading pain points and improve the online reading experience for users.
    Main functions:
    • Reading mode: Customize the reading experience by adjusting text layout, fonts and color themes. Support light and dark modes.
    • Chat articles: Generate a related comment or discussion for the current webpage with one click by calling OpenAI's model to show multi-angle thinking and views.
    • Multilingual translation: Translate the webpage content between Chinese and English, and other languages by combining Google Translate, Tencent Translate and OpenAI's machine translation models.
    • Export Markdown: Export the current webpage content to Markdown format for offline reading or secondary processing.
Developers can fork this project on GitHub, participate in the development of the extension based on React and TypeScript, and are welcome to propose feature suggestions and push code.

We are working on an AI network and ecosystem that aim to support AI startups by providing a platform for them to connect with investors, job seekers, industry experts, and institutions. Our platform will leverage an AI algorithm to match different stakeholders based on their specific needs and criteria. For example, it will match AI startups with investors who have an investment thesis that aligns with the startup's goals, as indicated in their pitch decks. Let us build the future of AI, together!

Hey I've been working on Zigpoll (https://www.zigpoll.com) for a few years and have a decent MRR (approaching livable for a HQL region). I had success with a previous app on the Shopify App Store which I used to bootstrap a lot time into this project. I believe Zigpoll has a lot of room to run and is in a good spot with the recent AI boom (ex. use AI to sus out trends in your open-ended response data) and it's less tightly coupled with Shopify so am hopeful for what comes next! Best of luck on your venture as well - just subbed :)

    Hi,

I've been working on a system for tracking mood changes as well as checking in events, such as taking medication, meditating, doing outdoor activities, having good conversations and so on (the list of events that can be tracked is actually up to the user to come up with). Then, the system provides some charts (with overlay support) to correlate the events/activities with the goal (mood change) and see what is contributing more (or less) with increasing the mood.

All this data can be shared with your medical doctor or therapist. For those dealing with depression or any other mental disorder, hopefully this system will help you remember/realize how your mood changes and what medications or events should be strengthened in order to improve your mood.

I came up with this idea when I realized that a "solution isn't a solution if you can't measure it". Plus, this is something I use myself, as some could say I'm "eating my own dog food".

Please reach out to me whoever is interested, the system is currently stable and right now I'm working on the landing page (+ analytics).

    Best regards,

    Carlos

Working on SmittyAI knowledge base. Smitty is a chatbot connected with GPT3.5 and 4. This can be used to support employees and customers with questions about something specific in the company or for customers about a product. The chatbot can be embedded on a intranet or website and can be used in Slack. You just upload a document and the chatbot uses this as context to answer a related question.

I'm working on a problem non-profit organizations have when they're creating resource guides. It take a lot of time and effort to create a database and keep it updated. Every org I've been in or worked with has wanted a resource guide, some have been able to invest the time in creating it, but no one has ever been able to keep it updated. They become useless after 6 months because too much haas changed. The thing I'm building aims to automate the "keeping it updated" part so guides can stay relevant.

    We're developing Feedbird.
    Here's what it does:

    1. Feedbird helps you create, plan, and schedule content for LinkedIn.

    2. It has an AI-powered tool that lets you create posts easily and quickly.

    3. You can schedule your posts beforehand and get feedback to improve your content before you post.

    4. Feedbird works for both personal and company LinkedIn accounts, so you can manage all your content in one place.

Currently working on several projects, but my main one is called LANCR, a platform for management & payments for contractors & freelancers, that provides lower fees for the clients.

We started in March, and already had $25+k in processing volume. We are also growing a community, as we believe it's one of the best ways to help and empower contractors & freelancers, and also to build better product(s). So you can also be our guest (apparently, cannot post links yet).

I am working on 1:1 mentorship platform for startups where a user can schedule a call with the mentor to take guidance on.

    Hey Neo,

Husband and wife team here - currently building Machined which is an SEO tool aimed at startups to help up their SEO game and drive organic traffic. Essentially you input your topic/area, your target audience and your language and Machined will generate a topic cluster of SEO optimised content, conduct keyword research based on advanced analytics and then finally write and link the cluster for you. Essentially a done for you SEO strategy to help you please the Google Gods, rank higher and drive organic traffic to your site.

We're actively working on it, adding new features. We have an open roadmap on the website for anyone who wants to take a look - we always love to hear ideas and features that our users would find helpful.

But that's enough about the product. How we got into startups and business...

I'm a lawyer by trade, and my husband is a software engineer. He was in management and we were comfortably living in the British countryside with our two kids. I had taken time out of my career to raise our two beautiful boys and use my KitchenAid. All very idyllic. The reality is we got bored, and constantly found ourselves thinking 'Is this really it?' like 'What's next?'.

There are so so so many ways to make money online, we have some skills and we can learn anything online. We just needed a bit of bravery.

So we grew a pair... we sold our house, quit our jobs and decided to take a year to dedicate to startups and finding ways to diversify our income.

But first of all we needed a holiday (duh). So we decided instead of a 2 week traditional holiday, we would pack up our 4x4 and drive through Europe with our two kids. We never really went for more than 3/4 hours of driving a day, and we had no specific destination. If we found somewhere we liked, we'd stay a little longer. We got all the way to Bosnia and Herzegovina before heading back. That was fun.

We then came back to the UK, semi settled - back to work, creating, building and meeting loads of cool people doing similar things. We've never looked back - and now our next plan is to hopefully relocate out of the UK to somewhere where the weather is a little more forgiving!

    Hey everyone!

I wanted to share the story of building Kalkula, a platform that simplifies data integration, ensures data quality, and enables data exploration through visualizations. Here's a quick summary of how it came together:

Data Integration: Kalkula connects to various data sources like databases, spreadsheets, and even complex file formats like XLSX. It consolidates scattered data into a unified view, eliminating manual extraction and transformation efforts.

Data Quality: We prioritize accurate insights by implementing comprehensive data quality rules. Users can define validations, such as checking for missing values, data type consistency, and range limits, ensuring reliable analyses.

Data Visualization: Kalkula offers interactive charts, graphs, and dashboards for visual data exploration. Users can customize visualizations to present data effectively and gain valuable insights.

Data Monitoring: To maintain data quality over time, Kalkula provides monitoring features. Regular dataset updates and anomaly detection ensure data integrity and prompt issue resolution.

Building Kalkula has been an amazing journey, driven by our commitment to empowering businesses with their data. Feel free to ask questions or share your thoughts and experience. I am here also to get a feedback.

    Hey man.

After a decade of experience in B2B Sales, I had enough with the average sales software on the market, hence I'm currently building Salesforge to help start-ups and scale-ups to personalize cold email outreach at scale to 10x their pipeline.

Salesforge essentially is an all-in-one sales execution super app that gives the highest probability to hit your target by tackling email deliverability and the need to personalize cold email outreach at scale.

We do that by enabling real-time AI & machine learning to decision critical sales activities, enhance messaging and eliminate the need for various sales point solutions, therefore driving superior conversion rates.

    I'm new to this community!

I have 3 successful agencies (50-100k p/m each) already but wanted to take a change of direction this year!

I'm currently building a project management tool for SEOs and launching an AI assisted content company!

I'm addicted to this game and having shiny object syndrome doesn't help.

New to this community so hi all!

Hi Neo, I would love to join as well.

I have a tech and design background, and I have co-founded a few startups in the past, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to continue with them. Currently, I'm trying different avenues by offering productized services for design (https://designbear.net) and tech (https://codesquad.pro). It's still in the early stages, so I'm doing marketing on my own and being active in various communities.

We hope you find it helpful, and let us know if you have any feedback or questions. We’re still early stage so any suggestions are much appreciated! 🙂

    Hey 👋

Myself and 2 others are working on Baser, we're an SEO tool company trying to demystify the witchcraft that is SEO.

Started with something completely different (a SaaS management tool), had over 100 awkward interviews desperately trying to remember the Mom Test and came to the conclusion that it was a lukewarm problem but we dusted ourselves off and pivoted based on what customers really wanted...growth.

Turns out, in the founding team we had an SEO guru who was analysing the companies we were talking to simply for fun! So we decided to go all in on an SEO tool creation for startups as this ticked the boxes of what we wanted to do (help startups grow) and what we could do with our skills (SEO automation as we're product/engineering heavy)

We've just launched our first automation tool called "WordSeek" which essentially optimises your site's pages by finding all the keywords the page is ranking for but doesn't exist anywhere on the page providing some easy-wins that instead of taking hours sifting through hundreds of blog articles takes minutes 🚀

Since we've started (a little over 6 months ago), we're growing month-on-month both customer-wise and product-wise and have found there's a deep need for startups to get started with SEO to compete with their larger competitors who dominate the SERP results!

We're actually just starting out and trying to build simple pay-what-you-want SaaS projects for Indie Hackers. Our motivation is to offer highly focused, low-cost services for entrepreneurs early in their journey.

Our first project is a low-code solution to gather and display user reviews and testimonials.

On B2B SaaS websites you will often see testimonials from their customers to help build trust and increase conversion rates. Gathering and uploading these websites can take time away from focusing building your core business so we're offering a low-code solution to make this fast and easy to do.

Consider following us if you want to get early access to this feature.

With law blocks you can create your own agreement, to store your document in the blockchain network pay in LBT (Law blocks Token). I'm currently building out our most ambitious feature on ServerAuth.com - website management. For a bit of an overview, ServerAuth started out as a solution to manage SSH access into servers. This is a common problem for web development agencies and software houses where they might have multiple people working on clients projects and they need access to the server their site/system is hosted on. Most places give SSH access but never actually manage it, so you're left with people having access to servers who shouldn't.

As we've grown we've added a bunch of server management features like monitoring resources, managing cron jobs, databases, firewalls and more. The biggest feature we've been dying to add was tbe ability to manage and deploy sites to the server from a central location.

It's been a long slog to get it done but we're ever so close to releasing the major update and I'm super excited for the new avenues and features it's going to allow us to persue. I'm a developer at heart so being able to figure out solutions to make this possible (and more importantly, secure) has been a fun challenge :)

We're thankfully in a position where we've already built an estsblished customer base so we've been able to take our time to get this right. That combined with having a (perhaps over the top) focus on low overheads has kept our profit margins high, allowing us the freedom not to need to worry too much about hustling for more customers.

We only got traction as interest yet (we're still developing the product). But here's a little story if you want to feature me in the future.

I was in an incubation program last year as acting CTO in Madrid, Spain. After having a difficult time managing my studies (Aerospace Engineering) with the startup, I had to leave. But I had an objective: finish the platform I had started.

That's when I tried to go solopreneur. I delivered a full website (front, back and cloud done by me). But there were many things to manage. I gave up after selling 6 websites to local small businesses. And my search for passively looking for a co-founder started.

After some months, I catch up with and old entrepreneurship acquantaince: we discovered we applied for the same startup hackhaton.

We put a team together, put an idea together. Came 8th/40. We joined another hackathon the next day. Came 9th/10. We changed our idea.

And after 1 months developing it, my founding partners commented "it's difficult to hire nowadays, right?". It was time. We decided to build a B2C software to improve the experience of candidates during the hiring process.

After months validating, doing research and developing our ideas, we ended up with a B2B Enterprise SaaS of People Analytics and Workforce Intelligence, with a 4-meeting sales cycle and high tickets.

If you want to know what happened there, I'm up for a quick call :)

PS: our demo will be ready for 20th July and the official launch is 23rd August. Already got 7 LOIs closed.

Not sure how you define startup, but I'm working on TinyUX (https://tinyux.app), a way to create wireframes on you mobile device. With the potential to add more UX design aspects. I built an early version, added small features and improvements from there.

    1. 1

That is so cool, how far along are you guys?

      MVP, Launch ,etc...?

      1. 1

Hi, It's a one person effort. You can see the timeline over here: https://www.indiehackers.com/product/tinyux

So the app is available, there is a free version with a smaller canvas, that's on ~100 devices now, and paid version (single purchase) is now on ~40 devices. There are a couple of 5 star ratings, but they don't show yet on Google Play, perhaps too few users or something.

I've got other fully free apps that are used by thousands of people, but I think this one might have more potential. I also think I have an approach (grid based) that will not be copied by existing players in the UX software space. So that gives me the time to improve it and find a small group of users who love this approach and build out from there.

        1. 1

That is very cool although it doesn't seem like you guys have been around for much.

I'm looking for companies that have been around for 5~ or more years and are post-PMF.

Hey Neo, I'm David. Currently building Supaweb (.) co a super easy-to-use website builder for small businesses. Why another website builder? The reason is, I believe most of todays website builders are to complex for non technical business owners. Most of the time they need less than these builders offer. For example, take a look at webflow 's homepage, you can see my point in the homepage video, tons of options, confusing UI. The small businesses I talked to they want a super easy way to create a website.
Why I started? I'm working as a senior software engineer but live in a small community where business owners would just randomly stop me and ask to make a website for them, since I know they can't match my hourly rate I was referring them to these website builders but they told me they are to complex for them. So I made a quick prototype to see if its possible, choose the technologies & thats how Supaweb was born. (Silently) Launched with the first template, still adding features and collection feedback atm.

    1. 1

I love that, simplification always sells.

      How recently did you launch?

I'm getting the impression you guys are still super early stage, correct me if I'm wrong tho.

We're mostly looking for post-PMF startups to cover on our newsletter.

      1. 1

Supaweb went public on May 22 this year, so just a couple of days ago :-) We we are super early, just wanted to share my story :-)

  109. 1

Hey Neo. Im currently working on an alternative to GA4, as i believe analytics could be so much better.

Last project i made, i needed some analytics, and i couldn't bother making my own for the platform, so i went with GA. Simply put, it was the worst product i had tried in a long time, which led me on this route.

Now im trying to help other business/website owners get a good overview of their website traffic.

    Hope its interesting.

    1. 1

I really like that idea, I agree all Google analytics products absolutely suck.

How far along are you at this point?

As in have you found product market fit or are you still looking for validation, etc?

We're mostly looking for post PMF startups to cover on our newsletter.

      1. 1

We have the product ready and are currently testing while doing some marketing before launch.

I think analytics could be so much better than GA4 and the likes. Especially with the new age of AI, a lot of improvements can be made in this field.

If you need a transparent story from a startup, please consider covering us on the newsletter. Maybe we could even pay you.
